Excellent brewery, winery and meadery with great apps and pizza. They also have homemade honey. The animals are free range and not afraid to beg for a bite. They have adult frozen Bellinis and Sangria as well. It's a must stop between Houston and Austin!

You order right at the bar (which is kinda fun because you get to peek at all the drink options). Inside is a little tight, not gonna lie but they've got a solid outdoor setup with plenty of seating. Looks like they even have fire pits, which I'm sure hits different when you've got time to hang and sip a few. Even though it was busy, service moved pretty quick and everyone was still friendly, which I always appreciate. And the food? So good. The tuna nachos came out looking all colorful and pretty, but the flavor combo is what really stole the show. Definitely a spot I'd swing back to next time I'm in Round Top.

It was hot out and stores were staring to close, so we came here for some drinks and food to escape the heat. Of the several times that we've been to Round Top, we had never been to Round Top Brewing and were pleasantly surprised...by everything. The spot is cute and cozy--nothing fancy and plenty of charm that isn't too forced. We ordered food and drinks at the bar and then sat in their indoor patio area (no A/C but tolerable circulation with the fans). They make their own beer, and we both enjoyed the kolsch that we stuck with for the evening. As far as food, we shared a giant pretzel and our daughter got a plain pizza. The pizza is that cardboardesque version, but it was edible. The pretzel was decent, but definitely a frozen-to-oven situation. What we *do* want to shout out is the mustard it came with. It was SO good. We asked if it was homemade, and it allegedly was: so spicy and nasal-clearing and tasty. The mustard alone is what is pushing up from 3 stars to four! Bottom line: nothing crazy special, but a good place with friendly folks working and decent food and drink. Prices are consistent with the area, and it's certainly better than Mandito's and it beats the chaos of Royer's. We won't be back, but we're glad we tried it.

It's built inside a historic garage, and you can still see the brewing equipment from the taproom, which gives the place a cool industrial feel. Plenty of indoor seating, a nice patio, and it just feels like somewhere you could hang out for a few hours. I ordered the SMASH Burger and made it a double. That was my mistake. The burger itself was excellent, hot, fresh, juicy, and cooked just right, but my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. The single would have been the perfect size for me. No complaints about the food at all. The beer was delicious too. They had a wide variety of lagers, IPAs, sours, and even a barrel-aged stout, so there was something for just about everyone. I appreciate breweries that don't make everything an IPA. Overall, I was really impressed. What started as an unplanned stop because of a billboard turned into one of the highlights of the drive. If you're passing through Columbus, Hound Song is absolutely worth pulling off the highway for.

The side of sriracha mayo and the house sauce I requested were missing from my plate but the pickle spear, I insisted not on my plate, was. The claim of scratch-made sides had me anticipating some hand cut fries, they were not, just mediocre at best. The children coming to the table to try to sell us something was a bit odd. Haven't experienced anything quite like this before. Now for the good stuff, the pretzel was stellar and the hatch chilies queso was some of the best queso I've had. The flight of beers I picked were tasty. I would probably come back for the queso.

Big kids play area in a field so far from the tables. 50% of the people were watching their kids which I was not impressed by. You don't get a vacation from parenting. Hot food from the food trailer took a bit to come out but the girl back there was working her butt off. The orders were coming in in large amounts because groups of people kept showing up. We bought a couple of tastings, and our bartender was super nice and informative without getting in our way of enjoying the spirits. We brought my mom to hang out and wow, my mom... she can throw them down. While I appreciated the strength of the vodka and the bourbon, my mom totally enjoyed the cinnamon moonshine. After trying out the distilled spirits, we went to the gift shop. I stocked up on some Shiner+Texas Standard gear, that now you can't really get anymore. The store is different than what you can get online, and vice versa... some of the stuff you might find online, you won't find in the in person store. After the tasting and shopping experience, we went to the new restaurant, which showcases the spirits and the seasonal beer. We also waited for the dessert. I enjoyed the bread pudding and we were lucky to try some practice rounds that the mixologists were trying out. All in all, we had a fun visit to one of my favorite places on the planet.

It was out in the open space and not in any town which gave it a nice country vibe. Upon entering we wanted some beer after our journey and we were hungry! I felt like this beer truly hit the spot! It was sweet but also crisp and clean too as we were adjusting to the Texas heat. We tried a few other beers that were in the area as well or from Texas, guest taps. As I said we were hungry and we decided to get a pizza. I don't remeber really the exact name of it but it was a combination type that had peppers, mushrooms, tomato and sausage. We also split a beef sandwich. We were very hungry! But we left very satisfied and Smithville Brewing proved to be a good stop!

For Father's Day, I surprised him with a trip to Yegua Creek Brewery here in McDade. What he DIDN'T know was that they were offering a Father's Day steak dinner special... Fresh-grilled steak. AND a beer of your choice. AWWEEEE SHITTTT. Happy Father's Day, Dougie Fresh. And when I say fresh-grilled, I mean you could literally WATCH your steak being cooked. They had a young man and his helper outside working the grill, cooking those steaks right in front of everyone. There's something about standing there with a cold beer while somebody is grilling your steak that just feels right. And the food? TOP NOTCH. Steak was fantastic, beer choices were plentiful, service was great, and the prices were very reasonable. But Yegua Creek is more than just somewhere to grab a beer and some food. The whole PLACE is an experience. There's plenty of seating, room to wander around, things to look at, live music at different times, nightly specials and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. It's also very family-friendly. And DOG-friendly. There were dogs hanging out all over the place, which obviously earns bonus points in our world. Grab some food. Grab a beer. Listen to some music. Walk around. Pet somebody's dog. Stay awhile. That's our kind of place. There's also a winery at the same location. We didn't try any of the wine products on this visit, so I'm not reviewing something we didn't experience. We're professionals over here, people. Well... "Professionals" may be stretching things. We're wearing pants and keeping score. That's close enough. Would we return to Yegua Creek Brewery? ABSOLUTELY. Good food Great beer selection Reasonable prices Great service Live music Family-friendly Dogs Relaxed Texas atmosphere And now... TW'S REAL PANTS RATING: -- 4 out of 5 Real Pants Would we leave the campground and put on real pants to come back? HECK YES. Four pants proudly awarded. Cold beer, grilled steak, live music and dogs wandering around? That's worth getting dressed for.
