    Fried clam strips
    Jeanna G.

After off roading yesterday we stopped in here at the Patio Drive In for a bite to eat. My boyfriend and his friend have come here before and kept telling us about how good the chicken fingers were here so we decided to come check it out. Cute little mom and pop place serving up some pretty good mexican meals along with other american staples. We ordered up some fried clam strips with homemade tartar sauce that were pretty good and the empanada appetizer. The fried clam strips had a nice crunchy exterior with a chewy clam belly in the middle. The empanadas were nice and refreshing with some salad and sour creme. The chicken fingers lived up to their expectations and everyone was pleased. I love that they serve kens honey mustard dressing with them. There truly is no better combination. Next time we stop in I am going to have to try out one of their blueberry sundaes. They looked amazing but i was so full.

First time there and did not like the food at all. Very blend. On the pictures they had guacamole with supreme nachos. Seems like they didnt offer that and wanted us to pay extra if we wanted guac.

Super cute little spot. Just finished a dinner there. Mexican food was excellent and very good service. Family owned, very authentic.

Always a favorite to bring out of town guests for just a slightly different dining experience…read more I've brought people from California, northern Nevada, upstate NY and now, from Ireland. As always, the fried calamari did not disappoint. Love, love, love. The fresh mussels are always top notch with tasty broth and that mix of chunky tomatoes and slightly spicy but flavorful chorizo is a favorite with our table. And on a cold day, the crab bisque was exactly what I was craving. The Irishman just wanted a grilled salmon, and though it wasn't on the weekend lunch menu, the kitchen obliged and he enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the server accidentally spilled soup on the Irishman's brand new $400 Barbour coat. Yikes. No worries, we cleaned it up and told the guy not to worry about it. The server still felt bad about it and comped us our coffees and a dessert we split between three.

In the interim,…read moreit was visited by Guy Fieri and the DDD crew and our dining partners like the mussels here so we tried it again. The food generally was just ok. The clams casino and class Mexicali were passable but not particularly flavorful. The octopus in the octopus salad was rubbery rather than tender. The oyster po' boy was the anomaly and was delicious, full of oysters and a nice remoulade. The staff was either dense in the head or rude trying to seat a disabled person in a power chair in an already crammed corner of a full dining room rather than in the very empty adjacent room. The place needs a thorough cleaning (floors super sticky) and the rest rooms are not accessible although there is a hidden one somewhere on site as was discovered but it was found to be without any heat on this 40F day. Nice views of the marsh.

Kids were running around laughing and playing, everyone was in a great mood. People pulling in and out on their boats. The ambiance is the real winner here hands down. I will say that $15 for my teeny tiny wings (although they were delicious AF) was a bit much. I think next time I come (because I will go back, it's that great of a vibe) I'll just stick to the happy hour menu and hopefully won't feel as disappointed. Or at least get an actual meal for $15 and not just wings... I saw a few comments about the slow service and I noticed that too. It took a little longer than expected to get service once I was seated. But once the order was placed, everything did come out very quickly for me and the table next to me. I figure with any kind of waterfront/relaxed bar atmosphere you should anticipate a slightly slower experience than a typical restaurant and it didn't bother me at all. All in all I think it was a great afternoon and I'll definitely be back to try a few more things.

So glad that we did because it was excellent with great staff. We all really enjoyed the food. I loved my crab cake sandwich. It was so moist and flavorful. My husband loved his turkey platter. The gravy was delicious and the turkey was moist. My father in law enjoyed his burger. It was a good menu and tight in the middle of the cute little town. Would love to go back and try other things.

Served quickly and hot in a big, wide bowl. It looked good. Had small, irregularly sized potatoes and chopped carrots. The broth was a little thicker than I imagined or had tasted before in other restaurants, or in the one I make. Clams were tiny and, as you'd expect from a can. Not fresh clams. In fact, you can put all the clams found in chowder in a single tablespoon. Even found a whole bay leaf in it, which should have been removed before serving it. So, how is the chowder? I've had better from canned chowder, and the one I make is way better. Zero stars for the chowder. Next up is the Turkey platter with sliced turkey (hard and dry), 1 ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes (ok, nothing special), 1 ice cream scoop of stuffing (totally disgusting, and had corn in it), string beans (with vine still attached), gravy (terrible), and a little cup of cranberries (decent). Total fail. The waitress was ok, though stopping by every 5 minutes to ask if everything was good was quite annoying. The 'ice water gentleman' was great. You never asked for water, and when the glass was 1/2 empty, he was there refilling it. Great job! The final score of 2 stars is for the historic inn's ambiance and layout. We won't be back, and do not recommend.
