What a delectable little ice cream shop! (I shouldn't say little, it's definitely medium-sized, but you catch my drift) Kimmer's is such a cute pink ice cream shop, with classic black and white tile flooring for that old timey feel. It doesn't get more local than them. With a plethora of unique ice cream flavors to pints to bring home to, they really have got all an ice cream shop needs. I especially love their Parent Trap flavor which is cookies 'n cream with peanut butter. I love that you can add toppings too like sprinkles, m&ms, chocolate chips, and much more. It's all super customizable. They also have some gluten free and dairy options which is nice. The staff has always been super friendly; it's usually a younger crowd of workers who are very personable and sweet. I always feel welcomed walking in. I've been to their Wheaton location which is a hit, too, and I do really love this Elmhurst location nestled in downtown Elmhurst. They also have unique daily specials which I saw in-store like their sparkly Wednesdays where you receive a free sparkle cone upgrade if you wear sparkly clothing. What an excuisitely, cute ice cream shop in downtown Elmhurst (right next to the Metra, even more convenien). The inside has a bright, inviting decor that feeels fun and makes you excited for ice cream!!!!! They have a variety of flavors and offer samples. The staff were quite helpful, suggesting fan favorites and letting us all sample, showing extra kindness to my young daughter. We tried the cookies and cream and the cake batter. Both were QUITE delicious, sweet and creamy. It was really hard to decide between the flavors. Who could say no to ice cream? I don't care if it's summer or winter, I'm always craving! This place is located near the tracks by downtown Elmhurst. It's easy to access, and parking is a non-issue. They have a couple chairs on the sidewalk, but it's a little too cold for that heh. Inside, it's bright and colorful. We were greeted immediately and checked in. The staff is super friendly. They have a wide array of ice cream. I chose a two scoop cup of chocolate peppermint and chocolate chip cookie dough. Delicious! Their cone options look awesome. They have plenty of seating inside. My father recently got a power mobility device which allows him to visit shops in Elmhurst again and this is where he wanted to take us all last weekend, a big group of 9 kids and grandkids! The ice cream is amazing, so rich and creamy. The service was super, she really did a beautiful job taking and delivering 9 orders so quickly and accurately. Shop is very cute, bright pink colors, nicely accessible to folks with mobility issues, and plenty of seating for our big group. We loved every minute and we can't wait to return. A must try and try again spot! Kimmers has the old school feel and flavors of an ice cream spot and it's everything delicious and perfect. As soon as my fiancé and I walked in we were greeted with kind smiles by the friendly staff members. They quickly let us know they'd be happy to offer any samples before deciding on what to order. We did sample the blue moon ice cream which was not what I was expecting lol. We opted for the coffee toffee crunch instead and it is sooo good. The texture of the ice cream is creamy, light and yet filling at the same time. The toffee pieces were a bonus for the added texture. A small "Very Pink" ice cream shoppe located in downtown Elmhurst. They offer small batch hand crafted ice cream. All of their ice creams are made in their Wheaton location. Offering over 15 different flavors,it was hard to decide on what to try. I chose the Aztec Hot Chocolate with has a hint of spice from the chile and cayenne peppers mixed with chocolate and cinnamon ice cream. Overall (B+) I would have given this place an A or even an A+ if it wasn't so expensive. Was fortunate to try this place with a Yelp Elite event so I am grateful for that. I had my daughter with me so we had four different flavors and I tried an extra one also. Flavors that I normally don't get like peanut butter and strawberry were awesome. Like I liked them and I would never order those flavors and they blew me away with how good they were. Also I am not a big dessert person - but if this place was closer I may turn into one. The quality is off charts and any time I have a friend who loves ice cream I will bring them here. I am a simple person so got the chocolate and it was excellent. Service (A+) We went on a early Sunday afternoon so it was not busy. The one girl working there was extremely nice and friendly. She quickly got us our ice cream and was clearly well trained. The interior was nice and inviting. So hopefully the service is always like this. Value (C) I normally do not give our such low grades but two scoops of ice cream for $8 is expensive. I get it that the quality is really excellent and the owner has to cover a ton of costs due to the decor, quality and location but it's expensive. Taking out a family of four and dropping $32 on ice cream is going to be a tough sell. Maybe during the last couple of years and maybe the customer base in the. current location but would be surprised when the "soft landing" occurs. Again I completely understand why it would be priced so much but I would strongly recommend a price decrease to increase one and done business to repeat customers. For me it's a try once place because of cost. The quality and service are top notch. It is really really excellent ice cream. But be prepared to spend some $$$s. Definitely check it out. Thanks to Yelp I found this gem that satisfied my sweet tooth! This ice cream shop is conveniently located right off of the Elmhurst metra train station. There's limited free parking on premise. I ended up parking at the garage around the corner. They also have two other locations in the Chicagoland area in St. Charles and Wheaton. Those two locations have their own ice cream maker in house, which is pretty cool. The girl behind the counter was really friendly, efficient and personable. Samples are welcomed and encouraged here which I appreciate. She recommended their seasonal holiday flavor which is the chocolate peppermint stick, and I ended up loving that and the mint chocolate chip. She even gave me a lid for my cup since I didn't finish it. She also scooped me a pint of the chocolate peppermint stick since I wanted to take some home to share with my partner. They have so many different flavors, so the possibilities are endless, and I love how they mention on the flavor sign if it's gluten free etc. Lastly they do have a couple of chairs and tables if you want to enjoy your ice cream there. My ice cream didn't melt on a 30 minute drive home, and that says a lot about their quality. This is definitely a place I'd return to, and I'd recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a local ice cream shop with creative varieties all year round. read more

Due to COVID, we were unable to test some of the flavors. I ordered a kid's double scoop ($5.24) of the Champagne & Strawberries and White Chocolate Salty Oatmeal. First off, I want to say that Kimmer's has all my respect that all of their flavors are homemade! That's a rare find nowadays. The Strawberry Champagne was alright- I think I was missing more of that champagne flavor. I loved the White Chocolate Salty Oatmeal flavor. So much so that when we finished eating our treat in the car, we called in an order to buy the pint version of it ($8.99). We enjoyed it later that night but I will say that it tasted different. The flavor wasn't as strong. Pricing was pretty standard for an ice cream shop but portions were a tad bit on the smaller side. I will say though that purchasing the pint was a more affordable option than the double scoop. The only thing is that it doesn't taste as fresh as the scoop! I was also mildly disappointed that the service was a little lackluster. I wasn't hoping for anything crazy but as soon as we stepped in it felt as if we were disturbing the employee even though there was no one else in the shop. Everyone has rough days so there was no need to say anything but that was partially the reason why we just called in the order instead of coming back down. Overall, we enjoyed our sweet treats at Kimmer's. We'll definitely come back and I look forward to the days when COVID is over when we can try out other flavors! During normal times, we love this cute little ice cream shop. But, I've gotta say, they've done a wonderful job during this pandemic. They now have curbside pickup which is so great. Just give a call when you arrive and they'll take your order out to you. And, if there's something that you want that isn't on their website - definitely give them a call! One of my kiddos is a huge fan of ice cream cakes. What's not to love, right? Well, ice cream cakes are not on their website (ice cream pies are and their ice cream pies are awesome). The first time I visited early this summer we got cones and were happy with the single scoop but sundaes last night were awful. 90% topping and whipped cream. Two inches of caramel at the bottom was crazy, too. Yet none on top? The ice cream at Kimmer's is phenomenal - at both locations... Wheaton and elmhurst. The flavors rotate frequently and all are magical. I must also wholeheartedly recommend their cakes. For the second year in a row they smacked my daughter's birthday cake out of the park. With very little direction (eg just asking them to make a purple fairy bat or a ninja), they added imagination, creativity, and flawless execution. My daughter has been ecstatic and the cakes have been an enormous hit at her parties - with kids and adults alike! Go Kimmer's! HUGE fan!
