    Tacos Machito and Gobernador
    Lupe J.

I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday, and it definitely turned into a memorable experience. The restaurant has a mix of Mexican food, sushi. The lighting is very dim, and the décor is a blend of Mexican folklore and international flags, which gave it a bit of a sports bar and club vibe as well. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. One of the best surprises was finding out that Thursdays is $5 margaritas! I tried both the blackberry and mango margaritas, and they were both delicious, but the blackberry was my favorite. Great flavor and sufficient alcohol. For our appetizer, we ordered the asada fries. They were just average. The fries, cheese, and toppings were tasty, but the asada itself was a bit tough. For my meal, I had the Machito taco and the Taco Gobernador. Both were flavorful, and the Machito taco was especially unique and delicious. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the staff surprised my friend with a slice of cake and a candle, which was a thoughtful touch. What really caught us off guard, though, was that they also brought her a complimentary shot served in a very provocatively shaped glass. We definitely were not expecting that. It was funny, but worth mentioning for anyone planning to bring kids or looking for a more family friendly experience. This is definitely more of an adult oriented atmosphere. As the afternoon went on, a DJ started setting up, and you could tell the restaurant was transitioning into more of a club scene. Overall, we had a great time. The service was attentive, the drinks were excellent, the food was good overall, and the music created a fun atmosphere. Just know before you go that this restaurant leans into a lively, risqué, adult party vibe, especially as the day turns into evening.

Must like loud club music. We couldn't hear each other talk. Our order took forever, it took 45 minutes to get the roll I ordered which fell apart. My son's hamburger came 20 minutes after I got my roll. He ordered it medium rare and it came well done and barley warm. Our server didn't speak English, he took our order and never checked on us. The service here is terrible. We kept having to flag down multiple servers for water, napkins and our food, wasabi and soy sauce and a small dish for the soy sauce, which wasn't included with my roll, the roll was very mediocre. There's no parking available here and They don't validate parking in the nearby garage. Its more like a club atmosphere

Great food very good selection of food for everyones taste, funny and great drink menu, prices where good I forgot my servers name but she had really long black hair in a ponytail super sweet and she was hustling there is a cute hot pink phone booth as soon as you go in perfect for pictures. The only thing that I didn't like was the loud live music but I get it some people like it and it probably happens on Friday and Saturday nights. If I lived in the area I would definitely come again

Such a fun place to come and have a dinner and a drink with family and friends. Very funny and creative drinks! Live music on Saturdays, elevating the atmosphere. Service was friendly and fast!

The food was great. It didn't take long to arrive. We went on a Sunday early evening and it was pretty quiet but toward the end of our dinner more people started to arrive. There are some options for food but it feels more like a place to get drink and a small bite to eat rather than actual dinner. The decor is beautiful and I love the black and red. I would definitely come again for drinks and a quick bite rather than for dinner. They offer different types of food and have a limited kids menu but I would say this is more for of age type of crowd due to it being more drink oriented and the drinks are tasty and super fun!

We had a very frustrating experience here. After being seated, we waited a long time while our server continued helping other tables that arrived after us. We weren't acknowledged properly, and communication was confusing--when we asked for water, the person who brought it said we needed to wait for a different server. It felt disorganized and unprofessional. After waiting without proper service, we decided to leave. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

We had a girls' night here and felt welcomed from the beginning, especially by the older gentleman. He made sure we had a great place to sit, checked in on us throughout the night, and made sure we had a chance to request songs. The drinks and food were great. I had the 911 sushi roll. We ordered a lot of drinks and the service was fast. You can tell the employees are making sure everyone is having a good time. We definitely would go again!

Cool wall decal. Check mark is correct!

10/10 ambience ! I really like the music and the way the place is set up. We ordered tacos(beef, shrimp and fish), berria and guacamole. I tried their margarita(passion fruit) and it was really good ! They have live band fridays and Saturdays. Will try to go back on those days.

Don Tomás nos brindó un excelente servicio, fue muy atento, nos ayudó en todo momento y gracias a él tuvimos una experiencia muy agradable.

Ok. The food was mid. The quesabirra does NOT come with the liquid to dip in. They changed that I guess even though it was posted on Instagram two hours prior to us coming! I returned it. The Mexican sushi roll was different. Wouldn't order it again! The guacamole was fresh asf and the chicharron was light! I want to be CLEAR' ... the drinks are CUTE but... they are only 24% liquor. You will not get drunk. But they have beer and so if that's your thing then you'd be ok. For the ambiance I'd give it a 5 star. They had Mexicans singing live music which I liked! Def a younger 20's-40's crowd. Cute date spot loud asf tho. The waitresses seemed like they were short staffed but nice! Over all three star rating!

Growers has a good setup--the bar is very lively and full, but it's not the first thing you see when you walk in, as it's off to the side. Someone in our group took a photo behind the bar, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the bartender immediately became rude and escalated things. We were asked to leave, which is one thing--but what made the situation worse was that my card was still swiped and we were never served any drinks. After that, the bartender continued talking about us and involved another bartender, which turned into an unnecessary scene and got us kicked out. The interaction felt disrespectful, targeted, and completely unprofessional. If there was an issue with taking a picture, that could have been communicated respectfully instead of creating a hostile situation. As regulars, we expected better treatment and better customer service.

Zero bartending etiquette. She argues with patrons, she argues with her coworkers, I honestly don't really even know why she works there. The other guy has to tolerate her, and they appear to argue in front of patrons - it's not cute. He just stands there, staring at patrons as they sit waiting for drinks while the line gets longer and longer. Bartending is clearly not their jam. They have no signature cocktails, and the cocktails they do make are pretty bad. The karaoke is pretty egregious, it's like a guy who likes to sing poorly decided he wanted to set up karaoke just so he had a reason to sing sometimes and make other people listen to it. It's a dive bar, which in itself isn't bad. But it's like if you were driving through the bad part of Bakersfield and said "this place looks cool" and then stopped for a drink and then realized that it's Bakersfield but it's not. It's actually Salinas. You go here because you NEED to, because there's nothing else open, and then when this place closes you go to Jaime's. It's the second worst Salinas has to offer, and I'm saying that with optimism.

The restaurant has a great drink selection and a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a Tuesday dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $32! This menu also had a special drink selection. I ordered the house salad, prawn risotto, and chocolate lava cake. The salad was very fresh with spring mix and butter lettuce, which I especially enjoy, and it was topped with a light vinaigrette style house dressing that was light and delicious. The prawn risotto was creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cake was rich and very chocolatey, a bit too rich for my personal taste, but still enjoyable. It also came with vanilla gelato, which was delicious. As a table, we also ordered the tableside tiramisu, which was such a fun and unique experience. I am a tiramisu connoisseur, so anytime I see it on the menu, I ordered it. It is my favorite dessert. Although this was not my favorite one, I very much enjoyed the experience. I will mention the espresso needs a little more time to fully soak into the ladyfingers, but the presentation and experience alone made it worth trying. The ambiance was lovely with nice background music, and the service was attentive and welcoming. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal, especially the birthday girl.
