The waitress was clearly new or just didn't care to promote herself. When the best part of the meal were the free chips, and those were stale, you have a problem. If you have severe food allergies - avoid. I cannot have gluten or dairy. I ordered my food without cheese or sour cream. When my food came out, it had both cheese in the refried beans and sour cream over my flautas. I asked the server if I could please have a new dish. She brought it back in record time. I found a small speck of sour cream on the flautas, meaning they scooped off the toppings, added new ones without dairy, and sent it back to my table. I'm not deathly allergic to dairy or gluten so I ate it, but just want anyone who does have a severe allergy to be aware. Also, the drinks they serve are non alcoholic mocktails. It is, however, BYOB and there is a liquor store in the plaza close by and a beer distributor close by as well. The staff were nice, the food was delicious, and the food came quick. I got the Quesabirria it was very good packed with flavor. It did not come out as hot as I would like it and was just warm. I originally wanted the birria tacos but this was the better option. Less mess! The chips and salsa was very good! Not stale and not super salty. The waitress was extremely thoughtful and caring with my picky toddler. I think the environment/decor was just fine. My wife and I have eaten at Los Mayas in Zelie 4 times. All of our experiences have been great! We had delivery once, takeout twice, and dine-in once on their outside patio. My wife has tried a variety of their menu items (enchiladas, street tacos (pictured below), nachos, etc), and I always get the same two items: steak texacano fries and chicken quesadillas. I absolutely love the texacano fries! Flavor explosion! (Pictured below) Whether ordering pick-up online, delivery, or eating in, the service has always been great. Food is cooked perfectly, timely, and with great portion sizes; all at reasonable prices! We've also tried their churros and fried ice cream for dessert (pictured below); both of which were legit! Talk about a breath of fresh air when it comes to Mexican food. This restaurant checks off all the boxes, but none more important than a delicious meal. They do not skimp on the portion sizes and somehow our meal was under $45 (for reference, we ordered a lot of food). They are BYOB, which I'm glad we didn't know as I enjoyed my Horchata and coke. If you bring your own tequila you can also mix it in their margarita mixes. The table-side queso with chorizo, the enchiladas and their chips and salsa we're all perfection. Great first experience at Los Mayas, located unassumingly in a strip mall plaza just north of downtown Zelie. They have a few outdoor umbrella tables & lots of indoor seating. They are BYOB, but if you bring tequila or rum they have a whole list of drinks they'll make you for $5-7, like margarita & mojitos. We were not aware that they were BYOB so we just had water. You get a big basket of tortilla chips and the salsa is quite good, we had two small bowls which is on the house. I ordered the seafood fajitas which came with scallops shrimp and tilapia and onions and peppers, four tortillas and then beans rice and sour cream. My husband had a quesadilla with shrimp & chicken. Today I drove from Erie to Zelienople to visit with family. I ordered our order around 3:30 pm to be done around 4:45pm. I ended up getting to the restaurant at 5:15pm because of needing to stop on our drive. When I got there I was asked my name for the take out order, they went into the kitchen and continued to bring out other take out orders and ask if it was me. I told them no and continued to wait. One of the girls had asked to see my receipt to check for my food. They ended up not having my order done, let alone given to the kitchen. Initially the gentleman said that someone picked my order up about an hour ago. Which was not true. The gentleman, who I assume to be the owner or management, was talking to the one girl who I had asked for a reimbursement because at this point it was 5:30 or so. I heard the gentleman say "it's $77", "we are making it now". So I continued to wait and another girl had spoken with me because she noticed I was there for a long time. She checked with the gentleman again to see how far along the order was because I had asked for it to be reimbursed or at this point anything. She told me the order was being bagged up as we speak.
