Best Mexican food in town. Cheap prices on drinks and food, plus amazing lunch and happy hour specials. Always snag a beer and a snack here on the weekend. Go once, try something, then go again even if you didn't like your food the first time. The menu is so diverse you could definitely have something you don't like then come back and have the best food you've had in years. Staff is super nice, and treats everyone like regulars but once you get to know them they only get nicer. Only complaint is the seating sucks on weekends or when there are large groups. Wish they're were more dividers or that 20+ groups just wouldn't come here. Try the summer, when the patio is open and the seating is less cramped. Live music isn't great either, but they keep changing bands so maybe that'll get better too. read more

I was in the area Thursday December 13th and stopped here for lunch. What a nice surprise place was clean, service was fast. We had the house chips and queso which was good. friendly staff, fantastic food. after kayaking the beaver river we were hungry. when my date suggested stopping at the mexican place, i was a tad leery...there were no cars in the parking lot and we were in new castle (!). i just didn't expect anything good to come of it. since he was really in the mood for mexican i reluctantly agreed and i am so thankful i did. the salsa was incredible and the chips were above average, the guacamole was fresh and delicious. our meals were generously portioned and extremely reasonable in price. we left full and slightly sad that we were unable to order the fried ice cream, but vowing to return and save room next time. the second kayak trip down the beaver river added a boy who is 12 and he asked to go to la isla after hearing us talk about it. he is a huge eater (growing boys usually are) and loved everything he tried, plus was full at the end of the meal. that is a big deal for the picky diabetic! his dad and i had to split the fried ice cream because we still barely had room in our happy bellies, but we were thrilled with each bite. (oh, i should add that on the way out the boy was so happy with the place that he even agreed to pose for a picture with the life sized wooded statues that are by the door. his "no photo" phase means this is a more than massive compliment to the restaurant and our experience!) would give la isla more stars if i could. read more

Friendly and nice staff. Food was good I got the build your own taco. Haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure if they still have it. But went there with a large group of people we reserved a spot a few days before. Small seating but in the summer time they have outdoor seating as well. read more

Yuck! The cheese tastes like velveeta, tbe seasoning might please folks that have never had authentic Mexican food but having grown up on the real deal, I am not impressed. Take a short drive east on state ansd have real authentic Mexican meals. read more

Used to be a local favorite. Food, margaritas and service have all gone down hill as of late. Most of the good staff is gone.

I can't comment on the food here because 25 minutes after we were instructed to take any open seat, which there were plenty of. Unfortunately all of them were dirty. After we wiped our own table down, we were promptly served chips and salsa. Then we sat for 30 minutes without any drinks. We then got up and walked out. Thanks for the chips! read more

Ok service, food was very bland, had better tasting tacos at Taco Bell and that's sad to say!! Won't go back and waste money there.

Very good food and good prices. The salsa is excellent & I especially like the Don Luis nachos, the enchiladas, and the large mixed drinks.

Love La Isla! Been there 3 or 4 times, love the food and the margaritas are awesome! Also love that the waiters converse in spanish because it really does give you that feeling of being authentic...which it is. I played for several years at various Mexican restaurants serenading customers while they ate and we would always eat where we played and I say La Isla is one of the best. Average Mexican Restaurant...very fun on the weekends as far as good cheap (as in price not quality) Margaritas that get you in that party mood and spirit. The restaurant could be a little cleaner and maybe they have worked on that since I have been there last. It is a nice place to hang out when the weather is good outside on the patio. read more
