Some time in December midweek i arrived 6:48 to dine in restaurant. I paid $67.13 At approximately 7:15pm as i was paying for my meal. I witness 8 firemen from Ventura County Fillmore Fire Dept. get turned away. Because kitchen is close. First of all i was disappointed to see that at 7:15pm our first responders be turned away, when you close at 8pm I check the hours you have listed shows you close 7:30pm I asked the cashier why would she turn away service let alone our first responders. she clearly stated that the kitchen needed to cool off before closing, kitchen closes at 7:30pm My response to her, well just so that you know what time it is currently the time is 7:15pm read more

Normally, I always enjoy eating the carne asada fries as they are my favorite thing to get here. However, I was really disappointed with my last visit because the carne asada fries tasted nothing like how it normally does. I believe they gave me old or rancid meat. I hope that this review is taken into consideration, and I apologize for it being harsh, but I would love to see this restaurant do well, and not have unsatisfied customers. Little hole in the wall gem I found while headed back to Ventura. Was busy on a Sunday (love that for them) and still service was great & quick. The food... immaculate. We got two cocas mexicana, a jicama juice, chile rellano plate, a beef hardshell taco, and the chilaquiles plate that surprisingly came with papas. I'm sort of a rice & beans fanatic (I have been on the hunt to find refried beans that remind me of my abuelita's recipe) and these were great especially with the fried eggs. read more

We were on an adventure today and looked for a recommendation for breakfast and this place came up. We went in for a try and the place is very small with a limited seating. The service is slow for a small restaurant. It took the young lady a while to return and take our order. I was disappointed to start with this kind of service. I ordered the chorizo and eggs for breakfast and Jamaica water. The water took up to half of my meal to receive. The business is very busy don't get me wrong. I was not a fan of the refried beans, for my taste they were too salty. I ate half of my meal because it did not settle well with my tummy. I wish they would have been more attentive to us because we had our pilled of dirty dishes and they would pass by and not pick them up, we had to ask for our bill, extra napkins and my tortillas for my meal. I was tempted to try the sweet bread but after the tummy issue I decided to play it safe and stay away. Maybe next time I will try something different. read more

Ordered pickup from here countless times because it's close to where I live so it's convenient and I love supporting local spots. Every single time there is an issue and tonight was the final straw. In the past, they've charged me for stuff that I ordered but never received, forgot to start my order so I had to wait nearly 30 minutes after arriving, and straight up gave me the wrong food. Tonight was no different. Ordered three tacos, a side of rice and beans, and a chile verde plate, and I was charged for it all. I got the chile verde plate, but only received two tacos and no rice and beans. How're you gonna remember to charge me for the food, but forget to give me the food? Also, the salsa I asked for was spilled in the bag so my container was drenched. I got a chile verde plate for the first time because I tried it at another local place (Vallarta's) a couple weeks ago and became obsessed. It was beyond underwhelming from here. The pork was overcooked and didn't seem restaurant made. It tasted like they bought it from a store and just heated it up or they simply don't care about the quality of the food they're serving. The tortillas also tasted store bought and were cold... from now on, I'll just order from other Mexican restaurants in town even if it's less convenient. I can't speak to how the experience or ambiance is in person because I always order pickup. Maybe it's better. If you're going for something simple like a quesadilla, carne asada fries, or nachos, this place is fine, but anything other than that, I'd pick somewhere else. Grabbed a breakfast burrito to go after calling ahead. Quoted 15-20 minutes and it took exactly that. Eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes and pico. Super delicious and plenty for the hubs and me. $10.68 was a fair price. Restaurant was pretty full for Thursday mid-morning but it's pretty small, so I'm glad I ordered to go. La Fondita is the kind of place your grandma would run if she had a restaurant. It's small and family run with a cute shop next door that has panaderia, sodas and candy. We had menudo and Caldo de pollo and both were excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. They take pride in their doors and you can taste it. We will be back! read more

I really love the food here. It's not the fanciest place or gourmet but something about it just really feels like a home cooked meal. So far I've tried the beef enchilada with red sauce (dinner), and breakfast burrito with Machaca (lunch). Both were great. The vibe is like a diner but smaller, with a bakery on one side. Sit by the window in a booth and watch locals go by. It's nice to have a local place close by with nice staff. Will definitely be back. read more

Nothing on my plate was hot. It's like they opened cans and jars, mixed the ingredients in a bowl and unappetizingly plated it. How even the eggs were cold is beyond me. Never had chilaquilles cold. And I'm pretty sure it's not them trying out a new way to cook the dish. It's not a 1 star because they cooked me new eggs. I'm extremely easy to please. Great little spot! Came here on a Sunday morning and god the bistec ranchero. The prices are pretty great and the food was fresh. As such it takes a little while to get your food. Definirle recommend the bistec ranchero, it would cost at least $16 elsewhere, but here it was a very reasonable $12! They also have an integrated bakery where you can just pick up some bread after your meal and they'll charge you when you pay. I recommend the pumpkin empanadas, not too sweet and delicious. read more

Been going there for many, many years. Food is always consistently great. We buy our masa there for tamales and sopes. Every other Friday my friends and I buy breakfast burritos and posole. I wish I could give them negative stars. They have a sign at the register that Says they do not serve fast food, they serve good food as fast as they can. That is an understatement! I waited about 25 minutes for the worst salad on the face of the planet. It was a simple house salad with tomatoes and cucumbers and I added chicken, for a whopping nine dollars! My salad had no cucumbers and when I asked for some they said they were out. It had no dressing and when I asked for some they were out. I just got my money back and left. read more

(No beans) The size was large enough to split, and the bacon was thick sliced and noticeable in every bite. Plus a hint of cilantro from the pico was just perfect. In my opinion, you can't go wrong. I love La Fondita! I work across the street and this I my go to place for a delicious lunch. I highly recommend the carnitas tacos with everything and green salsa. Also the carnitas burrito with added sour cream is my personal favorite. (I personally love carnitas but the asada is also epic!) The side chips and side guacamole just add to the whole experience. 5 stars! They also have a bakery of fresh Mexican pastries that are also delicious. Whenever anyone asks me where to go for lunch I always say 'right across the street at La Fondita' I can't recommend highly enough! read more
