My wife and I have been hear multiple times but this is my first time reviewing La Latina. We absolutely LOVE this place. The empanadas and arepas are so delicious and authentic. My Go To everytime is the Asado Negro with Queso de Mano. Very savory and juicy. My wife loves the chicken Empanadas and always gets two. The sauce they give you on the side is really good. It's almost like a cilantro sauce. This time we came with some friends and they loved the food too. The staff are super friendly and the vibes are great. My wife really loves the aesthetic of the restaurant. Parking is a little tight behind the restaurant so be extra careful while maneuvering. read more

Im a huge arepa fan, and not being from Venezuela, I was recommended this place a long time ago by friends who know arepas first hand. I am hands down convinced this is THE best place for an arepa de asado negro with yellow cheese. I have had it many times and it never disappoints. Yes, there are no waiters, so you will have to pick up your food once it's ready (this requires that you get up and walk 10 steps to the counter) and then you have to throw your garbage away! it's disappointing to see people complaining about the 'service' when they food they serve us outstanding. La Latina comes in handy for late night hungries, especially after Lagniappe or other surrounding bars. After a looooong day of adventures and cocktails, I needed a bite to eat at 10 pm. When I told my guy we'd be passing a great Venezuelan arepa place on the way home, he said he'd let me show him. I've never let him down food-wise, so come on. He ordered an avocado, bacon, and cheese arepa, and I got my usual shredded chicken and cheese arepa. I usually take it with me and leave, but we sat sat down to eat. It's small and comfortable in here, decorated with bright florals. When our food came out I started eating because I was so hungry only to realize- I wasn't eating chicken. They'd given me the wrong arepa. I think it was shredded beef. Luckily, it was still good. His bacon was definitely on the dry and overly crispy side; it looked fake, like Beggin Strips (for dogs), but he still said that overall he enjoyed it. Being Venezuelan ourselves, the way these arepas are made took us back to when grandma made them at home! The chicken was pulled and seasoned well, but a little on the zesty side for me. It was quite juicy, however. The arepa itself was nice. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. This one is made with a sweet yellow corn arepa with savory cheese. I must say, this is what you wish you get when you buy one at the fair lol...it was very good, and huge. This is my first time coming here to La Latina and wow the arepa's were tasty! I came to have lunch and I had ordered the stuffed chicken arepa with cheese. I had added the green sauce to my arepa that they have available on the side of the counter top, which was super yummy! My friend had ordered the "Pabellon arepa" stuffed with beef, cheese, plantains, and black beans. She enjoyed it! The food prices were affordable and the arepas were very filling! A great little Venezuelan restaurant filled with delicious goodies! Came with a 3 coworkers for lunch and enjoyed every bite. The menu is expansive and you have a lot to choose from. They have small bites and platters. We decided to get one platter and a bunch of small bites to share. The cheese empanadas, cachapa and arepas are amazing!!! A great spot for a quick lunch. It's bit hidden as it's in the middle of a strip plaza. I've never really eaten a proper arepa, so this was pretty mind blowing for me. Inside is very cozy and the prices are reasonable. If you check in to yelp, you get 10% off. I came at 9pm and it was pretty much empty. For tourists, you can park on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. Just follow everybody else. Yes it's very bizarre especially if you come from the NYC haha. I tried the tres leches and found that to be overwhelmingly sweet. So you should probably skip that. read more

I had the shredded chicken with avocado, my father in law had the pork & cheese, & hubby had a pabellón that I brought home. Every arepa was amazing! None were short on any ingredients. Sometimes anything w avocado, the avo is barely their. But not here. They have a great big menu, catering to meat lovers & vegetarians alike. They have breakfast type arepas, as well as dessert types. They also make fresh juices and a great cafe con leche. Minus one star because we had to ask for their free dipping sauces, they weren't offered to us upon ordering. The green one is really good! It's a small place, but has plenty of seating. Starting with the great food, I came with friends but I personally got a Reina Pepiada Arepa, Tequeños (very very good), and La Pelua Arepa. Everything was delicious, also each food come with sauces that they make by themselves! The place is small and has these funky wallpapers everywhere. We ordered their fresh juices that were so yummy. I told them that serving a meal like that was disrespectful but the guy kept interrupting, extremely rude saying that "I'm no his mom to tell him that" (that's the most ridiculous answer someone can even give to a customer) he also said that food coming in those conditions is something normal that could happen to anyone, no apologies, nothing! The artwork on the walls is very interesting and a running shelf is interesting. The floor is poured concrete. The tables have plastic covering-- like the stuff my grandparents and parents ensconced their living room furniture in. The chairs are bit uncomfortable, perhaps they don't want diner to get too comfortable and become evening hanger-on? The music was loud and dominant, as compared to background. Since I did not have to talk with anyone, nor be heard, it was more annoying than a point of bristle. Lighting was fair. The food is rather affordable, but maybe that's Cuban food in general. There is seating for a about 20 people and I can see it getting busy. I ordered the La Latina, which was a medley of Gouda Cheese and Avocado; please the pulled chicken and some refried beans.
