I don't often rate a place this low. I don't know if I ever have. Let's just start with. It's a diner, which is simple. The seating is typical. It appears to be reasonably newly remodeled, but the air conditioning was nonexistent. Sweating in my seat was not comfortable. The server seemed to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder. It took a extended period of time for her to return just to place our initial order setting that aside we figured we are good to go 45 minutes later we finally got our two eggs over easy with sides couldn't be much more simple than that 45 minutes. Wait was insane. They were not busy either. So to the most important part of the food we waited 45 mns for. 2 eggs over easy came out over hard. The sausage was sitting on the grill too long clearly potato's just ok. Sour dough toast was pretty good but at this point we are already sour on this location. I have noticed a lot of people complain about the pricing but I didn't see it as too crazy until we ended up sitting in a diner for over an hour. With the above avg prices at least do a good job. The table next to us ordered an eggs Benedict and there were no eggs on it! I thought they were kidding but nope. Table across from us left prob 35mns before us and the table was still not clear. Terrible. Maybe just an unfortunate day and things happen but this had so many levels of bad I will not be giving it another shot sorry. read more

We had two fish and chips, a burger and fries, and a Belgium waffle with eggs for dinner. They don't give you a breakfast menu for dinner but like all great diners, you can ask and order anything from the breakfast menu for dinner and of course it was delicious. The fish and chips were excellent! Very crispy with juicy tender white fish, perfectly battered and cooked. Not too salty, which some places get wrong. Generous portions. Seasoned waffle fries with the fish. My son is a super picky eater and he got a bacon cheeseburger, well done. He slammed it down. He's been known to take one bite and leave the rest. Very eclectic and although updated, still felt old school in the best way. The place was also very clean - you can tell they take a lot of pride in their restaurant. There were plenty of options on the menu to choose from. It was honestly hard to decide since everything sounded so good. I settled on the UWS toast which was covered with fresh guac, veggies, and the most perfect soft boiled eggs. It was light and delicious. Just went to have a nice Fathers Day breakfast. Have been to 39 a few times and food is always fantastic. Unfortunately we had a server that either had a bad night before or had too many tables or isn't paid enough but I literally had to get up to ask her for water after sitting for more than 7 minutes. Doesn't sound like a long time but being ignored is not a good thing. Food came and kudos to the chefs-again, fantastic food but server shouldn't be working on busy days. I recently ordered to go food from 39 degrees and what I received was sad. The avocado toast which was $20 had two slices of avocado on. It looked like it was picked over. I have been waiting on the manager to return my call for 4 days and have yet to hear back from the manager Diego. The most recent time I called, the front desk told me "I won't be hearing back from the manager" and then hung up on me. This leads me to believe that the manager is now avoiding my calls refusing to rectify the situation. I've never experienced such poor customer service and professionalism. Complete transformation! Food is excellent, great variety and done perfectly. Good portion size, I enjoyed the chicken pot pie with a side of stuffed pepper soup.... So good! My girlfriend had a pastrami Rubin sandwich that took up the entire plate, loved it. Pricing is a little high but worth it once you dig in! Coffee is ground in house , each time a new pot is brewed. The menu is astounding, with truly craft meals, and an EXCEPTIONALLY talented cooking staff. They have a wide versatility for all your diner classics, but also some truly exciting and inspired originals. It takes a lot of skill for the cooks in the back to retain such a broad capability for so many novel meals. The Murder She Wrote chicken sandwich is astounding, with the smokiest, sweetest heat. The chicken itself is well marinated for what tastes like hours, uncommon for a normal diner joint. Don't get me started on the batter, too, which is fried to a golden-brown perfection, served atop sweat and pillowy brioche buns. We recently had dinner here and were glad to be seated about an hour before closing. The food was excellent. I ordered the chicken pot pie which is on the list of specials. It had just the right ratio of crust to filling. Service was very good. Our server was attentive throughout dinner and was quick with drinks and appetizers. He also was sure to check in on our needs before the kitchen closed and things were cleaned. It's a newly renovated place and it nice to see the old character of the diner. Most of the food is delicious for a diner but, the pricing is way off. They charge what a high end restaurant would charge and the portions are small. I was blown away when I ordered my son's $13 pancake kid meal and it was 5 of the tiniest silver dollar pancakes I had ever seen. They have no business charging that much In Manahawkin. We entered the diner to be seated by the hostess and were very impressed with the updated retro welcoming feel of it. The decor reminded me of a popular trending restaurant in Nashville. We asked to be seated outside and we were accommodated right away. We enjoyed sitting under the large umbrella and near the beautiful planters filled with Lillies and vinca vines. The menu is NOT overwhelming and very impressive. Some items I can't wait to try next time. We absolutely loved all of our meals and they were portioned perfectly and plated just right. This place has a fantastically large menu and executes consistently and fairly well on a wide range of dishes. Breakfast options are a good mix of sweet and savory, lunch options please a wide array of guests, and for dinner the place seemingly transforms from a diner feel into an upscale restaurant. They use really nice glasses and dinnerware here so everything feels expensive. The food is fairly expensive but the portions and quality are good. Things come out fast as well. Apparently they also don't use seed oils which is cool. Service is consistently fair but nothing amazing. The most recent visit we had a large group and I could see that they were hurrying us along so that they could turn our table over to a waiting party. Took my family of four (2 adults, 3 year old and 8 year old) for breakfast here this past Saturday. They have updated the building and I'm not going to lie it looks nice. We've been meaning to try it since it reopened and we finally got around to it. We ordered 2 kids chocolate chip pancakes, a Belgian waffle, and an order of pancakes. We also got 3 sides of sausage, a side of hash browns, 2 coffees and 2 orange juices. Pretty standard diner order, which we order everytime we go to any diner, so i didnt even think to look at the prices of sides and drinks. Food was OK, not great but not terrible. Chocolate chip pancakes didn't actually have chocolate chips in them, rather they poured chips over them (kind of lazy in my opinion). And then the bill came, and to my dismay it was 98 dollars for breakfast. I literally gasped when I saw the bill. They charge 8 dollars for a glass of orange juice, 3 dollars for a cup of coffee, and 6 dollars for a side of sausage that comprises of 2 little links. So 2 cups of orange juice, 2 coffees, 3 sides of sausage (6 links in total) cost me 40 dollars, just for sides and drinks. In what world do they think they charge these prices?? What an absolute joke. On top of being super pricey, they charge people more for using a card as opposed to cash. The first visit I had tacos, which were delicious, the meat was so tender. My second time there I had chicken pot pie special. Chicken, fresh peas and fresh vegetables, (HAND CUT) in a light, homemade gravy with a spectacular puff pastry. The owner is a chef who knows what he's doing.
