I also had the saffron latte - I didn't enjoy this very much because I'm East Indian and I thought the taste of saffron would be a bit stronger than it actually was. A quaint middle eastern coffee shop that transforms into a bar in the afternoon. I mean it's a great concept since it keeps the business open for longer. It also serves a small menu of middle eastern dishes which I am most interested in. The café's décor and style fits right into the audience of Kensington market. It is very rustic looking, but still with a hip and stylish feel. The café is rather small and you can expect it to be quite busy. The food took a while to come so don't come here on a time crunch. Rather come here for a relaxing and quiet place to chill or as a date. Persian omelette - An interesting concept of adding tomato sauce to an omelette and cooking them together. The omelette was coated on top with a mix of herbs which added to the taste and texture, but ultimately was not for me. I have several complaints for this dish, eggs over cooked (or maybe denatured from acidity of tomatoes) and the herbs didn't add much flavour as I'd like (maybe too much tomato sauce?). It came with a side of sangak which I wished to be a bit more and also a bit crispier. I would not come back for this dish. Cardamon & honey latte - The latte was nicely and promptly made; it had good flavour and would get it again. After my dish, I would not have high expectations for the food. Instead, I would return for the atmosphere and drinks as it is a nice place to hangout and sit. read more

We took a vacation to Toronto and we stumbled upon this brunch place/cafe. There were many delicious options on the menu, but I took the eggs and bacon with a side of soup, and for dessert I had a French toast. My friend and I came here for a hearty brunch around 11am and were seated right away in their patio in the back (we also had the option to dine indoors). We both got the persian omelette which consists of eggs scrambled in their housemade tomato sauce topped with assorted dried herbs and served with 2 pieces of sangak bread, side salad with pickled vegetables. Okay, so this tasted like another delicious version of shakshuka but different consistency and different spices perhaps they use. I loved this persian omelette so much and I loved well the sangak bread complimented the omelette. I felt it was a pretty good portion. I also had the peach and mango green tea which was nice and refreshing! Service was great as I noticed perhaps only one person? was working. I'll fall in line with the other Yelpers and give them 5 stars just because I can. I've recommended this spot a couple times already and just now writing a review. Looking at Yelp, it's a little surprising to me that they have been open with a 5 star rating for over a year now and only 3 reviews. Wtf? Gordon K. also laments about the lack of Yelpie love. Interesting. That aside, I've only been once for brunch here and it was a great experience. I ordered the omelette and it was unlike any omelette I've had before. It is a style made by the Persians (Iranians) where they separate the yolk and white and beat them into a fluffy cloud of deliciousness. The food was great! I had bacon as a side and there was some fruit on the plate as well. What made it even better here is the spot I had to sit. I had a little couch/ loveseat all to myself in a corner and ate from what seemed like a coffee table for that family feeling. It would be a hell of a cozy spot for a morning date if you had someone with you. I peeked at the back patio and it looked pretty tightly packed back there with not much room, but everyone was happy nonetheless. As others point out this is obviously a family run business. That can go both ways. You can feel the tension when customers show up and staff is stressed, but on the plus side the attention to detail and genuine warmth offered is palpable and appreciated by anyone who has a soul. This is probably a new shop in Kensington market as I had not seen it before. They do have front and back patios and no inside seating (yet) due to covid I believe. The customer service is great, and also their desserts and food not just looks good but also did taste great! I am going to try the rice variety next time I am here but for now it's just a coffee and cake which were excellent. The space isn't crammed like any other Kensington market spots in and around. Also their food and desserts are middle Eastern inspired. Also they do have weekend specials. Definitely a good place to check out if you are in this area. read more

Nestled in Kensington Market is the Arch Cafe. In fact it's kinda well hidden amidst the canopies at the front patio. Originally I was given a place at the back patio, but it was beside a small paddle of rain water, so I asked to switch to inside the cafe. The menu was interesting and decently priced. I decided on a Dutch Baby with a side of bacon and eggs. First time trying a Dutch baby and it's kind of a cross between a crepe and a pancake. The server warned that it would take 30 minutes to make, but I didn't mind waiting to try something new. It's light in texture and taste, and came with a little cup of syrup. I also ordered iced green tea with peach and mango. It does taste like an actual tea, not like those you find in bottles at grocery stores. Our server was attentive and helpful with recommendations. She did a great job getting my drink to me without any spills as it came to me filled to the brim of the glass. That takes skills lol. They forgot to give me a napkin, but that's small detail to me. It's not "brunch" in the way that you might expect - a platter with little bits of a lot of comfort foods. These dishes very much consist of a main (pancakes or French toast) and an accompaniment. I picked a combo of French toast with chicken and maple syrup that I expected to be somewhat odd and disjointed, but it worked! The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned - savory to balance the maple syrup's sweetness and the more muted flavours of the French toast. I *cannot* articulate to you the absolutely splendid texture of the French toast - plenty of crisp but still melting in your mouth. It was absolutely sublime. My friends who ordered pancakes were also very satisfied! Their menu might be more limited in length, but in return all of the items (to my knowledge) are quite strong. Cozy atmosphere - many books, a few games. It was pretty quiet and calm Thursday at midday. read more

Dude, the brunch here is OUTSTANDING. So why only 4 stars for this cute little Middle Eastern cafe with a front and back patio? First, some of the prices are kinda high. I think we paid like $6 for a honey cardamom latte and $8 for fresh watermelon juice. Second, we also came here for dinner once and, while I enjoyed my simply prepared chicken breast with rice, my friend didn't enjoy her vegetarian meal. Nevertheless, the brunch here is awesome and so is the service. The Persian "omelet" with tomato sauce and another "omelet" with dates were both SUPER delicious. I use quotes because they don't really look like omelets at all, but who cares. 11/3/2022 we stumbled upon this place as we wanted to explore a different area in Toronto. Super cute, artsy, and laid back. I got the croissant sandwich with the vegan lentil soup, and turmeric latte. The barista/server/bartender/all-in-one super star was so friendly and nice. Cute quaint brunch spot, the staff was all very friendly and welcoming! We were a party of 4 and they sat us on the back patio. We walked straight through their kitchen on the way back to the patio but it was cute made you feel like you were in your grandmas kitchen, because the kitchen was very small even smaller than most modern homes. It was cold so they turned on the fire pit for us. Three of my friends all ordered the Dutch baby and I ordered French toast. The wait time on the menu did say 30 min wait for the Dutch baby item but we waited well over an hour. But when the food finally arrived it was amazing my French toast was piled high with peaches and pecans. If you have time to wait I recommend this place, but if your in a hurry definitely not the spot for you because you will be waiting a long time!!
