We have enjoyed coming here since the day they opened! The food is great, their aguas frescas are always refreshing. You don't really get to interact with staff because they are always and I mean always busy! I have been here several times and at any hour they have a wait time. This is a local snack shop that offers a variety of things like nachos, tacos, ice cream, mangonadas, elotes and so much more. So it gets busy especially with such a large menu and different combinations. There is always music playing here and lots of families enjoying their treats! They have a few tables inside as well as some outside. The parking can be very hectic but sometimes you get lucky! You can preorder food online, call it in or get it door dashed too! We dined in and some loaded hot Cheetos, a mangonada, nachos and some bubble gum ice cream as well as a champurrado. I was sticker shocked with the champurrado! A small is $6. La Lotería has become a staple for me. There are so many wonderful things that I could say about this business. The place itself is extremely clean and is very beautifully decorated. Every time I come in I feel relaxed and welcomed. The staff are very nice and are always helpful. The food here is very, very good. They have many different things to choose from, whether it's desserts or lunches. They also offer fresh aguas frescas that are homemade and extremely tasty. The first two times I went in I enjoyed the drinks we got, the third time, not so much. We decided to just go in and get two la fresa michoacanas and on the way home, I was fishing out strawberry pieces because I wanted to eat a few first, only to discover that the strawberries were very brown. Such a unique experience! We came in late Sunday night around 9:30pm and ordered the Las enchiladas. The process was a bit confusing for us because we don't read/speak Spanish and there was very little English on the menu. It made it a bit difficult to order! We wanted to try some ice cream and saw lots of people with it and it looked amazing...but just was challenging to figure out what to order so we passed on it. The wait was longer than we had expected to get our food, and seemed like it took them awhile on others ice cream orders as well -- but they looked delicious once they came out! When you arrive, take a number and that is how they call you up to place your order! The enchiladas were really good and for such a reasonable price! I love this place! Everytime I am craving Mexican this is my go to. My order has always been the same and it's always tastes great! I have ordered same order over 10 times by now and its always consistent. My order usually consists of elote either in cup or cob both super good! You have the option to make it spicy or mild. Spicy isn't too much more spicy than mild. Both are super good. And I order al pastor tacos with their sauce. The meat is so perfectly seasoned and not too fatty. I had to get the elotes of course, that's why I went there to begin with. I decided to get it in a cup since it's easier to eat and it doesn't get stuck in between your teeth. I saw that they had fresh orange juice and I'm a sucker for fresh OJ so I had to get me some! Okay I'm seated and reaaady to eatt!! The tacos were reaaallly good! This is the spot to get your Mexican snacks fix! One thing they have in abundance that I couldn't even find in Arizona is avocado paletas. I know sounds like it should be basic but trust me it's actually kind of hard to find. They have all the tropical fruits you can want and the mangonadas are perfect. Their ice cream is so smooth. Looking for the best Mangonada and elote in a cup? Look no further! The mangonada was blended thick, which I love and had the perfect amount of chamoy to make it tart, sweet, and delicious! The elote was delicious, but I didn't realize how big the cup was! We def had plenty to share and even to take home. We ordered the chicken enchiladas which was placed over a sauce and came topped with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, avocados. They were delicious and had great flavor. We ordered two tacos- carne asada and pastor and they were fresh and packed with so much flavor. BEFORE YOU GO: Note that you must take a number when you get there, and they'll call you to the side of the counter when they're ready to take your order. If you just stand around, no one will say anything to you, and you'll stand there forever wondering why no one is taking your order. Based off a single trip and a single item: Serving sizes and prices seem good. Place looked very clean, including the prep area, and workers wore gloves. Service was quite slow. Lots of people waiting around for their food, lots of time between numbers being called just to take orders. On the other hand, workers were moving quickly, so I really have no idea why it was all taking so long. We stood at the counter for some time before another patron informed us we needed to take a number. It's very unclear. It's also unclear whether you are supposed to put the numbers back (as the number box indicates), and the woman at the register was confused about what was going on with the numbers. The discussion was in very fast-spoken Spanish, so I didn't understand it. The point of all this is, the service part of the experience could use some work. At some point, some other customers arrived *also* waiting around for service, not realizing they had to take a number. Clearly, this is an ongoing issue they need to address. It was busy when we were there late on a Saturday night, and every other person in the room was Mexican besides us. The sign of a good place. We ordered carne asade fries. They're much more basic than any other carne asada/loaded fries I've had from this sort of place, but they were good, and at only 6.29, a bit more affordable than other places. We'll be back at some point to try the other items, and also when we don't want to make the drive into Grand Rapids to get loaded fries from...I think Tacos El Cunado is the other place that has them. It's fine. Based on our one, very limited experience, four stars is a fitting rating. read more

Both were great, but I prefer the La Fresada more because it's complex and has a variety of flavors; sweet, little bit of spice, and tart. I really enjoyed the tamarind candy! (if you read the reviews in reverse chronological order), he is either a blantant liar or just needs a new prescription for his poor eyesight. Ok so this place was a little messy on Sunday night at 9:30PM when we stopped in for some treats, but other than that it was great! I am not a fluent Spanish speaker so I may struggle a bit with the names of things in this review- that being said, although the operation was using Spanish as the primary language, all of the employees did speak English. I had the la fresa michoacana- it was packed with fresh strawberries and delicious strawberry ice cream. This treat was very sweet, so the 16 oz size was a bit much for me, but it was awesome. We also tried the banana split, which was decent but nothing out of the ordinary- 3 big scoops of ice cream (we chose strawberry, chocolate and pecan. All were home made and tasty). My wife had the mangonada - this was by far the most interesting treat. It's contains mango sorbet that is salty, along with fresh mango, chamoy, a spicy sauce and chili and lime. So excited to try this place out as I love fruit with tajin, chamoy, chili powders, etc. If it's fruity and spicy, I'm there! I got a large (huge) la mangollada...which is spicy mango sorbet (you can substitute regular mango sorbet) with chamoy sauce, mango pieces, chili powder, and a tamarind candy straw. It was exactly what I wanted!!! If spicy fruit isn't your thing and you prefer sweets, they have you covered too. My husband got a sugar cone with vanilla and coffee ice cream which he said was very creamy. The only thing he didn't like was the server touching the cone with her ungloved hand first. The asada in the tacos and carne asada fries is well seasoned and sooo delicious. All of the paletas are creamy and flavorful, the yogurt based drinks are addictive. I saw a photo of La Loteria's case full of paletas (something like 30 varieties) and knew I had to check it out. Paletas are frozen popsicle-like treats that come in all kinds of flavors - some made with cream, some made with just fruit. La Loteria has lots of other options besides paletas, though - they have huge sundaes, delicious looking frozen sweet treats (one with strawberry that looked amazing), tacos, tortas, fries, pretty much all my favorite foods. The menu is large and kind of overwhelming if you don't read Spanish very well. The descriptions of items are in English but the names are in Spanish. I asked if there was a listing of the paletas flavors but was told no - so I had to point to a couple and ask what they were. I didn't want to keep doing that 30 more times, so I chose the first one I saw that looked good. It ended up being strawberries and cream, and it was delicious! My boyfriend got a choco banana which is just a chocolate covered banana. He said it was really good! I was really hoping he'd order the churro sundae, so we are definitely going back to get that.
