The food was comparable to other middle eastern restaurants in the area. We went for lunch around 2pm, and we were standing in the lobby for several minutes before someone came out to seat us. That was the only downside. The food was good, and they gave us tons of food. We ordered the sampler platter to start with, and then had a great big fattoush salad! Then, we had a couple different sandwiches. Everything was good, the service was fast, and I would go back again. Next time I will try something different, and go for dinner. The place was also very reasonably priced. With all of the food we had, our bill was only around $30. The garlic sauce and bread are killer. I love falafel and had it twice at two different La Marsa locations and it was so dry both times. I get that falafel usually is but this was almost painfully dry. The hummus was excellent though and the salad was good. Ordered a carry out, when I came in to pick up the order the man at the counter asked the name and stated how much. I paid and waited. The man helped two other people then went into the back. After waiting over ten minutes the man came from the back. He reached over to the back counter where my order had been sitting the ENTIRE TIME I was there! Wish I had gotten my order when I paid since it was already ready sitting there. When I got home the chicken shawarma sandwich I ordered was cold, the chicken was old and dry. This place is a joke. I called in to ask about a Groupon offer. They guy behind the phone says "it depends, just let us know when you get here". How unprofessional and to just hang up after that. Like damn I know Covid has your business losing sales, but you just lost another customer. Shut this place down. Other locations are far better. La Marsa has been a staple since I have worked in Troy. Last week's experience was terrible. Slow and unfriendly waitstaff. I wanted to order crushed lentil soup but they had NO lemon, not for water, not for soup, etc...they offered lime and looked at me like i was crazy for wanting lemon. The hommous was good as usual but the fresh bread was cold and stale, the garlic sauce was not up to snuff and the falafel had no seasoning and just tasted like mushy fried beans. I think there might be new ownership a foot and they are not crushing it. Plenty of great Mediterranean places near and around the area, i will not be heading back to La Marsa. read more

I would leave a five star because the food and the people are almost always amazing. The experiences I have had have all been great...with the exception of the one we had today. A friend of mine called to place a carry out order more than a half an hour before the restaurant closed. All we wanted was a cup of soup, some fries and some hummus and we made that known. (bear in mind the fries take a couple mins and the other items just get scooped out of one container and put in a to go box). We were told that we can't place an order, and employees in the background were heard saying to tell us no. I suppose that it kind of skewed my view of a place that was once one of my favorites. Nothing like spending money on good food! I frequent the Sterling Heights location because it's closer to home. I ended up here on accident as my other favorite place in Troy (CedarKabob) quit making their fluffy fresh pita bread. So, I noticed this place was right down the road and decided to make a detour. I'm so glad I did! It's in a plaza and honestly doesn't look aesthetically appealing on the outside but once you walk in it's pure class. The ambience and the placement of the dining area is really nice. I was promptly greeted by someone whom I believe to be the owner and our server! This gentleman has been my server a couple times at the Sterling Heights location. He had such great suggestions for the menu! Our entire table opted for the chicken shawarma and the fried Kibbee and a couple of salads. The salads were fresh and crisp with the house dressing, so good. We received warm fluffy pita bread with delicious garlic dipping sauce! This in its self was was a WIN for me. The shawarmas were delivered promptly and were HOT!! The French fries were surprisingly good! Two things that kept this from being a 5 star rating. I was disappointed with the kibbee, it wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be and the sauce that accompanied it left me feeling bland, plus the pickled beets were soggy not crisp like I am used to and they weren't as pickled as I would have liked. My only qualm was I had to ask for refills on water and remind my server for a few things I previously asked for, even though there weren't many tables dining in. Ordered shish combo for 2 and a plate of falafel. The falafel was sour and my husband got an upset stomach. We called the manager with feedback. We paid cash and didn't have the receipt. After all.. who keeps receipts from restaurants? The manager said without the receipt he will not do anything about it. We looked everywhere for the receipt but couldn't find it. We've been coming here for more than a decade. (La Shish was the original Resturant). The original Resturant had a very distinct taste, very good. La Marsa is great as well, very original dishes. Shwarmas were a bit too runny, though. All of the salads are great! read more

This used to be the "go to" place in Troy for Middle Eastern food... no more - sad. Soups (wife and I had different choices of soup and entree) warm at best. Bread was homemade, hot, fresh and carried the meal. Vegetables grilled well. Both chicken dishes were dry, plain in appearance and not near what we used to experience. Restaurant was dark and uninviting, plants disheveled and we were given salad forks (even though we didn't get salads) - no regular dinner forks provided. I've only done carry out before. They have quick and friendly service. The food is great and lunch time pricing is a bit expensive ($13) but you get so much food you can save it for dinner later. We get the shish combo for two, hummus, extra pita and fried kibbie. It is enough for two dinners and a hummus snack in between! The prices are high, but due to the freshness and quality, I feel it is a bargain! Their fresh squeezed lemonade is A MUST try! It has orange juice in it too and it is served slushie style.... Went for a late lunch with my family on a Saturday afternoon. These odd hours can go both ways in terms of the service you receive. As soon as we sat down we were quickly served bread and had our water glasses filled. We ordered fallafel and hummus for apps. By the time they came we asked for more and it was quickly delivered. Ordered the sampler plate for two carryout last week and unfortunately bit into a small rock that was in the rice, chicken, veggie container when I was eating leftovers. Called the company just to let them know and the guy said he didn't know where the rock came from but asked if we went outside, had a BBQ, and implied the rock must have come from us. The wings were a bit greasy, but everything else was awesome. They bake their bread fresh, and that is why I grade Arab/Lebanese places like this highly. I do not want to tear into delicious baba ghanoush with crappy sandwich bag bread. Screw that! Here, you do not have to. I don't know how you can mess up garlic spread but they did, it tasted like it was made with oil from fish Friday. We ordered Shish combo for 2 people. it comes with 2 salads, 2 lamb kabob, 2 chicken kabob and one beef. They also serve bread with garlic spread before the meal. they are all delicious! The meat are cooked to perfection. The meat are really juicy and has so much flavor to it. I highly recommend this place. The only downside is it's kinda of pricy (but after restaurant.com certificate) it is actually not bad. The combo for two is $29.99.
