His exact words "you asked for God Damn ID's" He also called me very upset to begin with because"I told his men to get out" When ONE he sent men that half spoke English - and he didn't know anything going on because HE DIDN'T ANSWER THE PHONE? While he will execute your vision, he would also provide his own insight to help us think through any considerations as to why or why we shouldn't do something. Whether it was just not worth the cost, add value to our home/lifestyle or a find potential alternative/balance. The statement of work he provides is fully laid out and he explains line by line to ensure we're on the same page. Payments were scheduled for specific milestones. This was our first major remodel endeavor, so quite an exciting and scary process considering the potential investment and living adjustment during the process. We initially reached out to Solomon regarding adding square footage to our home. A 4' bump forward, adding an additional bedroom, and bumping the back of our house for a new kitchen. He was very clear up front of the overall process, timeline and expectations to ensure we knew the order of sequence of how the project would roll out. He spent a good 6 months with us during the planning and design phase, from engineering, blueprinting and permitting. We also visited some of his previous customers and talked to his customers and they all shared the same sentiment of his approach and quality of work. This included a new roof, new gutters, stucco, paint exterior, retaining planter wall, new porch and backyard deck. What made this project especially important to us was that we managed the entire job remotely from our home in Northern California. Danny made that process remarkably easy. He communicated consistently, answered every question thoroughly, sent frequent photos and videos, and kept us informed throughout the preparation and installation. We never felt out of the loop. The quality of the work was outstanding. Their team removed the existing decomposed granite, properly prepared and graded the area, installed and compacted a base, added the weed barrier, carefully laid and trimmed the turf around curved borders and existing stepping stones, secured the edges and seams, applied the upgraded zeolite infill, and power-broomed the finished surface. They clearly cared about the details--not just whether it looks good on installation day. Danny also stood out during the bidding process. We received several quotes, and he was transparent about the exact turf product, specifications, backing, base preparation, and infill options. He did not simply recommend the most expensive upgrade. Ironically, both of those contractors had been recommended by people we knew. That experience taught us an important lesson: we needed to do our own research and find someone we could truly trust. Danny was actually my favorite candidate from the beginning when I started collecting bids in late 2023. His quote wasn't the cheapest, and at first I questioned the price. Later, Danny explained something he called the "salami tactic." Some contractors intentionally submit low bids by leaving out critical work that inexperienced homeowners don't know to ask for. Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.
