Wow! I ordered a carry out and I wasn't feeling very well so I asked the manager Lisa if I could have the soup I ordered prior to the rest of the order. I had a groupon and the manager told me he would not accept it and was extremely rude to me. This place is known for its rude staff/servers and its unfriendly nature, but never did I experience firsthand like I did today. The manager told me to get out of the restaurant if I didn't like it and threatened to call the police on me. I was very polite and just tried to come to an understanding with him. I was there last Saturday. The food is good. I was very disappointed by managers attitude. The restaurant was busy, we were party of 11 , he seated 6 of us and when a table near by was available he left us stranded there and asked another family to be seated and said we had to wait. I did not understand how he can seat the next customer when he has not taken care of first. This was just the beginning of our nightmare. No silverware or menu cards were given to us. Had to remind one of the servers to provide us with silverware and menu. 4 of us took turns in the next half hour to either remind them to fill our glasses with water or take our orders. Kids were getting hungry.. We joked and called ourselves the invisible table. Finally one our friends gave up and asked the manager how long is it going to take or will anyone will ever serve us. The manager was rude. When it came to pay the bill, I complained about the poor service. Instead of apologizing or being polite, I was taken aback by his rude attitude and what he said. If you are not happy then don't tip the waiter. Where did that come from. La Marsa lost 3 families yesterday. Intact due to the manager's behavior in past I preferred different restaurant, we were in La Marsa after a long time and the attitude of the manager is worse than the last time. I do understand that sometimes when you are busy things cannot be the same. But having an attitude and being rude does not justify . Servers were continuously apologizing for his bad behavior. I had decided to NOT get the fattoush salad because of the lettuce recall and as I was waiting for my carry-out I overheard a waiter comment to another customer that because of the recall they are making the salad with spinach instead of romaine! I am a addict when it comes to this place. I love Lebanese Mediterranean food:) I am so glad its there! Its as known as the old "La Shish".. The wait staff is really nice, friendly and really good looking especially the guys at take out always smiling and quick:). When you dine in the manager usually comes over to make sure your experience is well. I usually go there for takeout and they have a separate takeout section of the building with a separate door. I usually get tomato kibbe which is fabulous and tabouli. Its hard to find tomato kibbe around but they make it great here and the tabouli is better then most places. they have a very formal dining area with white tablecloths, you can dress up or dress down here. I like this place better then Beirut Palace in Royal Oak the only thing they have on this place is there bread is more yummy. But the bread is also really good here and when you order take out you watch them take the fresh bread out of the oven in the bag for you. One of our favorite places to dine out. The food is always exceptionally good. And the serving sizes are huge. We always leave with left overs. You automatically get fresh pita and homemade garlic spread when you arrive. The fattoush salad is very good. All entrees come with soup or salad - the salad is enough for two people to share. I loved this place. I had a lunch chicken shawarma plate. It was delicious! It included bread, soup or salad, chicken shawarma, and fries or rice. The lamb chili hit the spot on such a cold day. absolutley delicious! not all mediterreanean food is good, but this place is so amazing! their warm pita with garlic sauce is to die for. we always get the hummus because of how great it tastes. the ambiance is awesome too, i find it a good place to go for a ncie quiet date without much distractions. the chicken kabob is delicious but really you cant go wrong with anything. the service is subperb and they are always on time with your meal and never leave you questioning anything on the menu! i loved their carryout service also, they are always on time and very nice about getting the order right! read more

Fabulous! This was the first time my dining partner and I had ever been there. We were thoroughly impressed. Excellent service, our server was great at giving suggestions and explanations. The food was delicious with HUGE portions. The food was very hot and fresh. The pita bread that comes with the garlic dip before the meal was easily the best I've ever had. Well I thought of coming here since it was around my mums birthday. We also had a coupon from restaurants.com. So this came out to be a good deal. We arrive at the place and it literally takes almost 2-3 minutes to be acknowledged and another 5 minutes to clean off a table. Next we are seated and of course a crying baby, lovely. Next we ordered this really good sounding combo platter. At first when we ordered the soups, my mum gets the lentil and its cold. I have to say the tumb and pita bread are very fresh. Then my dad gets the lamb soup and it was amazing. Therefore the soups are amazing. When they bring out the combo platter there's only grape leaves and hummus and salad. This was luckily the appetizer portion. When they brought out the other part, the food looked really good. The tawook was cooked well. The kafta was excellent, and the beef was okay. However the chicken sharama shredded was dried out. As for the earlier grape leaves, some tasted very not fresh. I have to say I been to plenty of Arabic restaurants, being part Arab this restaurant is not that great. Would never come to this location again! read more

Myself and my husband were eating at lamarsa troy on monday night and the service and experience were bad with management and our waiter. First of all we had to wait for the server to come to us almost 10 min and i we felt very unwelcome even though was really noone there. We ate our food and had to go to the front to ask about our bill and a very very young girl told us our total and gave our ck when i had asked why is the bill do much she gave us bill and we saw we were being charged for bread and garlic when we never had before. I then spoke to a very rude manager a tall dark haired man who shouted at us in front of the girl and another customer who was waiting for her carryout he yelled at me that i dont tip and must be charged a tip i said it was very bad service and and that its up to me if i dont want tip he shouted to not not return to his restaurant if i dont want to tip his very bad waiter i will never return to the establishment they are fighting customers for a few dollars very disgusted. Plus La Marsa is one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants. I always order the Chicken Ghallaba with rice and a salad. I like Ghallaba because it's the best of everything.. Their fresh pita melts in your tongue, their baba ganoush is the best I've ever had, and there is a lot of flavor in their food. I recommend the crushed lentil soup to start, then. We love this restaurant! We could eat here once a week. The atmosphere is lay back and comfortable. The price is fantastic and the food is always great. The service is fast and friendly. My husband and I usually split a meal and it is plenty with the salad. The Fatoosh or the Tabbouli are great and with the warm, homemade pita, yum. La Marsa has become my staple Middle Eastern restaurant in Troy. A while back, a friend and I began a challenge to try and find a better Middle Eastern restaurant in the area, since there are so many of them. In the end, we couldn't find any place that tops La Marsa. I'd say that Ike's in Sterling Heights is a close second, but the food here is amazing. The service can be a little hit-or-miss, but the food always delivers and the prices are good for what you get. In the end, I really don't see a need for settling for another Middle Eastern restaurant in Troy. read more
