I hadn't been to this restaurant in years, but I recently went for dinner with my adult daughter on a Sunday night. It was good. Taqueria Moroleon tries to be a cut above your standard Tex-Mex, burrito, and red beans and rice Mexican restaurant. I The folks in charge here provide interesting menu options, fresh tasty food and all in a pleasant casual setting. It's a pretty big place with an inviting bar area, and the kitchen seems to keep up with everything easily. For dinner we tried the birria taco special and a spiced sliced beef dish that came with two cheese enchiladas and additional tortillas for the beef. Both dishes were enjoyable. On a weekend night we were looking for a sit down Mexican restaurant near Kennet or Avondale. Several years ago we ate at Taqueria Moroleon, noting it was moderately expensive for Mexican food. First impression the food prices are at lest 30% above a realistic rate. Once seated, I was tempted to leave. We should have. The food was overcooked, the chicken was dry and difficult to cut with a rubber like texture. The service was worse than the food. When we were seated I asked for two small plates for the salsa and chips. After waiting 10 minutes I asked a second time, with yet another delay. In the duration of our meal, the waitress walked past our table five times and didn't ask if evething was OK, or if we needed a drink, nothing. I had to flag her down to get a second drink. She didn't even ask my wife if she wanted a second drink! Talk about impolite! The Ambiance was as if we were in a construction zone. The bus service was pushing multiple chairs around and wheeled out a large two tear cart piling on dishes, glasses and silverware rather hurriedly as if he had a deadline to meet. One star? I felt that was generous for the overall impression. I will sumarize by stating we will no longer consider eating there. Additionally there was no manager on the scene of this scattered free for all venue. I know there is much better Mexican food in the area, and this facility not worthy to be ranked among them. read more

Food is always good, last Saturday extremely busy and the bartenders looked overwhelmed. Margherita's were rushed and not as good as usual. Friendly service but looked a little bothered. Order was messed up and I just ate it. Missing peppers :) this was the first time I have had an average experience here. Most of the time really good. 04-11-26 7pm. I absolutely love this restaurant! The staff is always so friendly and accommodating no matter what you need, they make it happen. I especially love seeing the friendly manager Geraldine when I walk in, and the best bartender Karla always makes the perfect drinks. I've been a number of times and the food is usually exceptional, but the service is always hit or miss...having to ask for small plates and silverware for apps multiple times, no salad dressing for salad, being given the wrong order, etc. This even happens when it isn't busy. We ventured across the border to share lunch with GF's family while we were in town. I started with their michelada which was absolute CRACK. I sucked that baby down and ordered another. We ordered their spicy queso dip as an appetizer. It was very good but a little bit on the liquidy/runny side which makes not dripping it all over the damn table and yourself challenging. Interestingly, their menu online is not the same as the menu from which you order in the restaurant. They do have a vegetarian section, which I very much appreciated. I like a lil variety so I ordered the bean burrito and bean tostada. With my dish, there was nothing special here, just down to earth, no frills, Mexican food. The tostada was probably my favorite part: a crisp tortilla with refried beans, iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, avocado, and some delicious white cheese and sauce (maybe sour cream?). A few dollops of hot sauce makes it shine. I do not recall much about the burrito but it was probably similar ingredients inside of a tortilla. Great service and delicious food. We were a large group. Our group had the carne asada plate, chicken enchiladas, fish with mango sauce, steak fajitas, shrimp a la Diablo and quesadillas. Everything was delicious. The only thing that would have made it 5 stars for me is if they had skinny margaritas with agave. They only had regular with the really sweet stuff. read more

Not spicy and weak. My first time here. Might be my last. From the watered down frozen margarita sans chimole ( they have none) to the watered down non spicy spicy cheese dip, nothing but disappointment with the flavors here. It was nice that they had chicken enchiladas with mole, but once again very bland. Not spicy or sweet. I'll keep looking for some place around here which has tasty Mexican food. Came for dinner and they said the wait was about 25-30 minutes. However, we were seated in about ten. We had the ceviche and the nachos with chicken. Plenty of shredded chicken and cheese on the nachos and the ceviche tasted fresh. We had margaritas with the salt and finished the basket of tortilla chips waiting for our food! Ordered the chicken fajitas and it was piled high with chicken onions and peppers on a large sizzling skillet. Dessert was the fried ice cream / one strawberry and one vanilla and we loved every spoonful. This is a such a great place for good food for not a lot of money. read more

This is another restaurant, that has left us disappointed. We got seated quickly, & our waitress seemed over eager to take our order, but we just sat down 3 minutes ago & were obviously still viewing the menu. We finally got our orders taken, but our waitress disappeared out of sight & we waited nearly 35 minutes for our food. We both got a skirt steak dinner, my steak was good, but the Chile releno had virtually no flavor. My wife's steak was on the cold side, but we had no intention on sending it back after waiting so long. This will be our last time here. read more

First, for the second time I am noting for all that this restaurant is NOT CLOSED. They MOVED a year ago to 9173 Gap Newport Pike in Avondale PA (just outside Kennett Square). Now, on with the show. Dearest Hubby, Faithful Dining Companion, two kids and one Other headed out there to bravely give it another go as we were visiting nearby Longwood Gardens and we were hungry. I'm glad we went back. The "new" restaurant location, formerly an Italian restaurant, still mostly evokes Italy, with some more 'Mexican" art. It is not tacky though and mostly quite lovely. We were seated at a round table, very comfortable with good room for dishes and such. Our waiter greeted us promptly with a basket of chips and bowls of medium red salsa and verde spicy salsa. Darling Hubby the Arizonan was in heaven. Now, for whatever reason, the hostess brought us six adult menus. We assumed from this that either the kids menu was embedded in the larger menu or there were no special kids dishes. The waiter didn't disclose to us that there was a kids menu indeed until we were ordering. *sigh*. Anyhow, we ordered undeterred by this. Having had one super-slow experience, we ordered a Nachos Supreme to ward off hunger complaints from the 5 and 9 year olds. They were excellent, nice balance of chips, tons of toppings, positively yummy. Entrees: Tampiqueña a la Parrilla - outstanding. Pollo Campesino - outstanding. Mango salad with this was particularly yummy, and shrimps were fantastic. Shredded Pork Enchiladas - excellent, ordered with the extra kick of verde sauce. Flautas Pollo - the one and only flop. Bland, tasteless, and curiously dry. Flautas vary quite a bit by region, in this case though I don't think it was a regional thing. Really, they need to rethink this dish adding something like grilled onion or cheese with the chicken. I am not bothering reviewing the kids' dishes. One got tacos, one got quesadillas. They were eaten, kids were happy. Most importantly, the food arrived promptly, hot, and well prepared. We finished up with one deep fried ice cream - mmmmmmmmmmm and two kids' ice creams which they loved. Service in general was prompt, attentive and friendly. We're relieved & pleased with our second visit, and will be sure to make a trip out there again! read more

I have been a loyal customer for years. I can't believe how much this place has gone down. I waited 2 hours for a meal that came out all wrong. I ordered a beer and it took forever to come out and when it did it was warm and only half full. The food was not good. I hate to say this but I will not be coming back. Was very disappointed on Valentines Day. I ate hear 3 years ago and the food was awesome. "What the Hell Happened" Ordered Fajitas, Chimichangas and Tacos for takeout. They all literally had no taste..it was bland. I asked my wife and she agreed. I rate them a 5 out of 10. Great presentation with lack of taste. They really need to season their food. This was such a fun place to go on Christmas Eve Eve. The restaurant was relatively empty so we were seated quickly. The waiters were very friendly even with the quickly approaching holiday. The band was walking around playing done Spanish songs - even Feliz Navidad! It was very festive while we waited for our meal. The first thing I ordered was a mango margarita (they were out of peach). It was large and strong. I liked they asked if I wanted anything on the rim. The cup had a little cactus stem - which was sticky - but nonetheless cute. While waiting for our drinks, they bright over chips and two types of salsa. One was spicy and I've was mild. The more mild salsa tasted fresher. For our appetizer, we order the trio dip player of guacamole, cheese, and pico. Very fresh, I'd recommend these dips only if you have a large group otherwise they might go to waste since you get free salsa. Next our meal quickly arrived at the table. I ordered veggie fajitas, which were weird. I've NEVER had broccoli and cauliflower in fajitas and the large florets were not conducive for filling a tortilla. The food was good, but it was weird. I would have been happier with mushrooms and more peppers. I know it wasn't included but it would also be nice to get guacamole on the sides plate. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals so maybe it's just the fajitas that have we weird ingredients. Overall, this is a good place to go with a group to enjoy a nice meal. My family has frequented this place since I was a kid. Food hasn't changed. Sometimes service can be slow. Seafood soup on the weekends is a must. Red snapper is flakey off the bone. Beans are super creamy and hearty. Good is consistently great, service is just slow at times. read more
