My friend and I came here while walking around the area, and we loved it!! It's such a cute set up. For my gluten free peeps - they have gluten free crackers (amen). The cheese, meat, fruit, and wine was all delicious and fresh, and I was extremely tempted to buy huge slabs of cheese to take home, lol. We easily got a seat, although I have a suspicion this isn't common - so I'd prepare to scope it out or wait a little for things to shift if you're just walking up to it. I will say that for the price, the portion sizes for the food are slightly small (you can see my photo), but also... it's union market.

Came up to Union Market for lunch before leaving DC. Grabbed a sandwich elsewhere and a glass of wine from La Jambe. Very friendly owner, really knows his wines, and served in a real glass since I was sitting right nearby. Well done!

Had an absolutely lovely time here. 4 people we got a couple bottles of wine and a cheese board. There was a ton of cheese and every single one was so fresh and flavorful. The service was quick and friendly.

Just stumbled across this place. Came in on a rainy day for a drink. I got the glen moray and a rose flight. All were definitely good. Got a nice buzz for a Friday. Nolan took care of us and was real knowledgeable about the drinks.

5 star street market experience. Take on this place with passion and friendship in mind. This is not fast service. In house infused alcohols making custom, superior drink cocktails. The drinks will be explained as well as the inspiration behind them. Friendly staff, great drinks and inviting spot, as soon as you enter the market! This is my second time here and I've enjoyed it both times.

I'm his place never disappoints... always yummy charcuterie boards and bougie drinks. Service takes a while because they are so purposeful about their creations, so I appreciate that... it definitely feels like the fanciest option at union market! Love it!

The cheese plate was really good! The small plate is actually really big. The orange wine was okay. I definitely recommend coming here.

Super cute. The rose cider was light and sweet. Service was attentive and informative. Next time, excited to have meats and cheeses.

It was my first time trying this place out, I am Very confused why it's rated so low. The sandwiches were delicious, pretty good wine selection and french ciders. They could improve the menu, it's very small, not a lot food options, besides that everything that I trying here was great.

    Just Cheese Board!

I went to this location I think twice, and I had been to the one in Shirlington at least once on a date in 2016. Like 2016 Shirlington, Thursday, May 1, 2014 was a date at the Alexandria Cheestique. I had met my date at a speed dating event at the Shirlington Library on Sunday, April 27, 2014. We actually had our 1st date afterward at Guapo's in Arlington, which was a good date. I picked Del Ray since it was my neighborhood (so convenient), and Del Ray does a First Thursday Neighborhood event. So, I thought it'd be fun. But May 1, 2014 was a crappy day. On a typical day, I'd have work travel from my office in Hanover, MD to various places in VA, MD, or DC. However, I was annoyed that day as I either had to stay in the office the whole day or had work travel somewhere and had to come back to the office that afternoon for a meeting or something. So, frustrated, I had a long commute leaving my office at 5 PM to get back to Alexandria around 6:30. I was flustered in general and adversely affected the date. Because it was later, we didn't get to enjoy the First Thursday. Ultimately, unlike the 1st date, the 2nd wasn't very good. Experience with Cheesetique: This is a solid grilled cheese. Not your mom's grilled cheese, but a fancier version. It was a bit overpriced for 2014 pricing, but it was solid.

They claim to source from local suppliers when possible and their beef is humanely and pasture-raised. They also prepare fresh sausage, weekly. Also available here is food for animals, smoked meats, animal fat for cooking, and grill products. The prices are a bit steep considering the meat is some of the highest quality you can get without having access to a local farm or raising and butchering your own livestock. The customer service is friendly. I do recommend researching and having knowledge of the specific cut of meat you desire before going to this butcher or any butcher for that matter. Butchers have a tendency to recommend alternatives when they are out of a specific cut. Many times they are spot on, but for the seemingly uneducated it can be an opportunity for bad businesses to offload a lesser or expiring cut for as much if not more expensive. On one visit I wanted boneless short rib and the butcher here appropriately recommended Denver cut which is the alternate name for this cut. A novice might not know this. Overall a good experience. I'll visit again when in the area.

FSG is sandwiched between One Good Tern Wild Bird store and Simply Fish restaurant in an odd layout of a strip mall off Quaker and Braddock in Alexandria. The owners are so very helpful, patient and kind. The prices are also comparable to bigger stores and chains. And, of course, they do generous case discounts. We normally buy cases of the Le Petit Duc La Porte (glad I'm typing it because I can't pronounce it) and we get a better price at Fern Street Gourmet than what they're selling it for at Whole Foods. Off-street parking is almost always available here. I know they do tastings, too, but have never been to one. It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Turns out that one of the owners is a Marylander, which is cool to see reflected in the decor in a place in dc, even though it is next door. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs.
