Now I know why I haven't come here in five years. The same thing happened last time. We got here at 4:53. Host said the bar opens at 5 o'clock. We're like OK no problem. We can wait. She wouldn't let us sit at the bar she wanted us to stand by the entrance door when it's 105° out. Not that it's any of their business but we'd actually just come from the Mayo hospital. So my wife walks up to the bar and takes a seat. If this was a mom and Pop operation, they would open us with welcome arms. The lobster tacos were savory and sweet, you will lick your plate clean. The side of rice and beans was ginormous and perfect for sharing. My partner and I chose this spot for date night because I'm a big tequila fan. We made a reservation and were seated right away, which was great. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. It took 25 minutes for our server to come take our drink order, and another 15-20 minutes after that to place our food order. We were starving by the time anything happened. We started with the guacamole sampler (see photo--half-eaten because I couldn't wait any longer). I also ordered a flight of Añejo tequilas and two cocktails, which were both excellent and well-made. When we finally flagged the server down again, we added the Birria tacos. They arrived as three small minis for $30. If you eat Birria regularly at authentic local taco shops or stands, these were underwhelming--nothing special in flavor or portion, and definitely not worth the price. I've had far better (and more generous) versions for a fraction of the cost. By the time the tacos arrived the server did not circle back so ordering anymore food could have taken another 20 minutes and by this time it was 9pm and we were over it. Overall, the experience felt subpar, especially given the long waits and high prices for mediocre food. We stay at the Fairmount every Christmas and some other times throughout the year, but after this dinner, I doubt we'll return to eat here again. read more

We stayed at the Fairmont over the 4th of July weekend, and for convenience, it was nice to reserve at La Hacienda for dinner. Wow! We ordered the fajitas mix and the Grilled Beef Tlayuda, and it was sad. The fajitas are rubbed with an overwhelming achiote type seasoning so everything tastes the same. Worse is that all three items chicken, shrimp and beef were way overcooked. The Tlayuda is a glorified Taco Bell tostada, but chewy so not even that good. Great dining experience here. The restaurant is beautiful, service was top tier and everything was delicious. They start you off with some chips and salsa which always hits the spot. We ordered some guacamole too, which is made table side to your liking. We decided to order a few different items to share, the lobster tacos, chicken fajitas, and the carnitas hacienda. We went to La Hacienda on a Friday night--it was relatively busy, and I'm glad we made reservations. We started with the chips and salsa, which were incredible--fresh, crisp chips and salsa with just the right amount of kick. I ordered a skinny spicy margarita, and it had amazing flavor with just the right heat. For dinner, we had the chicken fajitas and a side of plantains. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The server asked if it was OK to bring out extra corn tortillas, but didn't mention there would be a $1 charge per tortilla. She was otherwise very attentive and friendly, but it would have been nice to know about the charge ahead of time. Came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The food was average at best. Every table gets a large basket of chips when seated. Those were a great starter. Had an amazing family dinner night Saturday at La Hacienda. Started with their chips and salsa, and shrimp empanadas which were delicious. First up I would like to say this was a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere, ambience, decor all really cool. The tequila bar has some great tequilas. This is located in the princess resort and from arrival to nightcap it was a great time. It started off with the valet. Joe was super friendly, provided direction to the restaurant which was just a short walk across the courtyard. It was Wednesday night and a little later in the evening around 7:30-8 so it wasn't overly crowded. They accept reservations and I would recommend that especially on the weekend. We were greeted immediately and taken to a nice table across from the tequila bar. The staff came over from the bar with menus and took drink orders and made some nice recommendations. The lavender margarita smelled and tasted delicious. The tequila old fashioned was the first surprise of the night. A slight Smokey and nutty flavor and the smell was amazing. At $25 it was a little pricey but you aren't coming here to save money. The total dinner with appetizers, drinks, and a split entree dessert and specialty coffee was just under $200 before the tip. It was plenty of food so I would say overall the value was great for the experience. It started with unlimited chips and salsa. The chips were delicious, and thick so they were perfect because we ordered the sampler guacamole. It was pomegranate, elote, and carnitas. The pomegranate was a sweet surprise. We ordered tempiquena entree. It was skirt steak with a molé enchilada. The steak was not bad but the enchilada and molé sauce was delightful. With roasted corn on the cob. Across the restaurant we could see flames and sparks and when the staff came over they told us it was coffee from the dessert menu. They had me at fire so of course we had to check out the menu. I can say that I drink a lot of coffee and this was amongst the best I have had. The dessert, well the picture doesn't do it enough justice because it was decadent. Unique Guacamoles made with Sweet Corn and Pomegranates and some fantastic Lobster Tacos. Main dishes we had were the Barbacoa de Res and Carnitas Hacienda. For desert a Sweet Corn Tres Leches cake and Mexican Chocolate Tart. One of the nicest Mexican restaurants that I have ever been too.
