First, let me start out by saying that Stevie was amazing. Very professional, very helpful,…read moreimpeccable service. You can absolutely tell that he has a ton of experience working in the food service industry. Our drink orders were perfect. Great martini delivered just as ordered. 5 stars. We are long-time Kyle G patrons. This was our first time at the Fish Grill. We came on a Tuesday. Upon arrival we learned about the Tuesday happy-tizer specials. We decided to try them in lieu of ordering off the regular menu. Our intention was to try as many of the happy-tizers as we could. Maybe that was our mistake. We will never know because after such a lackluster meal, we won't return. Here is what we tried: We ordered the mussels. Small, chewy, shriveled, over seasoned. Enough said. The shrimp and crab cake reminded me of my mother's salmon croquettes....not my favorite meal as a kid growing up. 2 half-dollar size patties served with a flavorful dipping sauce. They didn't taste like crab and they didn't taste like shrimp. A pan fried paste that tasted like whatever seasoning they used. The sauce couldn't save this for me. A textural turnoff. The dragon dynamite tuna was completely forgettable. The "crispy" rice was not crispy at all, the round discs could have been small, circular cut-outs of Wonder white bread. The tuna topping was more acidic than spicy. And I'm not really sure how you can mix tuna with spicy mayo and come up with a result that actually tasted as dry as the Sahara desert. The fish tacos were fresh, well cooked and well seasoned. They were served with luke-warm fries. Please note, the fish taco is not on the half price happy-tizer menu. The Tuesday appetizer menu is exactly the same as the appetizer menu every other day of the week.... We stopped after 3 disappointing items. Would it have tasted better on Wednesday when they were full price?

This is an upscale casual place (shorts, collared shirt). I had the swordfish Florentin which was excellent. There was a steak and shrimp meal order and I was told it was extremely tender meat and shrimp was perfect. I definitely recommend you try this place, you will not be disappointed.

Food was good: we had fried grouper, seared tuna on salad and grouper Ruben. All were good. Salad was marred by the tuna not being cooked to order, but it was still fine. Fries are the extruded kind, not my favorite. Beer was cold.

Now nearly 20 years later, it's still the first restaurant I want to go to when I come back to visit. Nestled along the beautiful Manatee Pocket, nearly every table has a waterfront view to watch the boats going by. The decor "inside" (it's a nearly all outdoor restaurant by the way) is classic Florida; I am always amused by the hurricane water level lines! Even the walk up into the restaurant is a boardwalk ramp (accessibility for the win!) The staff is always friendly there and service is consistent with the speed of getting things in my recollection over the years, even if it's packed. Food wise, Shrimper's has this bread that is just incredible and I can't exactly describe the flavor. I think it's a rosemary and poppy seed bread but I would pay money for their bread recipe. It's that good. I don't think you can get it anywhere else. My typical dinner choice is definitely on the "turf" side, where I like to get the Philly cheesesteak or some kind of pasta dish. This time I went with the pasta primavera, which was new on the menu. I added blackened chicken on top. The veggie quantity was good, and I liked how there was a lot of artichoke, which is more unique for a primavera. Anyhoo, I currently live about 1000 miles away from Shrimpers so I'm not there too often anymore but I always look forward to my next visit!
