Vacationing in Paris and had to stop by this legendary place for some croissant ! We arrived early morning with a line but not too long but after tasting everything it's worth the wait! We got their plain crossiant and pain au chocolate which was buttery, flaky and so affordable compared to US The baguette sandwich which was crisp not too hard with a great chew just simply bread-licious ! A must visit in Paris !
Paris has an amazing number of bakeries and patisseries. The butter makes the croissant smell wonderful, and it is so flaky you have crumbs at every bite. The best way to enjoy is to eat right away when you buys them. Sadly I made the mistake of buying too much, and hotels room does not offer toaster oven. There is always a line in front of well known bakeries, but they move fast.
The smell of butter from this small shop in Paris, France fills the air, enticing you with the smell and sights of an array of beautiful breads, pastries, luxurious desserts, sandwiches made on crunchy and chewy baguettes, and of course croissants! These buttery and flaky croissants were our favorite of all we tried throughout Paris during our recent stay and we came several times. There are so many things to choose from! There is is usually a line, but it is fast moving and the staff is most friendly and accommodating. It's next to a great cheese shop, a meat shop, and a wonderful outdoor market selling fruits, veggies, honey, mustatds, flowers, foods and clothes. Worth a stop if in the Lain Quartier.
This is the best and most popular bakery in the Latin Quarter/Saint Germain area. Arrive early and pick up their award winning baguette and buttery croissants that are fresh out of the oven. The croissants are well laminated and butter-rich - it will make you cry! For only 1.40 Euros for a croisant you have to ask yourself: how many times can I stop by for pastry? Everyday? Yessiree! The best part of my day is picking up my Maison D'Isabelle baked goodies and going to the nearby Luxembourg Gardens. What a treat. Ahhh, Paris!
Winning the title of "Best Butter Croissant in Paris" is no small feat, so, naturally, I had to try Maison d'Isabelle's croissant for myself. With the first prize displayed proudly out front, there was, unsurprisingly, a line of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on a fresh croissant. We joined the line, which fortunately moved quickly. Even mid-afternoon, the pastry case was still being stocked with fresh pastries, so there was plenty of selection and turnover. When it was our turn to order, we kept it simple with a butter croissant and a ham and cheese on a baguette. Some of the pastries in the display case appeared slightly over-baked, but we were handed two fresh, perfectly golden pastries when we placed our order. As soon as we secured our goods, we stepped out of the bakery and eagerly indulged in our pastries. The verdict: Maison d'Isabelle is one of the best butter croissants I have ever tasted. There were plenty of warm, buttery layers, and the outside had a subtle crispness. The ham and cheese baguette was ok - I prefer jambon et beurre sandwiches without the lettuce and cheese, but I didn't see any in the pastry case. If you're in the area, I highly recommend treating yourself to one of the best butter croissants!
Maison d'Isabelle was absolutely worth the hype and the wait. The croissants were so good that I went back every day during my 3-day stay in Paris. Everything else looked delicious too, and do not be scared by the line, it moves pretty fast. The croissants alone were enough to keep me coming back.
If the wafting smell of buttery croissants and the huge sign above the store showing the 2018 first place croissant prize doesn't draw you in to La Maison d'Isabelle, what will? I came on a Monday around 11:30am. There were around 5 parties in front of me, but the line moves extremely fast since I was getting to go. The lady who was taking our orders speaks English and is such a sweetheart - she was greeting everyone with a smile and helping with selections! We went with the classic croissant. And let me just say - WORTH THE HYPE!! The pastry chefs here have somehow found the perfect balance of crunch and fluff. Truly so impressed with the crunchy and flaky outside leading to a soft and layered inside. The other croissants I've had in Paris were delicious but have not had the level of crunch to their exteriors. Stop by if you're in the area! Don't be deterred by the long line as it moves very fast and the staff is kind :-)

If you want delicious French bakery then you need to come here to this shop. This is in Saint Germain neighborhood. I can smell their buttery baked goodness from a block away. They only have takeout so service was fast. I love their Pain Aux Raisins and Croissants. They are golden brown and flaky on the outside as well as soft and buttery with delicate layers inside. Tasted slightly salty with sweetness. I loved the buttery smell that came with all their bakery items. Highly recommend this bakery in Paris.
Service 4/5 Depending how busy it is when you are there, the workers may tend to appear to be a little rude as you decide on what you want (happens 1 out of 3 times we went) Croissants are very good. I also had their kouign amann and loved it. We enjoyed their baguette sandwiches. My wife had their tuna because she's a pescatarian. I tried their prosciutto/sun-dried tomatoes, ham sandwich & chicken/egg baguette sandwiches. My favorite is the chicken/egg. We had come here 3 times during our trip.
The place was packed, but the line moved quickly and honestly, it's totally worth the wait. The croissant here might be the best I've ever had. Super flakey and crunchy on the outside, but soft and buttery inside, like a warm pillow that melts in your mouth. The baguette with salami and pickles was simple but perfect... super crunchy crust, soft center, and that deep, toasty flavor you only get from real French bread. I kinda didn't expect something that plain to taste that good. The staff were nice, patient, and even switched to English without me asking, which helped a lot. The place was lively and the line was fun and kind of chaotic in the best way.
We went on a bit of a croissant food crawl and no better way to start than here, this boulangerie won an award for best Paris croissant in 2018. There was a short queue, but it moved quickly, it was around 10 mins in and out. There isn't any seating available so it's a grab and go kind of spot, we ate the croissant beside the shop. The croissant was top quality. It was flakey and crispy on the outside, while also being fluffy and soft inside. You can taste the buttery flavor throughout the croissant, the consistency was perfect. You could also tell it was freshly toasted by how hot it was in the palm of my hands. If you love croissants, definitely check them out. They're located in quite the touristy neighborhood, so you're bound to be in the area. The croissant was also very inexpensive and makes for a filling snack (hello carbs!) that will keep you going throughout the day.

I've never had more than 1 croissant in my life, but then i had at least 6 over the course of 2 days. I don't think there's any seating, so it's a good place to stop by for a snack before you walk the city. I wish I could share how amazing the place smells through a review- like HEAVEN! Looks like there's a little market that surrounds it on the weekends too with cheese and meats too! The croissant was flakey and delicious- the baguette was also good. GO!! You'll love it!! read more
when in paris, you have to get a croissant, and La Maison d'Isabelle does not disappoint. it's right near a metro stop which is convenient for grab and go. during my one-week trip i went 3 times - that's how good it is!! every time I've gone, there has been a line, but it moves really fast. they were voted best butter croissant in 2018, and i can say it lives up to the hype. their croissants are crunchy, soft, buttery, and so so many layers! and for only one euro it's really hard to beat. i also tried a couple of other pastries like the Kouign-Amann and chocolate pave. the Kouign-Amann, again, is so crispy with tons of layers and sweetness. the chocolate pave was one of my favorites, too - the high quality chocolate with buttery layers is an unmatched combo. the croissants are to die for and i haven't found any others that top it. if you have any recommendations, let me know, but La Maison d'Isabelle has my heart! read more

So amazing. I came 5 days straight and would plan another tip to Paris just to get another baguette. I during get a picture of the eclair but I tried both flavors (chocolate and cafe, aka espresso) and they were so amazing. There sandwiches are on another level, and the bread just makes it that much better. I recommend getting here earlier rather than later because there will be more of a variety. I noticed the selection would also change day to day so maybe plan on coming a few times if you like it. Anyways I really recommend La Madison d'Isabelle for anyone who loves good food, especially bread, and croissants. read more

As the sign says, this place has the best croissant in all of Paris! Light, crisp, full of buttery layers of heavenly goodness, the croissants will leave a lasting memory of how a croissant should be experienced! They also sell other lovely pastries, sandwiches, quiches which are all made on site fresh daily. The area is also lovely with numerous places to sit back, relax, and enjoy the Parisian lifestyle. read more

Absolutely amazing. So glad we went to the effort of seeking it out. We got the raspberry and blueberry tartlettes (both the best I've ever had by a wide margin), chocolate eclair (it had chocolate filling), and one of their award-winning croissants (in a league of its own). I spent two weeks in France, trying a different bakery every single day for breakfast. La Maison d'Isabelle blows all of them out of the water by a mile. I was a little skeptical about the "Best Croissant in Paris" award, but this place was so good that we got it three days in a row. They are the most beautiful, buttery, and flaky croissants I have ever had in my life. Unlike most other bakeries, they seem to continuously make them fresh, so if you get lucky, you'll get a piping hot one! The texture is crispy/flaky on the inside and heavenly soft on the inside. La Maison d'Isabelle winner of Best Croissant in Paris 2018 using handmade methods, organic flour & butter) Only croissants produced using artisanal, hand-made techniques which narrows the competitors since 80% of croissants in France are made using industrial methods and ingredients. Bakers must use a specific, high-quality butter bearing the Charentes-Poitou AOC label it turns out that a full 60% of the scoring system for the annual butter croissant competition relates to looks: "cuisson" (bake- 20%), "brillance" (sheen-20%) and "forme" (regular, even shape- another 20%) A perfect croissant should be the right balance of distinct thin flaky layers and a melt-in-your-mouth buttery, a hint of sweet, and slightly chewy. We were looking for a best croissant in Paris and this bakery was in the top of the list. When we came, many people were staying in the lane. The guy at the register said something to other employee in French and took the customer behind us. We bought two plain croissants and two almond croissant. We couldn't wait to enjoy them! However, both almond croissants were completely burnt and dry. What a shame! They should put up the sign that they are serving locals only and the people who don't speak French, will get a trash read more

What's to be said about one of the best croissants to be eaten? It costs 1 euro. Delicious buttery airy pockets of dough with perfect chew and crisp flakes. They bake these frequently in a day and we were happy to have nailed them hot out of the oven. Besides winning the first prize in 2018 for their butter croissant all their other sweet pastries looked fantastic. We found the chocolate cream filled pate choux to be lavish and worthy of many more eats than we had time for. Twice I savored the lemon tart which had a zesty freshness of lemon mingled with a gooey cream on a thin pie crust. The chocolate eclair was delicious too. Oh my goodness! Croissants is worth the choice to give the calories for the day to! Pig enough of me I had two! Lightly caramel crisp on the outside and perfectly flakey and fluffy on the inside. La Maison d' Isabelle won the 2018 award for the croissant au beurre, all-butter croissant. It is truly extraordinary with the perfect balance of flakiness, chewiness, and melt-in-your mouth softness. Only bakers who use hand-made techniques can enter the contest and must use the highest-quality butter bearing the Charentes-Poitou AOC Label. (Eighty percent of croissants made in France are made using industrial methods and ingredients.) The croissants are made with organic butter from Pamplie creamery and Gruau flour and they are amazing! AND they only sell for €1!!! It is no wonder they earned the right to be the meilleur ouvrier (best artisan.) This bakery also won 1st place for best tarte aux pomme (they must have been sold out) and second prize for éclair au chocolate which was good. If you are in the Latin Quarter join the line outside, it is worth the wait!! read more

They did not give this place best croissant award for nothing. Best croissant ever of my life. I had it in my first day in Paris and I plan on visiting everyday for the rest of my trip and may be even bring some home. They are heavenly! Everything else there looked amazing too. How did we not know about this place? We happened to walk by and saw the sign for being voted as having the best croissant. Boy are the right! The croissant is perfect...flaky, airy, not overly buttery. The Almond Croissant is superb. The chocolate bread is filling and held us over until dinner. read more
