Papas Dorados (French fries) with queso chorizo & pico
Judy E.

Arrived and were seated immediately. The booth was very cramped ... but we made it work. The restaurant was decorated in a typical Mexican restaurant way with bold colors and items from Mexican places around strategically. The menu was disappointing kind of big but it was a more Americanized version of Mexican food and I was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for dinner. The photos of the food are of more authentic dishes, but when you come in, read the descriptions on the items you realize that the owners have pretty much designed or reimagined all the dishes but for an more American target audience - not a bad thing for them but not the experience I wanted. I order the flautas (rolled tacos) 4 came with the order, guac & sour cream plus lettuce and tomato (I asked for them to leave that off I wasn't going to eat it anyway) no rice or beans I had to order that extra (‍) My son ordered a French fry appetizer My mom a chicken & steak plate. The chips & salsa were ok. Salsa lacked any real spice or flavor it tasted like tomato and oregano. I didn't have any. I ordered an horchata & it was fresh & delicious & the mug it came in was also pretty cool looking. My son really enjoyed his fried zero complaints there they had queso, chorizo & pico on them. My mom enjoyed her plate as well. My food was "ok" the meat in my flautas lacked seasoning & they were extremely greasy. The guacamole was tasteless & looked very unappealing so I didn't eat that, the rice & beans were very good delicious actually, the rice was probably my favorite part of my meal. Overall good definitely not terrible just not terribly authentic maybe somewhere in the middle.

Customer service was amazing per usual. For the past 6 months I've come here a couple of times and the food has never disappointed. Everything is always cooked fresh to perfection and the margaritas are delicious. I've never had to wait no more than 15 minutes for food. Overall the prices are reasonable and the food comes in large quantities. I definitely recommend this location!!

The service was amazing and the food came out so fast! It was very flavorful and the homemade tortillas made a huge difference. Great Mexican restaurant highly recommend

Classic Mexican restaurant on the inside. Server Omar was really friendly and helpful. Asked for a box for my chips and salsa at the end of the meal and he gave me a new bag of both! Taco plate was a good classic take. Got two pastor, one steak and one birria. Actually ended up liking the steak the best. Served as they should be with cilantro and onion. Needed a side of lime. Also the corn tortillas were a bit flimsy and one fell apart. Otherwise a great meal. Would definitely return!

El Mariachi

Fine Mexican food and friendly service. Nice environment inside and plenty of room. One of my favorite restaurants. Convenient location with easy access in and out

This was our first time trying this location and it was definitely a lot better than I expected. We have tried multiple Mexican restaurants and I think my husband and I both agree that we enjoyed this one the most out of the ones in the area. We ordered several different dishes. We ordered the Molcajete combo which was nice and tender but was missing the sizzling bowl where the cheese would melt. However, it was still good. The birria tacos were flavorful, beef was tender, and overall tasted great My husband ordered the Al pastor burrito which was on the smaller side and the pork lacked flavor like it was almost bland. And we ordered our 2 year old chicken, cheese, and rice. The service was pretty good, the bathrooms were clean, and overall the restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing! It didn't feel super tight or dark. I also saw they had fresh homemade desserts like cakes which I'd love to try next time we try more things on the menu!

Birra tacos

Delicious!!!! Excellent food, friendly and fast service, clean environment. Highly recommend the Birria tacos.

Trying to be patient. Lol

The quesabirria taco seemed more like a hard shell taco, was disappointed, I wouldn't get them again from this place.

Hensley our bartender was phenomenal and great service! It's great when I travel around and nice people are part of your day! The bar is beau tile and the cattle skulls made in Bali! The food was delish. I got the Cuban Fried Porkchop hoagie!! I loved the local recipes and very crisp. Fries OMG the flavor! If you ever come through Auburn this is a stop!! Salute!!

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

Botanic is not a place. It is an experience! Hands down one of the most breathtaking, spacious,…read morecarefully curated places I've been all year. It is definitely on my Alabama "must-visit" list. I am from out of town, but I came looking for a workspace and wanted to grab lunch while I was there. I came around 1 PM and there was a 30 minute wait for 2 for lunch, but have no fear. We just went upstairs to the martini bar and were able to wait and work. We were seated in the garden for lunch, which are mostly cute high tops. Before we even began our meal, a fat adorable white rabbit crossed our path. Then an equally beautiful black rabbit crossed our path. I had no idea there was wildlife just prancing around and I was giddier than a little kid. (There are also ducks and geese who run around!). Now to the food: Had to get the smash burger because it was award winning and boy it did not disappoint! The depth of flavor and the juiciness of the patties were impeccable. I opted for guda cheese instead of cheddar, and I added grilled onions, and this was an excellent choice. The fries are super crispy and the comeback sauce is perfect for dipping . Don't judge us, but we also shared some desserts. The standout was the white chocolate cheesecake, which was sweet but not super indulgent. I would definitely skip the crepe next time. The description made it sound delicious. But overall, it was lacking in a flavor. It was by far the most disappointing dish of the day. Even though it takes a while for food to come out service is impeccable, and the servers are just so lovely, so be patient. I will definitely make the Botanic my go-to establishment when I'm in town!

We were visiting friends in Seale Alabama from Jacksonville Florida and they know I am very…read moreparticular about restaurants and have a very limited diet. Dining is an experience and my hobby my husband says. We indulge most nights in many great restaurants all around us or when we frequently travel. I want to start by saying my friend chose this space well! Though it was about a 40 minute drive from their house it was worth it. The venue, grounds, market, dining areas, etc. are all truly a delight. I cannot believe a place like this exists in this area. We started with adult beverages and the amazing complimentary bread with an assortment of butter options. For appetizers, we ordered the pimento cheese and corn ribs (forgot to photograph). Both were delicious! For entrees, the ladies had the pasta dish with my friend adding the shrimp. I am a vegetarian so I did it without any protein. It was very good. The men had the filets with the sides and found them to be cooked properly. The pros were as follows: Beautiful venue/spaces Delicious food The market had some nice shopping gifts to pick up for souvenirs and pastries for breakfast the next morning The cons: We were supposed to be at an inside table and they said that was not the case once we arrived and it was way too hot outside and the flies were terrible. I felt as if they should have accommodated us as we still waited 30 minutes to be seated despite her making reservations weeks ago. That really put a damper on the experience. Their corkage fee to bring your own wine is $40 per bottle. I take my own wine to every restaurant I go to and have never paid $40 even at much higher end places. The waitress was nice but loud and forgetful. We asked for things multiple times and never did get some of the requested things. They do offer lunch and dinner and the menus are a bit different. They focus on fresh produce from local farmers and some they grow there. If you are within a 30 minute drive, I would suggest going as there is not much in that area that compares according to our friends. There are multiple dining spaces so make sure you choose where you want to dine and confirm that. There are multiple bar options as well.
