I always like to visit this place when I'm in the Panama City area. You know the food will be good when you're the only one speaking English. Lol today I stopped in for a snack before a meeting. I had the flautas, tacos, and a large horchata. I had shredded chicken in my flautas and steak on my tacos. The steak had so much flavor and I loved the cilantro and onions on top of it. This place feels really welcoming. The food tastes great and the service is wonderful. Be careful on what time you are there because sometimes they can get extremely busy at certain times. I would definitely recommend on trying. However, some people only know Spanish ( which is not a bad thing). So if you are not familiar with the language, you may want to bring someone with you. Well it was good while it lasted. However, as happens to many, many establishments, when they become successful their quality diminishes and this I'm sorry to say has happened here! This used to be the best go to secret Mexican restaurant in Bay County, now... not so much! Why? Prices have gone way up! Ok, that in itself is not terrible as we are living in a terrible economy. However along with higher prices has come mediocre food. Their rice and beans used to be superb! Now, no so good :( They used to serve incredible taco's, they're still not bad, but no longer incredible. Very disappointed in what has happened to this restaurant! So based on reviews we were excited to try this place out being from Cali we have high standards. We walked in and got the most awful looks from the patrons and workers. You could easily tell that we were not welcome at all we still ordered. We were charged $35 for some sides and 2 drinks. Didn't want to argue because I was pretty sure we'd get jumped or shot. Being stationed away from home and outside predominantly Hispanic communities, it's been a struggle to find awesome straightforward tacos al pastor. Growing up in El Paso I took for granted the abundance of Mexican food I had around me, now when I really want authentic food like I can get back home, this is the go to. A friend of mine from school brought me here and I can't say enough how much I LOVE THEIR MELON DRINK!! I just wish they had it everyday!! The downside is that since I don't speak spanish its tough for me to make my order. This ain't your local taco bell or burrito del sol place, it's down right home cooked mexican food like my friend's mom would make for us after school! It is delicious! There's also a small market ish corner of the restaurant so if you need to stock up on something they might have it, besides the international calling cards and mexican candies at the counter, the service is always polite, sweet and nice. One of my favorite places in bay county. Authentic. Delicious mexican food. milanesa torta, chorizo tacos with radish, onion, and cilantro, and horchatta, and jamaica to drink. My favorites, but there is much more to try. So thankful for having this shop so close to home, the food is familiar and comforting. They also have items for sale, like my favorite green habanero hot sauce, abuelita, and other specialty mexican ingredients. I really enjoyed my experience at this authentic little market and taqueria. Fortunately for me, the staff spoke decent English the day I visited. As another reviewer mentioned, this really IS a hole-in-the-wall next to a tattoo parlor and "express" cigarette shop. The dining room is a row of stools at the counter. I did eat in, and found the whole experience to be rewarding. I played it safe, with chicken tacos, served simply with onions and cilantro. Also purchased a liter of Mexican Coca-Cola from the market part of the establishment to wash it down. The tacos were fantastic, as as good as any I've had. They were simple, but that was the beauty. I also loved the green tomatillo sauce that accompanied them. The price for tacos, rice & beans, and drink came out to somewhere around $10. Not too bad! This place is definitely a very different and foreign experience to what we are used to in Panama City. I know many of my fellow locals who really shy away from awesome, authentic cuisine like what is served up at La Michoacana (and various other "ethnic" eateries in town) and that's truly a shame. BUT, if you are looking for something different than the crunchy tacos you get at the Tex-Mex places, then this little taste of Mexico might be worth checking out! read more

We have been to this hidden gem twice (so far), both times were amazing! Authentic and delicious as I know (live in San Diego for 12 years). Al pastor taco's with the cilantro, onion and lime were awesome (add some green sauce....O.M.G.!). quesadilla's were just as delicious with that crumbly white Mexican cheese. The last time we went we sat at the bar and had 2 cold beers (modelo and Victoria), I had the spicy shrimp plate (warning...spicy in all the good ways!) They are not shy with the shrimp either (I had leftover for lunch the next day) which is making my mouth water as I type and they left my mouth on fire and lips numb...made me drink my beer faster! Horchata drink is soo good as well, haven't found at other Mexican restaurants or on menus. This very simple , little hole in the wall Mexican immigrant oriented store and taqueria has the real stuff as far as tacos are concerned: carne asada (grilled beef), barbacoa, buche (stomach), tripas (intestines) .. lots of really taste authentic Mexican tacos in soft corn tortillas as they should be.. a real relief since other "Mexican" places in Panama City area are mostly very Americanized "Mexican" food. They also serve ceviche, which I have not yet had a chance to try yet. "Seating" is just a few stools at a simple wooden counter.
