I love this menu. So many different choices than other restaurants. The food is always good and fresh, cooked to order.

Columbus, Georgia, we are sleeping on a goldmine. The Drinks: Let's talk about this margarita. My husband makes a margarita that I consider a literal superpower, and the owner here just made me one that I must admit is really good! The Food: The food is "f***ing delicious." There's no other way to put it. It's high-quality, it's fresh, and you can taste the difference immediately. Usually, you get the standard "restaurant" taste, but this feels like it was made with actual intent. The Service: Top-tier service. The staff is on it, the vibes are right, and the owner is hands-on making sure everything is perfect. The Verdict: In the words of my favorite food reviewer Keith Lee: I hive this place a 9 out of 10. I don't understand why there isn't a line around the block. If you want fresh, authentic, high-quality Mexican food and a margaritas! that will make you question everything you knew about tequila--get to Mi Mexico. Now.

I loved the fajitas, and the margaritas were delicious and generously sized. They could improve the décor a bit to make the space more inviting for people looking to celebrate special occasions, but overall, it's an excellent spot. Great service, amazing flavor, good portions, and fair prices -- all in one place!

The entrance to this unassuming spot feels almost deliberately off-putting at first--plain facade,…read morea sign directing you to a side door that leads straight through an attached market. It's a clever (or perhaps just pragmatic) setup; that market itself is a gem, stocked with an impressive array of authentic Spanish and Mexican goods. We'll definitely return for provisions alone. Inside the dining room, the space is spotless if somewhat dated--simple, no-frills decor that prioritizes function over flair. Our server was cheerful and energetic, a bright presence, though service proved inconsistent; she largely vanished after taking our order, leaving us to wait an inexplicable 30-plus minutes for food despite only two other tables occupied. When plates finally arrived, the portions were strikingly generous, almost comically so for the price point. We began with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa carried decent freshness and a mild kick, but it wanted for seasoning--more salt, a bolder hit of garlic and cumin would have elevated it from passable to memorable. No refills appeared, which felt stingy given the "free" promise. The horchata, however, shone: creamy, deeply flavored with cinnamon and vanilla notes, refreshingly cool and well-balanced--one of the better versions I've encountered recently. The carnitas dinner plate delivered on volume: a mountain of moist, crisped pork that had all the textural appeal one hopes for--tender interior, satisfying crunch on the edges--yet it arrived curiously underseasoned, lacking the salty, savory depth that should define the dish. Homemade refried beans were a highlight: smooth, flavorful, clearly made in-house with real care. The Mexican rice held good seasoning too, though it verged on dry. Steak fajitas followed the same pattern--giant heaps tender strips of beef and soft, well-cooked vegetables in generous heaps, but again, flavor felt muted, as if the seasoning hand had been unusually light. It's puzzling: everything executed competently, meats tender, produce fresh, yet the palate kept searching for that missing punch of spice, acid, or salt. No where else in COLGA gives this much steak, so very grateful. The shrimp cocktail appetizer (small portion) justified its price through quality ingredients--clean, plump shrimp in a classic tomato-based sauce--but it was straightforward, nothing transcendent. The queso fundido with chorizo fared far better: authentic, house-made chorizo with real spice and depth, melded into creamy, stretchy queso that felt genuinely homemade and deeply satisfying. Desserts redeemed much of the meal. The tres leches cake was textbook--moist without being soggy, richly soaked in the three milks, properly sweet and authentic in texture. The chocoflan, though, was the standout: flawless layering, silky flan with just the right caramel note, dense chocolate cake beneath, executed with evident skill and genuine flavor. In the end, this place offers undeniable value through abundance and some authentic touches (those beans, the queso, the desserts), alongside a market worth the trip alone. But the persistent lack of seasoning across the savory dishes left the experience feeling curiously flat. It's hard to muster enthusiasm for a return meal when so much potential goes unseasoned. Still, another visit to explore different menu items isn't out of the question--perhaps the kitchen's bolder preparations will hit the mark. For now, it's a solid neighborhood option for quantity and certain homemade elements, but one that needs more confidence behind the seasoning to truly impress.

It…read morewas balanced enough, but ultimately forgettable--pleasant, yet lacking anything distinctive or memorable. The combo appetizer was largely disappointing and difficult to justify for the price. The chicken quesadilla was bland and desperately needed seasoning. The fritters were even more underwhelming, tasting primarily of fryer oil with no texture, depth, or discernible flavor. The lone bright spot was the chorizo-stuffed jalapeños, which were flavorful, well-prepared, and easily the best item on the appetizer platter. The accompanying chipotle ranch was also excellent and complemented them nicely. The salsa, however, completely stole the show. It's still my favorite salsa anywhere in the Columbus area by a wide margin. The complimentary chips arrived warm and fresh, an often-overlooked detail that made an immediate positive impression. The guacamole had a smooth, fresh texture but was noticeably under-seasoned and needed more salt. The portion size was also disappointingly small considering the price. The combination plate featuring the chile poblano and steak chimichanga was the evening's biggest letdown. The refried beans tasted as though they had been scooped straight from a can, while the rice was one of the few successes of the meal--well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, and fluffy. The chile poblano was shockingly small, easily the smallest I've ever been served, and lacked any real character. The ground beef filling was bland, resulting in little more than a soft, flavorless mound. The steak chimichanga was equally disappointing in both size and execution. It was so small it looked more appropriate for a children's menu. While the steak itself was tender, it lacked seasoning and was excessively greasy. I found myself repeatedly pouring salsa over nearly every bite just to introduce some flavor to the plate. The Plato Loco continued the trend of undersized portions. Once again, the rice was cooked beautifully, and the meat itself was tender, but the overall dish was remarkably bland. Nearly all of the flavor came from the cheese sauce rather than the ingredients themselves. On a positive note, the extra tortillas arrived piping hot, fresh, and delicious. Unfortunately, the service mirrored the kitchen's inconsistency. Our server was largely absent throughout the meal. Drinks sat empty multiple times, our basket of chips often remained without salsa, and we repeatedly had to flag him down for refills and basic table service. This restaurant was once my favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus, which makes this visit especially disappointing. Whether the focus has shifted to the newer Phoenix City location or something else has changed behind the scenes, the difference is impossible to ignore. The generous portions that once set this restaurant apart have shrunk dramatically, and the bold flavors that kept us coming back have largely disappeared. Aside from the outstanding salsa and a few isolated highlights, this meal felt uninspired and poorly executed. It was a disappointing experience that leaves me questioning whether I'll be returning anytime soon.

The host who sat us was friendly enough. The restaurant is spacious with the expected Mexican decorations. Our table was not clean, and the host didn't notice. I asked the next person who came by to clean it, and she was happy to do it. It gave me hope that this was a minor issue, and we'd enjoy the rest. Unfortunately, it was the least of the issues. The server kept forgetting things we asked for and disappeared. We never got a refill on anything. He came back and apologized, but it seemed disingenuous. We were happy to leave, and unfortunately, we might not return - at least until we forget about this experience. Like: Quesadilla (flavorful steak, but one side did not have any on it); cheese dip (didn't get a refill on chips) Dislike: Hawaiian fajitas (great flavor; steak was tough with gristles); service (kept forgetting things, didn't refill anything, disappeared)

The menu was disappointing kind of big but it was a more Americanized version of Mexican food and I was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for dinner. The photos of the food are of more authentic dishes, but when you come in, read the descriptions on the items you realize that the owners have pretty much designed or reimagined all the dishes but for an more American target audience - not a bad thing for them but not the experience I wanted. I order the flautas (rolled tacos) 4 came with the order, guac & sour cream plus lettuce and tomato (I asked for them to leave that off I wasn't going to eat it anyway) no rice or beans I had to order that extra (‍) My son ordered a French fry appetizer My mom a chicken & steak plate. The chips & salsa were ok. Salsa lacked any real spice or flavor it tasted like tomato and oregano. I didn't have any. I ordered an horchata & it was fresh & delicious & the mug it came in was also pretty cool looking. My son really enjoyed his fried zero complaints there they had queso, chorizo & pico on them. My mom enjoyed her plate as well. My food was "ok" the meat in my flautas lacked seasoning & they were extremely greasy. The guacamole was tasteless & looked very unappealing so I didn't eat that, the rice & beans were very good delicious actually, the rice was probably my favorite part of my meal. Overall good definitely not terrible just not terribly authentic maybe somewhere in the middle.
