Whhhhhhhhhy? Why me!??!? Why in the world is this place so close to where I live???!! This will be a huge problem for my thighs and waistline. I know. I lack self control when it matters most so it's only natural that I literally wanted one of everything there. ..... Everything looked delicious and the prices were much cheaper than traditional ice cream parlors. If you are lactose intolerant, have a water based frozen treat. There are lots of those too. Want to try a few flavors? No problem! La Michoacana offers samples. I tried the strawberries and cream and the snickers ice cream. Opted for a scoop of Snickers. I tried my BF's pistachio and it was very good. After we finished round one, we both tried ice cream bars: macoyana (spicy) and pine nut. ...... Four ice treats for under $10. This is a great addition to the area and the prices are very reasonable. We spent less than $10 for four treats. I may never visit a popsicle store in Michoacan (West Mexico), but I have a little taste of Michocan in my backyard. It goes without saying that I will definitely return. (After all, we need to support the city of Addison AND work our way down the list of flavors). ..... Maybe I'll run into you there!

My cousins and I decided to try La Michoacana after eating dinner at a restaurant in the same strip mall. I looked forward to going to this unique ice cream shop after my cousin told me about the wonderful experience she had at another store location. However, I was very disappointed by many aspects of this place. For starters, the store was filthy! The floors were covered by crushed waffle cones and no one bothered the clean it up! The employees were so focused on cleaning already clean tables instead of an area that needed the most attention. However, that was not the worst part. The worst part of the experience was the customer service. When we arrived, the place did not have many customers, but we did not receive any service until 15 minutes later. In fact, the employees served the customer standing in line after us first before even acknowledging our presence. The employees was not too friendly to us and seemed to favor native Spanish speaking customers overall. Another horrible aspect of this store was the menu. The menu did not represent most of the ice cream flavors available in the store. I saw many flavors being offered that were not stated on the menu. I am fortunate that I know some Spanish because I was able to understand major categories and flavors listed. Although the menu had English translations on the side of menu items, it was in such small print that it was hard to read, especially if you are seeing the menu from afar inside of the store. The menu also failed to list prices. I was shocked by how expensive my order was and did not realize this until I was at checkout. Despite these terrible qualities, the flavors of the ice cream were decent for the most part. I got chocolate ice cream while my cousins got coffee and mint oreo ice cream. I tried all three ice creams. I liked my ice cream and the coffee one. However, the mint oreo ice cream tasted like toothpaste! The coffee had weird seeds in it that seemed out of place as well. Ice cream is one of my favorite deserts. I really wanted to like La Michoacana, but the store failed to meet my expectations for an ice cream shop in many ways. I usually do not have such detailed complaints on minor things, but the minor things really added up in my overall experience. I would recommend going to get your ice cream fix somewhere else.

Much better than the one nearby my home. Service and prices were excellent and didn't smell funny unlike the downers grove location. Super fresh fruits as expected - which is the reason why I came! Parking is okay, as it's in a strip mall like the other chains, but still ample enough for there to be no issues. Will be back.

I'm not sure what's going on with la Michoacána, but this isn't "natural" it should not be that green, I got a limón agua de chia. I'm pretty disappointed that they're doing this to the "natural waters".

Well, I guess I've been eating paletas from this place FOREVER!! My parents always bring me una de coco (Coconut) and I don't even know where I thought it came from but I decided to ask the other day....yup...La Michoacana. Man these things are so fresh and delicious. Incase there's some new kids in the class, paleta comes from Latin America and it's and ice pop usually made from fresh fruit. The name comes from palo, or "stick". There's tons of flavors to choose from, Mango, Pineapple with Chili Powder, Lime, Orange, Strawberry, Dried Fruit, nuts, coconut and many more. I gotta say though, the coconut one is the best, hands down! They also have regular ice cream...your usual strawberry, chocolate, vanilla. Then they get a little crazy with the mango and pistachio (YUMMMY). You can also go with fruit, including jicama, in a cup doused in lime with a little chili pepper on it, or some chicarron with Valentina. I see that there is other Michoacanas around, I wonder if it's a chain. Angie P had told me that this one was straight from the homeland so who knows.

The pink is pine nut ice cream and the yellow is vanilla.

Both flavors knocked my socks off! Visiting my parents house I saw all these ice cream pints in the freezer and got curious to try. Wow is all I can say. I don't even have a big sweet tooth! Support local! My parents had 5 pints in the freezer, but not for long lol

From the time we found out about the place, we have been coming back here at least once a week. The most amazing part above all is we try something different every time we come. The place is very much like a Mexican ice-cream shop. Majority of items in the menu are in Spanish and majority of their clientele are Hispanics. Ice-cream is a pretty universal thing in my book. So, it's a definite must try! The place has 20+ flavors of homemade ice-cream. What I love the most is they have tons of fruity flavors including tropical fruits with chunks of fruit in them. Flavors of their Popsicles are also very unique. Almost all of them have some surprises in them: pieces of fruits, nuts, and etc. One of our favorites are mangonadas, sherbet type ice cream with tangerine syrup and a little bit of chili, lime, and salt. I know it sounds a little strange but it is actually very well balanced something sweet with some something sour and something hot. They also have salty snacks like tacolocos, takiloco (mexican street snacks). I love experimenting them all! The place is a chain, couples of locations in the suburb. We went to two and haven't disappointed with any of them yet. The place is bright & clean. I just can't recommend it enough. Will go back again very soon.

Great place! They have great and quick service. The workers are always friendly. I prefer this Michoacana over the one on Lake St times 100.

I was treating my parents for my dad's birthday month (My daughter has a lot of activities, lol) and the menu appeared to have something for everyone. The 22 minute drive to Itasca was so worth it! The restaurant, which is open to the public, is on the same property as the Itasca Country Club, which is not open to the public. You go down the stairs, through the developing pizza bar, and to the restaurant. The restaurant space itself is cozy, with beautiful, natural lighting, and lots of seating options. We were asked booth or table and seated right by the picture window with beautiful views of their ice rinks and golf course. The food was above and beyond my expectations! Between the 5 people at the table, I sampled the French Onion soup, Sweet & Spicy Brussels, Bacon Smash Burger, Pot Roast Grilled Cheese, Sweet Tees (Donut Holes), Peanut Butter Smore-o, and Verde Dulce. The soup was not salty as I find some iterations, the brussels had complex flavors with hot honey, bacon, candied pistachios, and crumbled feta. The pot roast grilled cheese was very flavorful, but my boyfriend did state he wished the sandwich had more meat in it. The Sweet Tees donut holes were cooked to perfection without being oily and the jam accompaniment was a perfect texture and level of sweet. The Peanut Butter Smore-o was creamy and decadent with its perfectly ratioed layers of ganache, peanut butter mousse, Oreos, and whipped cream. The Verde Dulce, though, was the delicious classic olive oil cake with pistachio gelato & that throwback of candied pistachios from my appetizer. Even better than the food, our server, Kara, was one of the sweetest, most attentive human beings! She answered all of our questions, refilled our fountain drink and iced tea glasses when they were at 75% without prompting, made sure my dad felt celebrated with a candle, etc. Her teammate who was in charge of clearing our table was also prompt and I appreciate her asking what plates she could take. Overall, it was a beautiful late morning/early afternoon with delicious food and impeccable service. 10/10 recommend!!!

If you haven't discovered Fox & Turtle yet, you're missing one of the best hidden gems in the area…read more I was genuinely surprised to learn it's open to the public because it feels every bit like an upscale private country club. The outdoor patio overlooking the golf course is absolutely beautiful--relaxing, scenic, and the kind of place that makes you feel like you're on vacation. Even on a busy Thursday evening, the atmosphere was lively without ever feeling hectic. Our server, Jordyn, was outstanding. She looked young, but don't let that fool you--she was completely on top of everything. We were a party of six that couldn't decide what we wanted, laughed way too loudly, and probably tested her patience more than once. She handled us with grace, humor, and a smile the entire time. Somewhere along the way we started calling her "Wednesday" from The Addams Family, and she rolled with it perfectly. Great sense of humor and fantastic service. The food was excellent. The Crispy Eggplant Salad was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and easily large enough to share between two people. The burger was cooked perfectly, the cocktails were outstanding, and everything arrived promptly. The bar staff also deserve a shout-out. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived, made great eye contact, acknowledged everyone immediately, and had drinks in our hands in no time. That's the kind of hospitality that makes people want to come back. Fox & Turtle has the rare combination of great food, attentive service, excellent drinks, and a beautiful setting. It's the kind of place you expect to find inside an exclusive club, yet thankfully it's open for everyone to enjoy. We'll definitely be back.
