    Burrito and enchiladas

It's pretty good. Got the dorados tacos and guacamole. It's legit Mexican food/ not many people here in a Friday. Also the only place we could find that serves alcohol. Beer only.

a plate of enchiladas and rice

12/9/2020, 7:08 pm Receipt# EFMCD9D1CJNZY I have been to this restaurant three time in the past 2 months. And they really aren't all that bad. I remember the El Mexicano that was in this very same spot for a long long time. They have some fairly decent food. But they're gone now, and La Gringa is here. In all, they are pretty darned good for a fresh start up. The meal I ordered is chicken enchiladas with rice & beans and chips & salsa on the side. In all three visits the wait staff were slow to greet, but they are trying their best, so I'll give them 3 stars. (3/5) The setting is a little different than what El Mexicano had. They ditched the carpet, which is good. They added a lot of light, which I think is overdone. And I did not hear any music. Music goes great with a meal, in my opinion. So two stars works for this. (2/5) The chips and salsa, well, the chips are chips where ever you go. But the salsa, that makes a big difference. I prefer cilantro in the salsa, and there was no cilantro. It was also soupy, which really isn't bad, but I prefer chunkiness as well, with the soupyness. I think that half pico de gallo and half soupy salsa with cilantro would be killer. It did help the rice and enchiladas as well. So I'll give that 4 stars. (4/5) The rice was not bad, I may be wrong about this, but I'm thinking it resembled instant rice. Instant rice in a restaurant? Bad idea. One star. (1/5) The beans were done well. They came with a splotch of shredded cheese. Four stars. (4/5) There was an addition of lettuce, shredded cheese, and chopped tomato. That added to the meal very well. Four stars. (4/5) Now for the meal itself. The chicken enchiladas. The red sauce was flavorful. The cheese was creamy and good. The sour cream, really? Sour cream goes well with an enchilada, but in this case it was only as an adornment, no taste to the sour cream. The chicken meat was dry. I think they would be better off using dark meat as it has a higher fat content thus more implied moisture. In all the enchilada pulls three stars. (3/5) Then, the cost. The enchilada platter was $12.99, drink was $2.99, total after tax was $17.22. Was it worth it? Well, the meal was not bad, but I think it's over priced. So I think that three stars covers the price. (3/5) Total score, three out of five stars. As I said, I could be wrong about the rice, but if I am and it's not instant, then that's even worse. There is a lot of room for improvement, but as I said, they are trying. And I'm not including the score for not having handicapped parking....

Very good and authentic Mexican food. The red sauce is amazing, just the right amount of spice.

Both the burrito and the enchilada were generous in size and covered in gooey, melted cheese.

During our meal I saw an employee go into the bathroom. She did come out with dripping wet hands but did she use soap? The menus is simple. We ordered the chicken taquitos and a burrito. My server seemed new and wasn't sure about things. He kept asking for help. I was asked to wait quite a few times. It wasn't bad, just seemed like the blind leading the blind. The prices posted on the menu weren't exactly accurate. I was charged more than it showed. Not much, but it was inaccurate. The drink machine was sticky. Every time I pushed the lever I had to stop early or my cup would over flow because it was sticky and kept pouring. It needs a good cleaning. The food was surprisingly good. The chili verde meat was tender and the taquitos were crisp and flavorful. The spice was perfect. Overall, It was ok. I would just like to see a few things better stocked and cleaned.

Someone else in our party ordered the special for that day: the beef and shrimp fajitas. They didn't give her a receipt and they were taking forever to fix her food. We had to follow up with them. And when they finally brought out her food, they did apologize but also said they forgot to fix her food. Interesting.

It does take quite some time to make so if you're able to then I would order ahead. This was a food stand in Filmore Utah, they have a sink if u need to wash your hands and a cute photo stand. The man was so sweet and patient. All our food also came with a few pieces of candy. Now for the food, I don't usually like beans, but these were so good. I loved it, ate every last piece. It was amazing. Must try so I would get a combo, it's worth it. Got the Quesabirria and this was a little messy to eat but so worth it. This was not really spicy for me, but the worker gave us like 10 hot sauces so it was all cool. The Tacos Combo and Crispy Tacos were also good, the crisp does very much satisfy. The burrito was quite large, it was filled to the brim thing was absolutely packed. My favorite was definitely the Quesabirria though, it was just full of flavor and everything tied together so well. Beans are a little odd (watery, odd texture) but the taste is good. The rice, which I normally leave, was excellent. I had the 3 hard taco plate, one chicken, two beef. Very good. The only complaint was the bottom of the shells were filled with potato so they can save $$$ on the meat. It was very good but be honest about it. Hubs had the chicken enchilada plate and a pork taco, also very good. The salsa on the enchiladas was amazing. Some rickety chairs are provided under a not so shady tree so plan to eat in the car or find a park with some shade.
