It's a little hidden but super close and not touristy at all because it's a family owned restaurant focused on quality. After eating pasta for 2 weeks I was excited to see salmon on the menu. The description on the menu was a little scary with so many different combinations in the sauce. It was a citrus salmon that was so yummy. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was pudding style. I love a cake style tiramisu but it was still good and a bit lighter which was nice too. Wow, what a wonderful find after a long day in Vatican City! Just a few short blocks and about 10 minutes once you exit Vatican City. Service is top notch and the food is excellent! Our order was simple. Just pizza, bread with oil and a meat and cheese platter. For drinks white light wine, spritz, Prosecco, and a fruity Prosecco. Kiddo loved the pizza. Simple with melty cheese and spicy pepperoni (??pepperoni- not pepperoni but something of the like, sorry). She said it was the best pizza she's ever had and she's had A LOT of pizza! The bread was fluffy on the inside with a crunchy exterior. The oil was simple Olivia oil but had the best "herby" aroma you could taste with each bite. Meat and cheese were delightful. There was a wonderful onion jam that came with it. I wanted to buy some but they didn't have any for sale....so so sad! For drinks, I definitely recommend the Prosecco. Either one. Both so deliciously dangerous. If we are ever back in this area, we will definitely come back to dine here. From the moment we walked in they made us feel like family. My sister and I visited here for dinner after a long day in the Vatican Museums. Every worker came up and introduced themselves at some point during our meal, and made sure the food was up to standard, and boy was it. Not only were their prices fair but their food was so delicious and the environment was amazing, creating the perfect dining experience. Everyone there was truly so happy how much we loved the food and all the guests were talking to one another like we were all at one big family dinner. My favorite part was when we got up to leave, the couple next to us stopped us to share their story of going there for over 25 years and it warmed their hearts to see us so relaxed and enjoy the food as much as they have for so long. This restaurant was recommended to us by the staff at our hotel. We were worried about going to tourist traps and wanted something authentic. This place did not disappoint! We ended up coming here twice! The first time we had the burrata, eggplant parm and the gnocchi. The gnocchi were amazing, the sauce was to die for. The second time we decided to just stick to pasta. I got the carbonara and mom got a pasta that was wrapped in eggplant in a tomato sauce. Cannot remember the name of it but it was delicious. The carbonara was exceptional as well. They also serve you warm bread with olive oil upon request. For dessert we got the tiramisu which was do die for. Lastly the service! This establishment had less than 10 tables I would say. It was very tight. The service was well appreciated and the menu had lots of different options. There were multiple entrees I was going back and forth with in deciding what to get. For appetizers we went with eggplant meatballs and the octopus salad. The eggplant meatballs were with smoked cheese. There were only 3 present with a limited amount of tomato sauce. I would have liked additional sauce as it went well with the fried meatballs. The filling was a little mushy, but had an appetizing taste. Regarding the octopus salad, it came with potatoes and olives. It was delicious. The octopus was cooked perfectly. The potatoes and olives went together nicely with the octopus. I ordered the stuffed chicken for my entrée. It was with asparagus, cheese, sweet corn, beer sauce, and purple potatoes. My only complaint about the dish was the size. The chicken piece was very small. The sweet corn and the beer sauce was the headline here. The sauce was one of the best I ever had. For dessert, I had their licorice tartufo. It just seemed to be a scoop of gelato. I never had a licorice ice cream/gelato before, but I enjoyed it. The licorice taste was not too overpowering. This was a very unique dish. *Tagliata di Manzo, Ananas, Radicchio e Scaglie di Mandoria al Sale Rosso delle Hawaii - Sliced beef, pineapple, radish, and almond flakes with red Hawaiian salt. Being the only restaurant that served fresh hot quality bread during our visit, we were extremely happy from the beginning of the meal to the end. Service was welcoming, greeting us warmly and showing us to a seat. I ordered a serving of spaghetti with garlic and hot peppers. When the dessert arrived, the presentation was extremely pleasing to the eye. It was like a mixture between a soufflé and a chocolate lava cake baked to perfection. The dark and rich flavour of the chocolate was complimented by the ganache surrounding it. One of the best desserts I've ever had. Overall, the meal here was extremely delicious.
