Have to start with saying that I appreciate La La Land and have been to other locations where I have had a good experience, but this was not up to par. This location is one of the more inefficient coffee shops or cafes I have been to. We went outside of the typical "peak" rushes but the wait was still ridiculously long. I think a wait for La La Land is always all but guaranteed because of their popularity, but the sad part is that the long wait wasn't because there was an incredibly long line. The amount of customers was what I would consider normal for a place like La La Land. This painstaking experience was solely due to the inefficiency of workers. There were at least 6 workers (on the floor) but only 1 making drinks and 1 handling orders (like a champ, plus she helped with drinks and was nice - she is the only reason I am giving 2 stars), with the other 4 loafing around between occasionally helping and staring into oblivion. I wish I could say that the customer experience was great at least, but the workers, apart from the one crushing it with the orders, were not engaging with the customers and it contributed to an overall negative energy. If it weren't for my friend who really wanted to try a new drink, I would have been out of there and probably never go back. It took us 40+ minutes from getting in line to ordering and there were less than 40 people in line ahead of us. It then took at least 10-15 minutes more for our 2 drinks, totaling a solid hour spent waiting here. With all these workers, they couldn't even average 1 customer ordering per minute. Also the online orders weren't available (trust me I tried) so this was only due to the customers physically in the building and it took that long! For the price you pay for the drinks, this experience definitely did not excite me to rush back here anytime soon. I think the consistency and quality of the drinks is generally good but I am not sure I would say it is worth it for the cost, time, and overall customer experience. read more

Drinks - Delicious Service - Once you speak to the cashier, they are very friendly Professionalism - Lacking. I couldn't believe how laid back the staff were. I am glad that the staff like their job, you can tell they are happy working there. I thought that the line was moving slowly because they were busy. But, while I was next in line, the one cashier working stepped aside TWICE to have side conversations (with lots of laughter) with two different co-workers making me and the customer in front of me wait. The matcha was fine but it's any ol matcha drink I could've gotten elsewhere. My dad preferred the matcha over his latte. The drinks were good but nothing special. Def not worth the long waits this place tends to attract. It was chaotic even with the small crowd, can't imagine what it would be like later on the day. I think all these dang mobile orders/advance orders are messing up the flow of the baristas. I felt so bad because one girl looked so frazzled when some women messed up her OWN mobile order. Always on a hunt for a good banana latte and found here at La La Land. I got the banana cloud latte which comes iced. You have the option to get it with espresso and or matcha! I got mines with espresso and it was so good. We always tried the Kieth Lee order which was a 4/5 (Strawberry Matcha). Service was pretty good with the exception of the lady sitting the tops that you drink from on the counter (not sanitary) and she got an attitude from me asking for a new top! Very busy place! I had heard so many great things about La La Land, so I was glad I finally got the chance to try it. My first attempt at their Grove location didn't work out, so I was pleasantly surprised that the wait this time wasn't too bad. It was probably because it was Coachella weekend. As soon as I got there, I ordered the banana cream matcha, and it was a delightful surprise. The banana flavor tasted natural rather than artificial, and the matcha added a nice layer of depth that balanced everything well. It was a unique combination that really worked. The main reason I'd take off a star is the wait time--it still felt a bit long for what it was. I can only imagine how busy it gets on a typical weekend. The staff seemed a little tired, which is understandable given how popular the place is, but overall the experience was still positive. The interior is absolutely beautiful, very aesthetic and clearly designed with Instagram in mind. It's definitely one of those places where you come for the vibe and the photos. I am not sure I would wait hours for La La Land, but it had a decent drink and if I was in the area and they had a short line, I would go back. I've been La La Land all over social media and since I was at the Grove, I definitely wanted to try. I got lucky and the line was only about 15 minutes. The employee was nice and I opted for the matcha latte. They have milk alternative, which is nice for a lactose intolerant like me. Drinks came out fairly quickly. They told us to wait outside where there is a pick up window. My matcha latte was pretty good, wasn't too strong and had a balance level of sweetness. Overall, I really liked the drink. I also tried the coffee latte, which wasn't my favorite, because the coffee was slightly too bitter for me. There's some seating inside and more seating outside. But even when I came during a slower time, there were no seats available. I was OK with it because I grabbed my drink and wandered around the Grove. Headed here on a busy Saturday afternoon with my wife and daughter, and it was packed. Makes total sense for this popular spot at the Americana. One confusing thing when you first walk in: figuring out the lines. There's a clear order line and a separate pickup line, and many people looked totally lost trying to figure it out. We jumped into the order line right away and the wait to place our order was not bad at all. But be prepared as drinks took over 30 minutes to come out. That said, it was absolutely worth it. My wife ordered the Banana Cloud Latte with matcha. My daughter got the Super Strawberry Milk and drank it so fast it was clearly a hit. I went with the World's Best Vanilla Latte with espresso, salted. They weren't kidding with the name. Not crazy sweet, perfectly balanced vanilla bean flavor with just the right touch of salt to make it delicious. Easily one of the better coffee drinks I've had in a long time. Smooth, flavorful, and satisfying. The cups they use are really neat too, cute and well designed, which added a nice touch to the whole experience. The bright, kind vibe of the place shines through even when it is slammed. If you're at the Americana shopping or strolling, this is a fun stop with creative drinks that deliver. Come for the dreamy lattes, stay for the long but rewarding experience. Just order ahead on the app if you can to skip some of the hassle. I have walked by this place many times, but finally went in today. When ordering, I let the cashier know that I was gluten free and that it was my first time. This was the first bad experience. It took her many minutes to find out if there were any consumable items other than the coffee and teas for me. There wasn't, which was surprising, but okay. Then I wanted to order my beverage and was asked a bunch of questions about their most popular drink, the banana ice latte, something I had never had, and subsequently find Artifical tasting and gross. I also got the hemp chia seed pudding which was incredibly delicious. The service was lacking, and generally not worth the price and a contrast to the bright and cheery interior. I don't recommend this place and won't be back. Go elsewhere if you need a latte. There's lots of options and you can both enjoy your drink and service with a smile. read more

Was browsing around at the Americana and stumbled upon this bougie yellow coffee shop so I decided to check out the menu. After reading the description for their specialty Banana Cloud Latte, I couldn't resist giving it a try.  The staff taking my order was very friendly and chatty - but she got my order wrong. She gave me a small instead of a medium even though we had a lengthy conversation about how tiny the small cups are and joked around that they looked like the sippy cups you give to babies.  So even though I asked for a medium, she rang me up for a small - which is about three sips of drink for $8 after tip - and unfortunately I didn't notice until I picked up my order. The espresso had a very smooth, nicely roasted flavor which I really enjoyed and it wasn't overly sweet. But there was hardly any banana flavor in the drink and the cloud top was thin and completely bland.  The place was packed and to-go orders were piling up on the counter - but the numerous staff behind the counter were not bothered - they weren't calling out any names and were chatting and goofing off amongst themselves mostly - leaving one very relaxed and unbothered lady making coffee after coffee by herself at her own sweet pace with no help - and leaving the customers to crowd around the orders and figure it out for themselves. The yellow and white decor is inviting and grandiose - tall ceilings and giant chandeliers - very much in keeping with the high end vibes of the Americana area. But they had the floor-to-ceiling windows open in their unshaded cafe and it was absolutely roasting inside and out. The outdoor seating was all in full sun with little to no shade and sun was pouring in and covering the inside tables as well. Definitely uncomfortable - I can't imagine this would be a pleasant place to "relax" in such hot weather. I was happy to get my tiny little iced latte and leave to find some shade to cool off.  Cute spot but overpriced and overhyped with customer service seriously lacking. Gave this spot another shot and I'm glad I did. I ordered the strawberry matcha and was surprised by how good it was. The matcha tasted high quality, smooth, and well balanced without being overly sweet. They use fresh strawberries as well which I enjoyed. This was not my experience the first time. The wait time after ordering can be a bit long but the staff are friendly and the service is great even though it's always busy in there. I'm obsessed with their strawberry drinks!!! Anything with the freshly ground strawberries is the best!!! I've had them deliver and been in person and the flavors are always consistent. Crowded but fast! We went on a Sunday afternoon so it was a bit crowded but the line went fast. We ordered the Strawberry cooler with lemonade, the Strawberry Fields Matcha Latte and the Matcha Squared Latte. All of them were very tasty. The matcha lattes were both sweetened well. Even though the Matcha Squared has extra matcha, it wasn't bitter at all. The strawberry cooler was a little on the sweet side, probably because it was made with lemonade. We might try it next time with tea instead. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Despite it being very busy they were able to get the drinks out very fast. My mom and I came here for an afternoon coffee/matcha break and it was about a 30-minute wait in line. Once the order was placed, the drinks came out fast. These were our orders: Perfect Latte (hot; $6.70): Perfect indeed! It's very creamy and light for an afternoon coffee. Matcha² Latte ($8.10+$0.85): I got this in large, sub oat milk. It tasted pretty good, but the matcha is a little grainy. They say it's ceremonial matcha from Uji on their website. There's limited seating available inside and outside the shop. The customer service at the cashier was great. They have avo toast, but I didn't get that. There is also a merch wall that sells their cups and coffee beans. My kids suckered me into try La La Land and I'm glad I'm did. Store was clean and tidy and busy. But the line goes quick. The cups are super cute. Even the straw is a heart shape. Second time trying this place and can see what the hype is about. Thankfully, when we went the line wasn't very long, which was a plus as their line can be brutal. On this visit, I got a vanilla late and my partner got a strawberry matcha. My coffee had a good quality espresso and the drink was nicely balanced, not overly sweet which I appreciate, and the vanilla tasted high quality. My partner's matcha was good and seems to have high quality matcha. Overall both drinks were solid, and worth a repeat visit. read more

Stopped by La La Land and overall had a great experience! We tried a few different drinks, starting with the matcha. We ordered it unsweetened, and while it wasn't bad at all, we definitely wished the matcha flavor came through a bit stronger. Still a solid option if you prefer something more mild. The seasonal S'mores Cloud Espresso Latte was the highlight. They were super generous with the cloud foam, and the drink had that perfect balance of being flavorful without being overly sweet. We also ordered the Cocoa Cuddles for the kid in our group. The flavor was really good, but it was surprisingly hot for a kids' drink. We came at what I thought was a busy time to only discover later on that there was a whole other level of busy this place could surprisingly get when it was raining on and off during our stay there. The cashier was really patient and nice with me as I asked questions about certain items before placing my order. I ended up getting a Strawberry Cloud Latte with Matcha and a Ham & Cheese Croissant that they heated up for me. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables inside. They did have outdoor seating too along the walls of the place, but seating was damp outside due to the rain. The latte was surprisingly delicious and I was such a fan of the strawberry cream that came with it on top. The croissant was delicious too and I loved how flaky it was and the crisp cheese topping on it. We both loved the merch they had for sale that included hats and mugs and the vibe was nice though it got pretty load with the amount of people waiting to purchase and pick up their orders as they sheltered from the weather outside.
