I come here to get my marinated carne asada and chicken, meat has great flavor. Butchers are great. Meat is fresh and flavorful. I also get my queso fresco here. A little pricier than Rancho San Miguel but WAY better flavor and the convenience of a small grocery store. I have ordered from the deli they have inside and the rice is so good. Rigo's chicken (red marinade) is the way to go for grill chicken. This comes off the grill tender, tasty and juicy. The kids in our family are very picky eaters but they love this chicken. If you're hosting a BBQ, your money will go a long way here to feed the masses. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a deli with tons of choices, bakery with lots of different cakes and breads, carniceria, etc. The produce is fresh, cheap, and abundant. The aisles are wide, organized, and well-lit. I went to the bakery section, very little selection and whatever "fresh " Mexican bread they had was not fresh at all. It was stale and hard. For a local neighborhood Mexican market, this store was very clean and everything was in order. They have a nice butcher counter stocked with choice meats and a deli serving up the Mexican food basics...tacos, tortas, burritos, tamales, quesadillas, carnitas, etc..... Good place to get a good meal if you are in a hurry. Celi who work's the deli counter fixed me an order of tortas de carnitas and carne asada tacos to go. The torta melts in your mouth and the tacos were delicious and straight up Mexico. The store is small but the shelves are stocked with all the Mexican basics you'd expect to find. They have a small bakery case stocked with fresh Mexican pastries and bolillos. They do speak English so no worries there. This is one of the finest Mexican store I've been to and I recommend you check it out. read more

Their selection at the meat market is very balanced for a small store. I love their deli and often come for lunch to get their burritos or tortas. Employees could practice their English speaking skills for the non-Spanish speaking folk like myself when they make the assumption that I will understand them. I agree with Dave F.'s review, but I give it 4 stars because the deli counter is great for what it is: hearty and cheap Mexican food. I like to get sopes; they are $1.99 each and two is enough. One day I will try the chilaquiles. The store closes at 8pm, and the deli counter packs up about 15 minutes before that, so don't tarry. The staff at the counter will not make you feel embarrassed if you try to order in Spanish, even if you're a gringo like me. So I recommend giving it a try. read more

I can be pretty ocd about cleaning so I appreciated the day I founds them pulling all the grates in the deli and even cleaning the under parts. I've had their menudo several times. It has really good flavor, a lot of tripe (little meat and no hominy) but that's the way I like it. The broth is so delicious! It tastes clean with just the right amount of spices, add the onions (I add more oregano when I get home) and to me it's perfect! The only sad part is they only serve this on weekends, so when I am craving menudo in the middle of the week, I have to wait. What I also like are the refried beans. It has good flavor (not bland at all). I buy a small container and use it as a bean dip with chips (potato or tortilla). Yummy! The girls are very friendly in the store. I've been coming here for years. I like to support businesses in my community and it's a nice thing to walk, bike or skateboard some place nearby for a meal. And the food here is pretty decent. I must say, though, that the place has a new policy of no bikes, scooters and skateboards on the premises. Okay, bikes I understand, there's no real room for a bike inside. And I would never consider bringing one in, preferring to lock it up outside. But scooters that fold up and skateboards make no sense! The clerk insisted I leave my skateboard at the front by the door before spending my money inside. Yeah, like I am about to leave a $1700 electric skateboard by their door, free for the taking. Or a $350 carbon fibre board. No thanks. I'll just skate over to The Gourmet Burrito and chow there. They are super friendly, bring my meal to me, and the fare is delicious. I've ordered food from the back numerous times and have never really been happy or satisfied They short on meat a fill your burrito with plenty of beans and rice plenty of sour cream and then only give you 4 or 5 pieces of meat. This has been on more than one occasion and the burrito is made quickly and Sloppy. I stop in here from time to time when I don't wanna drive to the taco truck but from now on I'll be taking that drive. They are the best I've had from any store or restaurant in Stockton and, yes , I've gotten tamales from the southside and the eastside and these are still the best!!! This is a NEIGHBORHOOD store, not a megastore like Rancho San Miguel, which is part of a large chain of grocery stores. It is illogical to expect its prices to be as low as a chain store but, on the other hand, you don't have to drive miles across town in bad traffic to get there either! The store is immaculate and well-organized, much better than other small neigh- borhood markets I've seen. It has a wide selection of items for a store of its size. I have been there multiple times and never had any of the supposedly horrible experiences indicated. Judging from the tone and wording of some of the negative reviews, it may have been the customers who had an attitude rather what was actually experienced at the store! I even tried speaking to him in Spanish thinking it was a language barrier and NOPE he was still rude. Walked away from me while I was speaking to him to greet a man that walked in. He was super friendly to that guy. Guess my business isn't necessary. I did have a chance to look around, didn't see anything special you can't find at other stores. With better quality even.
