After dining at La Marsa several times (more for carry-out than dining in) I have to say that I am glad to have this an option for the Brighton dining scene. We always enjoy the garlic spread with fresh baked bread-delicious but pack an Altoid or three as it has an eyelash melting amount of garlic. The entrees are good and generously portioned but we have found the sandwiches to be just as satisfying and priced at a far lesser cost. First things first, the food here is fantastic! Everything is flavorful, unique, and never disappointing. But what really keeps me coming back is the service. Everybody that works here is extremely friendly but also professional. They remember their regular customers, they greet you with a smile and ask how you're doing. Most importantly, they want you to leave satisfied. I've only ever had one or two minor issues in the many many times I have come, but both times I had an issue it was remedied immediately by the manager. I grew up in Dearborn and this place doesn't compare to those in the south end. Those out in Livingston County must not have much to compare. Bread is decent, portions are small. Expect to pay 3$ or 4$ more per entree than the other local Middle Eastern/Lebanese competitor. $50 gets you out the door for you and your sweetie to eat like kings. La Marsa does everything spot on right! Exactly what you expect in fine dining only not at fine dining prices. The floor plan is great and the place (including the restrooms) is/are always clean. Outside from making the meal homemade this is some of the best quality and flavored Middle Eastern cuisine's I've found anywhere. The service is always prompt even when the restaurant is packed with customers. Best of all when it comes to the menu items the wait staff is knowledgeable about the seasoning that goes into each dish and can offer valuable insight. The prices are always fair usually you can find some coupons in a local publication or on the web. Let me preface this by saying I lived in the Middle East for five years, so I know authentic cooking. Let me also say I specifically wanted to treat my 70-year-old parents to a new "food experience" (not Italian or Mexican - - which are in their safety zone), and this is the highest-rated restaurant that is within 15 minutes (expressway time) from their home. Upon sitting, we were given fresh pita (delicious) and garlic spread (wow - - SUPER strong so go easy at first!). I ordered "safe" dishes for them to try: Chicken Kabob with lemon-oregano sauce and rice (delicious) with the cup of Lentil Soup (delicious); Grilled Shrimp with fries (shrimp were large and tasty but a bit overcooked, HUGE portion of fries) with the side salad (typical but good); Tabbouleh (very good flavor but I wish the parsley had been chopped more finely); and Falafel (very good but the interior was a bit 'creamier' than I'm used to). Upon learning it was my parents' first time to eat Middle Eastern food, we were given four pieces of baklava for dessert (delicious). Four adults (small to average appetites) shared those two entrees (one with the soup and one with the salad) plus two appetizers (Falafel and Tabbouleh), and we still had leftover chicken and shrimp, most of the fries, and some of the salad and pitas! The service was friendly but professional, the interior was nicely decorated and very clean. My mom said she'll definitely stop in for tea and baklava if she's in the area at teatime! My family and I placed a $60 carry-out order last night (6/10/14). I was told it would take 25mins. We placed our order at 8:20pm. I showed up at 8:45pm. I did not walk out of there with my CARRY-OUT order until 9:45pm. I waited an hour for a CARRY-OUT! I watched two young women walk in, get seated, eat, pay their bill and leave all while I was still waiting for my to-go order! I also watched seven other people walk in after me and get their to-go orders handed to them prior to me receiving mine. I didn't get an apology... as a matter of fact nobody even paid any attention to me. Then I got home and realized the rice is boring, the soup is boring, my chicken kebob came with four small slices of carrots and no roasted tomatoes as the picture shows... the hummus was the only thing good about this place. Maybe the dining experience is a little better but never order a large carry-out order from this place. My guess is they either forgot about my order, or it was last priority since it was so big. My family and I will not be returning here for a long, long time. My suggestion: Hire competent staff. Not these Taco Bell graduates. read more

After having lunch with friends at La Marsa, I was excited to take my family there. There were 6 of us and we were not disappointed. It was a wonderful experience. The server, Alyssa, was informative and gracious with her patience while we took our time looking over the menu. My husband ordered the Beef Kabob, a little tough but tasted great. I've heard they have good food but I will never get to try it due to the most rude waitstaff I have ever come in contact with! I called in advance to see if they could take a reservation for 6 for my wife's birthday. They seemed very accommodating over the phone. I was told they would be happy to hold a table for us for 6:30 pm. I asked if they needed my name, they promptly told me no that they would just hold the table. I asked for the name of the person I was speaking with then they just hung up on me. After a half an hour drive, Our party arrived at 6:15 pm. As we walked in, ahead of us a party of 8 to 10 people were being seated. After the host sat them he came back to seat us. I told him we had a reservation for 6 at 6:30. He rudely stated that they didn't take reservations and began seating the next 3 smaller groups who came in after us, rung up 2 carry out orders and then figured he would deal with me. I asked him again about our reservation. He told me that he didn't know who would have taken a reservation because they don't do that type of thing and they didn't have any tables available. I told him that I just watched him sit 16 people, 6 of which came in after us and now there are no tables available! He then said." I don't know what you want me to tell you sir, I don't know who would have told you we take reservations so there is nothing I can do for you." No apology no we will try to accommodate you with a short wait, basically Just some high quality get the F out of my face treatment. I will never visit this restraunt again nor any that bare it's name and I recommend you do the same. There are plenty of places that would love your business and won't treat you like some peasant begging for change. read more
