Came here for a late lunch while we were in the area. Prior to today we hadn't been here since around 2010. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entry. The atmosphere is vibrant in color and nicely laid back. The restrooms were also brightly colored, well lit and clean. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Our food came out quick and was so good. Everything was seasoned really well and a good temperature. I was so happy that my fond memories of this restaurant weren't tarnished and the food / service was just as good as before. I'd certainly come back here again if we're in the area again.

Deliciously solid dining experience! I had the Pollo Maria and husband had the chicken fajitas. Both were excellent choices and tasted great. Salsa and chips were served warm and were also delicious, and the service was attentive. This was my first time to eat here, and I'll definitely be back!

My yelp family did not lead me astray! and La Margarita did not disappoint! It was outstanding! As shared from others, the salsa is served warm which I feel is always a good sign. The tortilla chips were also great, and I got a cup of the queso, which was creamy and pretty typical. The popular Pollo Maria dish is just the same as pictured and described, if not better in real life! It's a generous serving so you can come hungry or share! The chicken and the chipotle mash were both so delicious. The creamy sauce that blankets about 75% of the plate is just divine. Even the veggie medley (probably squash) on top was nice. I dined in for my Thanksgiving Eve tex mex tradition, and the service was good. All workers wore masks and were friendly or attentive. I didn't go into the bar area towards the back, but the overall restaurant was clean with booth dividers and plenty of tables. I'd be happy to return and explore more of the menu! La Margarita is located in an Irving shopping area/strip mall near Aldi, Wing Stop and other businesses at Belt Line and Rochelle Road.

My husband and I found this place in 2019 - we were in the area and stopped in after reading great Yelp reviews. Fast forward to 2024 and I had to come back while I was in town. The guacamole is super tasty, I call it the legendary guacamole. I recommend all the things!

    Spinach enchiladas

Ok people let's talk about Legendary tortilla soup. The broth tasted like it was tomato forward based. Although this is not out of the norm in chicken soups it is not what I am accustomed to eating as tortilla soup. This is soup is not flavored as I think it should to in part the best flavor profile to enhance the other ingredients such as the chicken. The tomato muddles the flavor. The addition of potatoes and masa did not lend any additional flavor to this soup. Cooks/chefs at this location needs to try and gain a lesson from those who prepare the most delicious tortilla soup at Ojeda(a family style and maybe owned establishment.) located in Desoto Texas. I ordered the "duck carnitas ". When I saw this I thought "what the hell" how can duck and pig((pork)) exist in this dish? Who knows how it will taste.‍ the meat in them tasted like pork that has a sweet glaze or marinade. Duck would not be stringy but would have been cooked on the rare side like a medium steak. The spinach enchiladas were ok they lacked salt. And, the sauce on top was thick and creamy but the spinach inside needed to have been cut finer. The chef left them whole leaf which made them hard to cut with a fork and eat. The white corn tortillas were not warmed enough prior to serving. The seasoning on the spinach was excellent. The restaurant decorated as a Mexican cafe was lovely. There is a mural on a wall and there are niches with the sun image that are bright and cheery. I came here because of the name and left here with a sense of closure. Meaning definitely all Mexican restaurants are not equal. Will I come to this location again? Not in the near future. Will I recommend to an enemy? Yes to a friend? Yes with a caveat to read reviews prior to visiting. Happy eating people ! Enjoy life and pleasures.

When we asked the manager about it, he didn't seem to know they changed this. 10/25/25 was 8.25% tax (including alcohol in the order). All recent bills were anywhere from 13% to 16.5% hidden in the "tax" line, not even itemized. I'm sure because they know most won't realize it. This may explain why on a Friday at 5pm (even with a social hour) the bar was empty except for one other couple. Not going to reduce the stars since I like many of the long-timers that work here, but whoever is running the show now should probably re-examine their decisions. #WWFD

The menu leans Mexican fusion, with standout seafood and steak options across the board. One of my personal favorites is their sea bass special with pineapple reduction. It's beautifully balanced sweet, savory, and rich without being heavy and comes with perfectly cooked charred vegetables on the side. The drinks are excellent, especially the margaritas, which definitely lean on the stronger side, fair warning that one drink can feel like two. Save room for dessert too; they offer a solid selection of cakes and sweets that are a great way to close out the meal. Service is attentive and warm, and they also have private group dining rooms available, making it a great option for corporate events or holiday parties. Valet parking is available, but there's also plenty of convenient parking right next to the restaurant. Overall, Via Real is a reliable, elevated dining experience that still feels welcoming and rooted in tradition, a Las Colinas classic for a reason.

The poblano sauce is so good, I'd like to get a job in the kitchen for the recipe. We also asked for a side of the mole sauce just to try, it was smoky, sweet, and the right amount of spices. The tacos remind me of the tacos I get in Mexico with the grilled pineapple and picked onions. The salsa offered with the chips is warm and I love that. Will definitely be a go to restaurant for me. I forgot to snap a picture but I'll list some things I tried: Empanadas- 10/10- a must order. Flavor, texture, and taste are all amazing. Molé enchiladas- the molé is so good- especially for Dallas since most places are Tex Mex and molé is more Mexican. Definitely order if this is in your "taste profile." Lunch specials- I don't even know if this is on their website but they have a great lunch menu and they have a lunch combo special where you can pick two items for $10.50 and it comes with rice and beans. I ordered the cheese enchilada and the mini chimichanga. Full disclosure I didn't eat the mini chimichanga because I didn't know it was covered in queso and I hate queso (unpopular opinion- I know). I loved the enchilada though and it had chili con carne sauce which was delicious. Rice and beans were also very good. Next time I'll just say no queso on the chimi. The restaurant is really tiny but cozy and you can tell it is family owned. Definitely will be a regular spot for me and will be back.

The manager also came and gave us free beef fajita samples since he found out it was our first time. The flavor and juiciness of the beef blew me away. My wife and I got queso to compliment the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa and bean dips. I was a big fan of the beans too, didn't think I would be. We ended up getting a trio (beef, chicken, shrimp) fajita 1/2 pound and it was perfect for the 2 of us. You can taste the grilled and charred flavor on the meats. The chicken and shrimp were slightly on the drier side but when combined with the sour cream, beans, guac, cheese, they were perfection. For the two people, the limitation ended up being more the toppings to the fajitas but it was just enough. At about $25 for 2, that was a steal. The queso was about $9. Right before we were about to leave, Kayla recommended the tres leches dessert and you know we had to try it. It was solid. Loved the cream on top. Definitely would come back again!

On our way back from Asia, my husband and I had a stop through the DFW area and immediately decided…read morethat we needed to take advantage of being back near a region that really knows Mexican food. Living in Sioux Falls has many positives, but distinct and deeply flavorful Mexican cuisine is unfortunately still something that's a little harder to come by compared to places like Arizona or Texas. So, we made it a point to stop at Lupe Tortilla while passing through Irving. The first thing we noticed was how packed the restaurant was during lunch. People were pouring in steadily, and the atmosphere had that energetic local favorite feeling where you know people come because they genuinely enjoy the food. Thankfully, the meal itself delivered. Now, was it the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was still leagues beyond most of what we've experienced lately back home in South Dakota. The carne asada especially stood out. The portion was massive, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. You could immediately tell it had actually spent some time on a grill instead of simply being rushed out of a kitchen. We also enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, all of which had that comforting Tex-Mex richness and seasoning that we've really missed. Unfortunately, we were on a fairly tight travel schedule and couldn't linger the way we would have liked. Honestly, this felt like the sort of place where you could easily sit awhile longer, enjoy another drink, sample more dishes, and just soak in the lively atmosphere. Still, even as a quick stop, it was a great experience and a delicious reminder of how much we miss the bold Mexican food culture of the Southwest.

(English down below)…read more Saliendo del aeropuerto DFW, busqué algún restaurante que tuviera sopa de mariscos; no sé de dónde vino el antojo. Digo yo... no sé. Mejorar estos dos detalles llevaría la experiencia en El Viejón a otro nivel. ¡El Viejón, recomendadísimo! ------------------------------------- Leaving DFW airport, I found myself craving seafood soup--no idea where the craving came from. I searched for nearby options and El Viejón came up. I checked the online menu and reviews, then drove 13 minutes, only to discover a real gem. What I loved: The service was excellent. Nidia took care of us--she was not only kind, but also attentive and efficient. Adolfo, the manager, is a great guy. The simple but important things: Their plastic cups are surprisingly original. The menu is simple and humorous. Prices are fair for the generous portions they serve. What truly impressed me: The seafood soup. This kind of soup is simple: either you know how to make it, or you don't--and when you don't, it ends up like the one at Pappadeaux... something to cry about. This one, however, is loaded with seafood (crab, clams, octopus, fish, shrimp, squid, etc.). It has a subtle sweetness, and you can taste every distinct note. Highly recommended. One soup is more than enough for one person. I learned that lesson too late--after also ordering the grilled octopus. I had to get it to go because it was simply too much food. My only two complaints: The tostadas they serve come with chicken that looks like tuna but tastes like plastic. My dog was with me and wouldn't even eat it--which says a lot. Very strange. The other issue is the music: too loud and all from the same genre. If the goal is to honor Mexican culture, there are so many genres to choose from. Just saying--I don't know. Fixing these two things would take the experience at El Viejón to another level. El Viejón--highly recommended.
