Sazon is quite possibly my favorite Cuban restaurant in Miami Beach. Our concerige at the St. Regis recommended this spot to us for lunch. We came in on a Friday and it was pretty busy but no wait and we got seated right away. Although the restaurant is casual it is super cute. It is very spacious and has a beautiful bar. It is great for small or large groups. And even great to go by yourself or with children. Once seated we were greeted with their nice waitress who answered all our questions and gave great recommendations. I love that there was a wide variety on the menu for food and drinks. And they had lunch specials and weekly deals. We shared their strong cuban coffee since we knew it was super strong. It was so delicious and perfect sweetness. To start, we went with their beef potato balls, and recommended empanadas de ropa vieja. Each came with two. The beef potato balls were huge and came out with a red sauce. It was fried perfectly and had lots of flavor. The empanadas though were my favorite. The crispy outer empanadas were divine. The shredded beef inside was so flavorful and moist and went well with their yummy green sauce. We loved the sauce so much we asked for more with our meal. For lunch, I had the beef skewers. It came with a side which I got black beans and it also came with some yummy plantains. The two skewers were super filling, cooked just right, and juicy. The person I came with got their cubano sandwich, which I believe is a must if you want a sandwich. It was filled with goodness, large portion, and came with fried plantain chips. Yum! My husband is Cuban, so I have tried various Cuban establishments. Normally when you sample Cuban food in Miami beach it is not so authentic. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to say this is most definitely authentic and not geared for the holiday makers. The place was packed and rightly so. Most clients were non holiday makes, ie locals. The prices are also extremely fair and competitive for the location. For our last day in Miami, we decided to eat lunch at one of our favorites, Sazon. This was our first time to sit at their back patio, and I loved it!! It is casual, but pretty at the same time. A nice breeze blows that will keep you cook plus there are fans and AC. The atmosphere is great especially with the Cuban music playing. The service is always impeccable. They make sure your experience is a good one, and pay attention to every detail. The food is always incredible. My favorite dish is the Masa de Puerco which consists of fried pork chunks that are super soft served with sweet plaintains and moro which is dirty rice with black beans. Lovely dinner! There's a lot of Cuban places to choose from but this place is the best of every quality. Beautiful restaurant, great location, nice indoor and outdoor seating. Good prices and portions. Papa rellena was great. I liked the tomato tipping sauce it came with. Ceviche tasted great, but was a very small portion and I wish they cut up the fish into small, smaller bite-size pieces. Both of the main entrées came with two sides so we got morro(which was just a tad dry, but still great) and maduros(fantastic my doodles. They were cooked at the perfect time and they were really big.) I felt like the Churrasco needed a little more flavor, but I added sea salt to it, so it made it better. Good cook on the medium rare. Also it was enormous. The lechon was great. The onions were also beautifully cooked. There was a lovely acidicity to the Lechon. Flan was amazing as well! Perfect way to end the meal. Where do we even begin! This restaurant has felt like home to us and made our experience living in Miami worth while. Our favorite things are the lychee mojitos, the churrasco, the cod croquettas, and the tres leches. Everything on the menu is great, we've never had a bad meal here and the prices considering it's right on miami beach are beyond reasonable. No surprises, just the usual Cuban staples done competently. I had the lechon asado. It was clearly prepared ahead of time, but still good and flavorful. Not something I would go out of my way for, but a solid choice. The wine list was subpar, so I would skip that, but the cocktail menu was much better and the right call here. Inside, Sazon has a nice Cuban Miami vibe. Lively, comfortable, and what you expect from a place like this. My waitress was better than average. Friendly, attentive, and kept things moving at a good pace. The highlight of the meal was the tres leches cake. Easily the best one I have had in a while. This was a three and a half star experience based on the food alone, but between the fast service, an outstanding waitress, and an excellent dessert, I am rounding up to four stars. read more

Came here on accident because it was located right next to La Ventana and we thought it was the same place since the tables outside seemed to be located infront of both places. Before we even got seated, i was admiring the decor. Absolutely beautiful! The whole place was so mesmerizing, i loved it. We decided to sit outside by the large canvas and ordered the Bistec Empanizado and the Ropa Vieja with moro, mashed yuca, and white rice and beans. They were incredible to say the least. They were large portions, and tasted fresh. This was my first time having cuban food in a long long time and i forgot how good it was so thank you Sazon for reminding me. I tried ordering in very broken spanish but i tried. I also pointed at the things i wanted as i spoke to make sure not to give our server, Melina, a hard time lol. She was wonderful. I used to love this place, especially, the lunch special. I was recently disappointed when the cashier would not provide my full change when paying cash. Let me explain: The restaurant is under new ownership. I was told that if paying cash any change remaining under $0.50 the restaurant KEEPS. So you only get all your change if the difference is above $0.50. That's INSANE and literally robbery. And probably illegal? It's a small amount but it's the gesture. The portions are also smaller and the lunch menu items are limited. When ownership tries to increase profit by reducing benefits to customers I feel like it's the beginning of the end. I was seriously disappointed. These changes may add profits in the short term but it's an unfair and unethical business practice. The ropa vieja was tender and succulent. The vaca frita was garlicky perfection, the best I've ever had. The plantains, beans, and rice were perfectly cooked. The drinks were also superb. Atmosphere is up-market casual, and service was excellent. Jose Monroe was the angel of attentiveness, standing at the center of the restaurant and observing for any customer needs. This busy and bumping Cuban restaurant has a great location directly on collins. people were lined up to dine so Hubby and i asked to be seated at the bar no line no wait. it's a smaller bar so it only accommodates like five people and could be a little bit tight. the ambience is cute and quaint and could be a really great date spot. I we ordered a few appetizers and the pork was so juicy and tender. I am a yuca lover so of course i had to try and they were delicious. the sauce it came with was so good i could have put it on everything. my vaca Frita was amazing and so was my husband's. meal dish The only thing I would tell you is that it's two sides and some restaurants include black beans and rice as one side and you could get another so make sure you read the menu. Every single bite was packed with flavor, you can really taste the love and heritage in each dish.
