I wont lie, we walked in and wondered about bringing our kids in for dinner. It's a bar and restaurant but a Super friendly guy greeted us when we sat down and was super welcoming! The fried green beans are awesome. Stoked they had a cheese flat bread for the 5yo. Burgers were delicious. Nothing was super greasy it was very well balanced. Its not "bar food". Its a legit restaurant. I had the street tacos which were flavorful and I preferred the carne asada for once because its all meat no fat. Lots of chicken wing flavor options too so my girls were happy. Calisqueeze on tap topped my meal! The only down was that the restrooms were more local bar vibe restrooms but it is what it is. Passing through one of our former town of residence, the downtown has really been upgraded and improved. Public parking available, so you can patronize downtown businesses. We were very impressed as 15 years ago the downtown was not a place to visit. Now it is. We like these "neighborhood" kind of restaurants/bars. Like the French Brassiere concept, but not as fancy, Dubber's is a place to sit, drink, chat with friends, get a bite to eat and pay a reasonable price for the occasion. Decent menu. We were driving so no booze. Old Town Burger ($15) with onion rings for $2. Wife did fried green beans (!) at $12 and we had iced tea and sodas at $3.75 each. Lots of photos and memorabilia on the walls and there were a lot of sports items, so owners must be into some teams. Very clean. Friendly wait staff, we had Karen K., and service was prompt and food accurate. An excellent stopping point if driving through the Salinas, the Garden Bowl of the Country. The portions were hearty and hit the spot. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the service became very limited after our food arrived. Horrible bartender!! Shitty hospitaility, doesnt know how to greet or serve. I know there has been several people that have complained about her too. Not only her but now the rest of the bartenders act shitty too. I was there last Saturday night and was completely ignored. She made eye contact several times, I was never greeted or even agnoliged. The bartender next to her acted the same way, this is not the first time it happens so i decided to call and complain I spoke to the Manager, (Glen). I told him that the food is great and its a place I usually meet up with friends, family and reps, so I don't plan on not going back.I dont need this type of problem. They need to get rid of her. We've been here twice in the past month. The food is not really for health nuts but is it ever good! Though, if you want to be health conscious, they have salads and a veggie sandwich. We do support this business a lot primarly through takeout but after a couple of recent closures in oldtown, it was a wake up call and we really want to support our local businesses because we wouldn't be the same without them. We have enjoyed friendly service both times we've been here in May and June 2025. First time, I had Fish and Chips and substituted garlic fries. It was crispy and delicious with a perfect side of cole slaw. The second time, we brought friends who hadn't tried the food and they were very satisfied w/ their Chicken Salad and Pastrami Reuben. A word about that Reuben: It is outstanding; made in the classical tradition of grilling Rye, adding saurkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing, it hits the spot! If you like pastrami, you will not be disappointed. Though I've never tried it, a couple of friends have recommended the TriTip sandwich. It's easy to overlook this spot as being just a bar, but it is a really great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with much better than average bar grub, prepared with thought. We ordered the fried artichokes and I had a moscow mule which was very tasty and my friend had a another mixed drink. We were very happy they knew how to make all the mixed drinks. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The food was bland and part of it seemed stale, and the hostile hospitality completely ruined the experience. I left feeling embarrassed rather than welcomed. Won't be returning in the future or recommend this bar to anyone. No one should shame someone like they did. No one knows what financial situation someone is in. She should be grateful for any tip, and the fact they're coming in to support the business that employs them is something they should also be grateful for. I took my blind friend in there this afternoon for lunch. My pickle slipped out of my hand and hit the floor. I asked for a replacement. The young man brought one...what he failed to tell me was he would be charging me $2. for this pickle. Also, no server ever came to our table to see if needed a soda or tea refill... or if we needed ANYTHING actually! I left no tip. My friend was shocked!
