Vacationing in Paris and had to stop by this legendary place for some croissant ! We arrived early morning with a line but not too long but after tasting everything it's worth the wait! We got their plain crossiant and pain au chocolate which was buttery, flaky and so affordable compared to US The baguette sandwich which was crisp not too hard with a great chew just simply bread-licious ! A must visit in Paris !
Paris has an amazing number of bakeries and patisseries. The butter makes the croissant smell wonderful, and it is so flaky you have crumbs at every bite. The best way to enjoy is to eat right away when you buys them. Sadly I made the mistake of buying too much, and hotels room does not offer toaster oven. There is always a line in front of well known bakeries, but they move fast.
The smell of butter from this small shop in Paris, France fills the air, enticing you with the smell and sights of an array of beautiful breads, pastries, luxurious desserts, sandwiches made on crunchy and chewy baguettes, and of course croissants! These buttery and flaky croissants were our favorite of all we tried throughout Paris during our recent stay and we came several times. There are so many things to choose from! There is is usually a line, but it is fast moving and the staff is most friendly and accommodating. It's next to a great cheese shop, a meat shop, and a wonderful outdoor market selling fruits, veggies, honey, mustatds, flowers, foods and clothes. Worth a stop if in the Lain Quartier.
This is the best and most popular bakery in the Latin Quarter/Saint Germain area. Arrive early and pick up their award winning baguette and buttery croissants that are fresh out of the oven. The croissants are well laminated and butter-rich - it will make you cry! For only 1.40 Euros for a croisant you have to ask yourself: how many times can I stop by for pastry? Everyday? Yessiree! The best part of my day is picking up my Maison D'Isabelle baked goodies and going to the nearby Luxembourg Gardens. What a treat. Ahhh, Paris!
Winning the title of "Best Butter Croissant in Paris" is no small feat, so, naturally, I had to try Maison d'Isabelle's croissant for myself. With the first prize displayed proudly out front, there was, unsurprisingly, a line of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on a fresh croissant. We joined the line, which fortunately moved quickly. Even mid-afternoon, the pastry case was still being stocked with fresh pastries, so there was plenty of selection and turnover. When it was our turn to order, we kept it simple with a butter croissant and a ham and cheese on a baguette. Some of the pastries in the display case appeared slightly over-baked, but we were handed two fresh, perfectly golden pastries when we placed our order. As soon as we secured our goods, we stepped out of the bakery and eagerly indulged in our pastries. The verdict: Maison d'Isabelle is one of the best butter croissants I have ever tasted. There were plenty of warm, buttery layers, and the outside had a subtle crispness. The ham and cheese baguette was ok - I prefer jambon et beurre sandwiches without the lettuce and cheese, but I didn't see any in the pastry case. If you're in the area, I highly recommend treating yourself to one of the best butter croissants!
Maison d'Isabelle was absolutely worth the hype and the wait. The croissants were so good that I went back every day during my 3-day stay in Paris. Everything else looked delicious too, and do not be scared by the line, it moves pretty fast. The croissants alone were enough to keep me coming back.
If the wafting smell of buttery croissants and the huge sign above the store showing the 2018 first place croissant prize doesn't draw you in to La Maison d'Isabelle, what will? I came on a Monday around 11:30am. There were around 5 parties in front of me, but the line moves extremely fast since I was getting to go. The lady who was taking our orders speaks English and is such a sweetheart - she was greeting everyone with a smile and helping with selections! We went with the classic croissant. And let me just say - WORTH THE HYPE!! The pastry chefs here have somehow found the perfect balance of crunch and fluff. Truly so impressed with the crunchy and flaky outside leading to a soft and layered inside. The other croissants I've had in Paris were delicious but have not had the level of crunch to their exteriors. Stop by if you're in the area! Don't be deterred by the long line as it moves very fast and the staff is kind :-)

If you want delicious French bakery then you need to come here to this shop. This is in Saint Germain neighborhood. I can smell their buttery baked goodness from a block away. They only have takeout so service was fast. I love their Pain Aux Raisins and Croissants. They are golden brown and flaky on the outside as well as soft and buttery with delicate layers inside. Tasted slightly salty with sweetness. I loved the buttery smell that came with all their bakery items. Highly recommend this bakery in Paris.
Service 4/5 Depending how busy it is when you are there, the workers may tend to appear to be a little rude as you decide on what you want (happens 1 out of 3 times we went) Croissants are very good. I also had their kouign amann and loved it. We enjoyed their baguette sandwiches. My wife had their tuna because she's a pescatarian. I tried their prosciutto/sun-dried tomatoes, ham sandwich & chicken/egg baguette sandwiches. My favorite is the chicken/egg. We had come here 3 times during our trip.
The place was packed, but the line moved quickly and honestly, it's totally worth the wait. The croissant here might be the best I've ever had. Super flakey and crunchy on the outside, but soft and buttery inside, like a warm pillow that melts in your mouth. The baguette with salami and pickles was simple but perfect... super crunchy crust, soft center, and that deep, toasty flavor you only get from real French bread. I kinda didn't expect something that plain to taste that good. The staff were nice, patient, and even switched to English without me asking, which helped a lot. The place was lively and the line was fun and kind of chaotic in the best way.
We went on a bit of a croissant food crawl and no better way to start than here, this boulangerie won an award for best Paris croissant in 2018. There was a short queue, but it moved quickly, it was around 10 mins in and out. There isn't any seating available so it's a grab and go kind of spot, we ate the croissant beside the shop. The croissant was top quality. It was flakey and crispy on the outside, while also being fluffy and soft inside. You can taste the buttery flavor throughout the croissant, the consistency was perfect. You could also tell it was freshly toasted by how hot it was in the palm of my hands. If you love croissants, definitely check them out. They're located in quite the touristy neighborhood, so you're bound to be in the area. The croissant was also very inexpensive and makes for a filling snack (hello carbs!) that will keep you going throughout the day.
My friend highly recommended this place and it lived up to her hype! The croissant was absolutely delicious, highly recommend! Its more of a walk up bakery and there were a few pigeons flying around inside the space. If it was closed off and indoors it would be better but still a delicious bakery. The workers were friendly and helpful. read more

Hands down the best croissant I've ever had. And we went to 7 bakeries for croissants around Paris that week. There is so much traffic that you can always get a warm freshly baked croissant. It's so buttery but crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. It was so good I went twice in a week. read more

First Impressions: Seriously, I could smell the baked goods from down the street. The bakery is opened the street and the wafting smells of sweets and spice would have lured me inside even if I wasn't already heading there. This spot is reputed to have some of the BEST croissants in all of Paris so of course it made it onto my brother's hit list of the top 12 spots for croissants. Everyone was super nice and friendly (despite our terrible French) and very patient with us as we were looking over everything and deciding what to order The Noms: The croissants did not disappoint. They were buttery and flakey and perfect on their own (though I do like to slather jam on it or have it with some ham and cheese tucked into the middle). Hands down my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE item on the whole menu is the Kouign-amman. Those babies are BEYOND anything I've ever had. My only regret is I only got two and by the time I tried to head back for more, they were sold out. SOLD OUT!? For the Love of God, WHHHYYY??? Lesson of the day, always... ALWAYS buy more Kouign-ammans than you think will will be able to eat. UGH. We got a handfull of other goodies, some fruit tarts, a chocolate éclair, a caramel éclair, etc etc. We made a meal of it and just OD'd on pastries, I'm pretty sure we all got diabetes at the end of the day. In Conclusion: I would (no lie) fly back to Paris just to eat more Kouign-amman's from this bakery. It's just THAT good. Do yourself a favor, learn from my mistake, order DOUBLE of the number of Kouign-ammans you think you'll eat. 10/10 would recommend this spot (one of my favorite bakeries in all of Paris)!! read more
Simply put, this will be the best croissant you will ever eat in your life. There really is nothing more ( or less) that can be said about the experience of having one of this bakery's croissants. When in Paris you are cheating yourself out of an extraordinary experience if you don't stand in line for one of these little mouth-watering miracles. read more
The best croissant I had in Paris without a doubt. Perfectly flaky and crispy and soft all at the same time. We randomly stumbled upon this place in our neighborhood and planned to go back the next day! It's a couple weeks since we got back from our trip and I'm still thinking about it. Besides the croissant, we also really enjoyed the apple tart but if you had to pick one (would not recommend just picking one :), you should get the croissant. read more

You have to go here and get a croissant if you're in Paris. Expect a line but it moves quick and is well worth it. Best one we had during our trip!! (We went on a Saturday morning and there was an awesome fresh food market happening at the same time!) read more

The croissant au beurre was truly a thing of pure beauty! For 1,10 euros, you receive what appears as a daintily rolled crescent. A bite into this immaculate creation is pure bliss. Try to hold yourself back from devouring it all in seconds and take a look inside at the undulating flaked and buttery soft folds. Utterly superior craftsmanship. It is no wonder they won "Best Croissant" in 2018. A line certainly was present, but moved efficiently. Workers were attentive and interactions were pleasant. Only locals were here purchasing baked goods during our visit. Tis a good sign of good things! read more
Best croissant I tasted on this trip to Paris (out of the 5 places we tried)! Crispy exterior and buttery soft/chewy interior. 100% would recommend. They still had lines at 4pm on a Sunday. We liked it so much we bought another dozen to fly home to the states. Unfortunately they do not toast up the same . Will just have to come back! read more

Hands down the best croissant in Paris! A bold statement, I know, but you're going to have to trust a complete internet stranger on this one. If it helps, this place won "Best Croissant" in Paris a few years ago. The croissant: Perfectly crispy on the outside and soft, gooey, and buttery on the inside. The layers flake to perfection. There wasn't a line when I went on a Sunday morning around 10am. I took my croissant to go as I wandered the charming streets of the Latin Quarter. There's no seating inside, so look elsewhere if you want the classic leisurely Parisian cafe. read more

A lot of the items on display looks delicious. I got myself a croissant to try as well as pan au chocolat. It was delicious. The only downside is your fingers get greasy eating because of so much butter. Ok maybe that's not a downside ehem. read more

When in Paris one must enjoy a croissant or two! We had heard this bakery won the best croissants award and it really peaked our interest to try one. We absolutely loved them and it definitely was delicious, nothing like we have back in California. We ordered a few and they kept us going as we walked around Paris and stayed fresh tasting, did not become stale.The line was a bit long but worth the wait for sure and it moved quickly. Everyone was friendly and patient with all of our questions, as we love being a tourist and asked many. Definitely stop in for a croissant and enjoy! read more
Hands down. The best croissant I've ever had in my life. I would go back to Paris just to get another one. The way I found this place was such a happy accident. We were walking around to go see the pantheon and suddenly smelled this ~heavenly~ buttery smell. We used our noses to find the source. When we got there, it was a quaint bakery. We each got a croissant for about 1.20 euros. We went out and started eating them and then immediately got back in line to get another one. That's how delicious they were. They were nice and warm, flaky, and perfectly soft. read more

Stayed in Paris for a month this was the only bakery we went to have breakfast with the fresh baked croissant out of oven or sandwich for lunch. Luckily our flat was a few blocks away from it. The line could be longer on weekends. The service could have been better but dealing with the crowds it's not bad at all. Compared with the NYC Paris baguette both price and quality this is much cheaper and better; a plain croissant in Paris baguette costs $3.19 but it only costs €1.20 in la maison d' Isabelle. Truly a bargain and treat for the taste buds and wallet. read more
Out of all the croissants I had in Paris (at least 20), this one from La Maison d'Isabelle is the clear winner! This bakery won the "Best Croissant" award for a reason! The butter croissant was easily the best one I've ever had (possibly the best I will ever have). It's perfectly flaky on the outside and heavenly buttery on the inside. You can taste the distinct layers as you bite into them. Not to mention, each croissant is only 1 euro - unbelievable! I also tried the pain au chocolat and the kouign-amann - both are great as well! You can't leave Paris without going to this life-changing bakery. It's one of my favorite spots in Paris, perhaps one of the main reasons why I loved the city so much! read more

Came here twice on the same trip and frankly I would eat breakfast everyday! Bummer that they don't sell coffee. The line is long but moves really quickly and sometimes they call people who only order baguettes and croissants separately! read more

We came here because I had read it was the best crossiant and the incredibly low prices. It lived up to this reputation in every way! My favorite croissant of the entire trip. The only thing to know is this is 100% a grab and go place. We arrived early to avoid running out of time before our Catacombes visit but there was no line at all. read more

Lovely buttery, flaky croissants just as they should be. Quiche Lorraine was light and delicious. Wonderful baguettes as well. There are so many places to buy croissants in Paris, but this was our favorite. read more

Best croissants we have ever tasted! We happened to be walking by and saw the sign that said Best Croissant in Paris 2018 and had to stop and try for ourselves! This was our seventh trip to Paris so we have tried lots of French croissants but this shop makes delicious croissants and pain au chocolate. Light and flakey outside with soft delicate buttery deliciousness inside! I'm salivating just writing this review and thinking about them! The baguettes were just okay and we also tried the kouign amann. Disappointed by the Kouign Amman as the carmelized sugar bottom was too soft and chewy but we are spoiled by B Patisserie in San Francisco Kouign Amann's. The proprietor of B Patisserie Belinda Leong was trained in France and makes delicious pastries! If you can make it to this shop, make sure to try them for yourself! read more

Overhyped and not worth it. I don't understand all the hype about this place. I lived in Paris for two years and there are infinitely better croissant. Remember this award was given to them for a croissant in 2018 and it's 2022 now! After reading that they had such fabulous croissant, I went here today, and they had a few croissants sitting in the front under glass. I ordered two, and they were oversized, fat, borderline tasted stale, and freezing cold. Since I was going to consume them immediately, I asked if there's any way to warm it in their oven as it was 0' degrees Celsius outside (literally freezing) and the croissant were hard and cold, and they said no. Outside there were a couple tourists who obviously had read the same reviews and were eating them on the sidewalks. I don't know why anyone would venture over here to eat these croissants, they are nothing special for France. There are much better ones in Paris and the best way to eat a croissant is fresh not after it has been sitting behind a window for hours. Since they advertise that their croissants are so special, they should be constantly baking them and putting fresh ones out for purchase instead of having stale ones lingering in the window for sale. And they're not even offering to try to heat them up slightly to make them taste fresh after sitting for hours. Some people say you shouldn't warm a croissant, and it should be dipped in your coffee. Well, good luck to those people. It was not a great experience, at least for me, and I sadly don't recommend this bakery. It's a tourist trap bakery and so is some of the surrounding neighborhood. Try a real bakery like one of the authentic ones in the Marais across the Seine. read more
