I love coming here. And if you can catch Chuy in the am, have had the pleasure of having am shots with him! He's so funny and friendly, he'll come sit right in your booth with his bottle of Tequila and talk about living life to its fullest. That's the real family restaurant experience. The pan in the am while you wait. Or fresh tortilla chips in the afternoons and evenings. It's a great place to sit back and eat good. Service is always kind, courteous and fast!

I came here for a work lunch with a group of about 20 people. The restaurant is quite large. There is a main part of the restaurant that was really busy by the bar area but we were sat in another section of the restaurant and had the entire dining area to ourselves. We had great service from start to finish. We ordered our drinks and food within a few minutes and our food actually came out before our drinks did. I ordered a chile verde burrito (dry). I appreciate the side of guacamole for a garnish and that they did not add a bunch of rice as a filler. The inside of my burrito only had pork chile verde and refried beans. The meat was soft and full of flavor. I enjoyed how large my burrito was too. Many of my coworkers got seafood items and they also looked delicious but I didn't snap any photos. I pass by the place so many times for work on my weekly commute but I think it would definitely be worth a stop on a road trip coming home from the Central Valley back to Ventura.

My husband and I decided on el Pescador for our day date on a Sunday afternoon. Once we walked in the atmosphere was very fun! Music was great! I personally love banda & the place was full of laughter & smiles ( a great sign). We hadn't been in a while so we were very excited to try some delicious mariscos. Well, we were not disappointed! Our server first of all was very attentive & even though the place was very loud she listened carefully & made sure our order was right. I ordered the pineapple with seafood topped with some melted cheese. It came with some homemade tortillas & it was absolutely DELICIOUS! We also got some micheladas which was a great pair with our food. We highly recommend & will be back!

Amazing food! It was so delicious and came out so fast! Decided to try the watermelon drink and it was so delicious you wouldn't even know there was alcohol in it! Staff is friendly and check in with you to make sure you have what you need. Came in with a big group and they were able to accommodate! Definitely recommend if you're in the area

I've loved everything I've ordered here. Really tasty rice and beans, great tacos, excellent enchiladas, savory chile verde, it's all good! But what made me have to write this review is the Shrimp Cocktail. Whenever I think about ordering shrimp at a restaurant I get nervous. I worry there won't be enough shrimp in whatever dish I order because I have a distorted sense of what constitutes an individual serving size of shrimp. I need a hell of a lot of shrimp to make me happy. And a hell of a lot of shrimp is exactly what you get when you order a Shrimp Cocktail here. Plenty of shrimp, even for the likes of me. So many shrimp! The Shrimp Cocktail comes in two sizes. When I first started coming here I'd get the small size, and I was entirely satisfied. But then I tried the large, and, well, there's no going back now. So.....many.....shrimp! The large Shrimp Cocktail rules supreme! And I need to say, it's not just about the number of shrimp that makes the Shrimp Cocktail here so great. The cocktail sauce the shrimp are served in is phenomenally good in its own right. Plus it's loaded with lusciously ripe diced avocado. This is not a shrimp cocktail where I'm fine with leaving half a glass of cocktail sauce after all the shrimp are picked out. The waitstaff always asks if you want your Shrimp Cocktail with "everything." I'm allergic to raw onions and I appreciate the fact that I can order my Shrimp Cocktail without them, and it actually comes to the table that way. I love El Pescador because I don't have to worry about the shrimp situation. I know for a fact there are going to be plenty of shrimp. I can relax and feast on shrimp to my heart's content. Mikey C says: I'm the same way about lobster.

Dads 60th bday and he loves El Pescador but the Fillmore one. As kids for any special occasion we'd go to the Santa Paula location but that one has gone downhill. My dad practically knows everyone at the restaurant. It had been years since I had been here. The restaurant has expanded since I had been here. They opened up another section. I ordered the nachos and they were huge. Good not the best but good. Most of my siblings who also came to celebrate our dad liked there food. Most importantly, my dad loved it! They even brought out the mariachi hat to put on him and sang him happy birthday (tears). Not too crazy busy or loud in the area we sat but it's was on the other side away from the bar area. Pretty restaurant. Parking can be crazy as it is very popular. People love from all Ventura County to eat here. Service was awesome. We had to to well because our server went above and beyond. For my fam, it will forever be a special place.

Had such a great experience yesterday here! The service is so great! The food all tasted great and was so seasoned! The drinks were delicious and the waiter was so fun and sweet!

This is my second visit and it's still just as amazing as it was the first time! Our server, Fernando, was absolutely the best! This guy needs a raise and acknowledgement! (Employee of the month perhaps!?!) First test for a Mexican restaurant is its chips and salsa. Fresh made and hot chips with the perfect salsa. It's going to be a win! We got there during happy hour so margaritas were only$6 and came in large pint glasses, not some mini tumbler like so many other places. I got the mango chamoy and it was delicious. My friends had the pomegranate margaritas and they were delicious too. We decided to share the Don Alejo family platter for$60. So much food! The food came out fast and hot! Tons of rice&beans. Pork, chicken, steak & chorizo. Quesadillas. Guac, creme and pico. Taquitos. Fresh made tortillas. We were stuffed and brought a ridiculous amount of food home. I absolutely recommend this place! We will be back for Taco Tuesdays!

    Molcajete
    Diana G.

The service was amazing, very attentive waitress. The place had good music and seemed clean. However, I ordered the molcajete and for $37.99 I did not think it was worth it. It did come with rice and beans and homemade tortillas, but the dish itself was not good. It lacked sauce and the meats were dry and salty. The tortillas were also cold. The rice and b and were good but felt like this meal was way overpriced for the quality I received. I used to love coming here for the molcajete but it's not the as it used to be.

Always love coming to this place. Nice little halfway stop between Santa Clarita and Ventura. Love the Mexican seafood options that they have and they are plenty of them! They have a nice little bar there too, so you can get a Michelada or a margarita. We had the fried fish which I always love as well as garlic, shrimp and steak. Price point is pretty good as well. Services always good but sometimes the waiters get distracted and you gotta call them back to the table, but not that big of a deal.

Can't say it enough, love this place! Great vibe all around. As we enter the pleasingly decorated dining room, we're always cheerfully greeted and feel welcomed to enjoy fabulous Mexican seafood. Service is energetic, attentive and always with a smile. Never happened to come by on a weekday, but so glad we did. All 24 weekday Lunch specials are $12.99 and the portions are a big as dinner. We both overate and heading to our campsite with lunch for tomorrow. I enjoyed my favorite Ceviche served with Pescado soup, loaded with fresh white fish and shrimp and served with their famous handmade thick hot fresh tortillas! Yum! Hubby loved his beef enchilada made with authentic sauce, generous tender chucks of beef, served with creamy beans and according to hubby (not a rice eater), "very tasty rice". Thank you El Pescador for always being so good to us and feeding us a little too much! ;)

The blueberry margarita and limoncello beverages were my two drinks of choice, recommended by our lovely waitress Bethany. I liked my drinks a little sweet and girly and both fit that vibe. Shared some oysters with the wife and some crab cakes, they all hit the spot and were solid appetizers to start with. I also got a cup of clam chowder before my main meal. One of the better clam chowders I've had to date. Nice and creamy, fresh and satisfying, it almost had me wishing I ordered a bowl instead. My wife tried mine too and had to order her own right after. The lobster roll with some fries was my main course. So good! The bun was lightly toasted and crisp and the lobster was just sweet and buttery without being too heavy. Very satisfying. And then finally I had to wrap things up with a dessert. Their strawberry basque cheesecake was the easy choice for me. This is the kind of dessert where everyone says they're just going to have a bite and suddenly half of it is gone. I'm glad I split it because I could have easily indulged and eaten the whole thing on my own if the temptation was there. And again, service was excellent. It wasn't particularly busy when we were there. The drinks came in a little slow because there was only one bartender and the bar was busy but otherwise, our waitress checked in on us a healthy amount of times to see if we needed anything or to refill our waters. We sat outside so nice ambiance too. We went to three restaurants while visiting this area and this was the only one I really felt compelled to write a review for. Certainly recommend it.

To our surprise, the weekday earlyish dinner experience here was even BETTER than our great first impression in Ventura. The reason? Our stellar server Dan! Dan is if the soothing vocal affect & detail orientedness of Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane, + the compassion of Dr. Phil, + the genuine caring of your bff who really gets you all got infused into the body of a tall, tanned, actor-handsome golfer. We joked that Dan could heal anyone's daddy issues bc he was SO perfectly attentive & thoughtful in his details. From helpfully comprehensive explanations of the best of that day's daily fish, to the bringing us CHILLED spoons to eat some of our to-go blueberry cobbler before the ice cream could melt on the drive home, to bringing us new glasses of club soda mid meal - level thoughtfulness. When they say it's the little things, it really means it's all the little things that add up to a big thing. Green flags like crazy. Yep, that's our Dan! Dan was a totally unexpected surprise, but the comfy booth seating, cool decor & awesome food was not. We have come to expect a level of consistent excellence at Lure. Wild Cod Fish & Chips - likely some of the best - lightest & crispiest - cod we have had - ever, & I'm talking in the world (When we told Dan we'd share that dish, he offered to bring it first, so we could share it as an appetizer. Another green flag!) Sally's Sand Dabs - my 2nd time ordering this bc it's so perfect - pineapple slaw is always great & the garlicky spinach was buttery textured, simple, & fantastic Blue Eyed Trevalla - true to Dan's recommendation, a spectacular fish & cooked perfectly House salad - worth a special mention bc it was surprisingly great w/crispy raw corn kernels & a yum balsamic dressing Blueberry Cobbler a la mode - big enough to enjoy w/the ice cream there & also the rest at home later.
