I've been to my fair share of Mediterranean restaurants throughout the state and the country, and I can honestly say La Marsa tops my list of favorites. I had the mousaka and it was very tasty and plentiful. Plenty enough for dinner for two the next day! Others in my party had the vegetarian combo and it was a feast that would have fed at least 4 or 5 people. My favorite item on the vegetarian platter was the mjadra. I also had lentil soup and of course bread and garlic sauce. Hands down the best lentil soup I've ever had, anywhere. And the bread and garlic sauce were excellent as well. I love that La Marsa serves fresh oven bread. There's no other way to eat Mediterranean food than with fresh oven bread! I'm placing a take out order later today, so I will see you soon. This is my absolute go to for the BEST mediteranian there is! I travel to Michigan for work often and always make time for a stop here! Chicago may have great food in general but this place in brighton, mi is tops! From the lentil soup to the garlic and pita you get for the table everything is made fresh and delicious every time. If we are more than 2 people we get the veggie combo (which is enough for about 4); but if I am alone I can get the kids veggie combo with soup and its the perfect amount for one. Only down side is no wine... I would think about taking a star away for that but this place is just too good! read more

Love La Marsa! I won't eat store bought hummus anymore as it doesnt hold a flame to the delicious, creaminess that you will find at La Marsa. While I have only been the the Brighton location once, I've been to the Troy and Farmington locations multiple time. The food is alway delicious and your always leave with leftovers. Just finished eating take-out. Great overall experience! Food was delicious, and have eaten here several times before with similar results. What made me most impressed with this particular experience and what prompted this review was the level of customer service they provided. After coming home and unpacking my order, I realized the pita that went with my hummus order was missing. Upon calling them to inform them of this and let them know I would be coming back to pick it up, I was immediately offered for them to deliver it to my door. Coming from a non-delivery restaurant and rather from a conscientious employee/manager, I am utterly impressed. To top that, they included delicious baklava! This location was previously a deli which I frequented because of the small crowds and free WIFI. After the deli closed, I assumed another one would open and I would be back to my routine of sandwiches and latte's, but to my surprise the recent grand opening was for a nice Mediterranean Restaurant called La Marsa. On my first visit I had the Koshary ($11), an Egyptian dish The serving was on a huge platter, mounded with with pasta, rice, lentils, and onions, and flavored with garlic and spices. I have never tasted anything quite like it - and that is a good thing! I love exotic food, and enjoyed this one immensely. A friend ordered the dish upon my recomendation, and they were pleased as well - only finishing about half of it. On my second visit I felt a bit more brave and ordered Mjadra ($12), which is a Lentils, cracked wheat, onions, olive oil and herbs. I think the waiter told me that it is a traditional Lebanese dish. I enjoyed this one as well. It had a flavor different from anything I have ever eaten. The plate of food was huge, but I was eager to dig in. It seems to me that it would go well as a side-dish, but it was definately the main course in this case. Delicious food! I highly recomend La Marsa Mediterranean Cusine. Great service! Everything we had was delicious. They give a generous portion of garlic sauce and fresh bread. The salad was yummy. We had the spicy hummus, baba ghanoush, and tabouli to start. The food here is awesome. We've been here several times and never had a bad meal. The problem is the poor service and expensive drinks. I'm already paying top dollar for the food which I can live with but to pay top dollar for a soft drink to arrive 10 minutes late is stretching it. We have been coming here since they opened 4 years ago. The staff is courteous, the food is delicious and we are always welcomed like family. This is absolutely my favorite Brighton restaurant. Gordon runs a tight ship but seems to genuinely care about the staff. We typically order the Shish Combo for 2. However, if Mediterranean food is new to you, be sure to go the first Monday and Tuesday of the month for the buffet for some variety and see what you like. read more

I like the food here. Service does need work. I always have the same thing when I eat here. Last time I are here my salad was horrible. I sent it back without even eating one bite. The lettuce looked old and was brown. I also don't like the fact that when you are offered a refill on your soft drink they bring it in a pitcher, especially when that pitcher was sitting around for an hour and when the sever filled up my drink, my Mountain Dew was flat. I recommend ordering your salad with dressing on the side. read more

Don't pay cash! You won't get your change! I had $10 and some change bill and unfortunately all I had was $100 bill, I tipped $10, and some how I only had $59 left. My fault I suppose for not counting my change till after leaving, but I noticed and went right back! Shawarma and falafel are good. I was really looking forward to some koshary, but was disappointed with the egyptian koshary and garlic sauce. Not sure what it was but there was a strong bitter after taste, maybe the vinegar is the cause. Hopefully they can fix it soon. I will try the place again for the sandwiches. read more

We used to drive to Dearborn because we didn't think anything local could be this good, but we are thrilled La Marsa is a quick drive away and everything is fantastic! My wife and I go here regularly and they know us by name. It's the real deal on Medd food with a touch of Arab culture ie Tunisia Egypt. I am stuck on the David Basha and my wife loves the Sautee's.
