Beautiful park that keeps going and going and going! There are two 18 hole frolf courses that extend over hills, in valleys and even offer a challenging bit throwing/next to a parking lot. There are plenty of trees that make it challenging, and although every hole is listed as a par 3, I sincerely doubt they all are! Beautiful place to spend a few hours throwing some disc. And best of all... completely free and never crowded! read more

I was in LA for work and couldn't pass up the opportunity to try the famous La Mirada DGC. It was everything I expected and more. Beautiful park course with a lake in the middle. Nicely maintained course with good hole instruction on each marker. There's some good elevation changes to make for an interesting round. We played a round on a Saturday morning in mid-March so it wasn't crowded at all. I highly recommend it for any disc golfer in the LA area. read more

2 wonderful courses here: The Lake Course and The Back 18. Both courses are greatly maintained, and every time I've played on a busy day, the other discers are always friendly. It's not uncommon to meet someone new here, get into a round together, and before long you've got a new buddy. There are guys here that play A LOT, and there are guys here who show up just for fun. Everybody I've run into has been nice and courteous. The best part: They're all respectful of the course. It's always clean and very rarely will you find a piece of trash anywhere other than the trash cans. The pro shop is always stocked with cold drinks and snacks, plus a good selection of discs should you feel the need to blow a little more cash! Also, it's FREE! I now always have my disc bag in my trunk, just in case I get a spontaneous urge to go throw 18 (or more often, 36) holes. For the record, the Lake Course is usually more crowded with pedestrians, seeing as how that's the actual "Park" part of this park. The Back 18 is nestled in trees, behind a neighborhood, and around the baseball fields. Both are fun however! read more

A great 18 hole course, with lush grass, scenic view of the park, and a damn ton of trees.... This course took me an 2 friends about 2 hours to get through, it definitely has some of the longer holes I've seen around SoCal courses so it took us a little longer than thought. Also because there's a pond - we lost one disk to the water gods... small price to pay since there isn't a charge for the usage of the course. The tees are nicely labeled and well cared for and the tees are well labeled and solid concrete. You do get close to the street which if you're not too careful you'll lose a disc to a car or get distracted by the cars and people what walk the roads. I'd make this a regular place if it wasn't so dang far! I feel like if Van Nuys Park had a course like this it would be one of the most popular. Their shop is kinda small and they don't have a lot of discs, but they're nice and they have snacks for purchase as well as a restroom near the tennis courts. Enjoy! read more

What a beautiful course. I've been playing this course for quite some time now. I'm hardly the great discer, it's more for fun and minor competition amongst friends (as we compete to bring the cup home or get the every elusive ACE Plaque). I was headed to the gym to play ball on Saturday and what do you know, it was closed (every bball court was shut down Sat morn, go figure). So since I was already in La Mirada and had some discs in my trunk, I decided to enjoy the beautiful day and play 27 holes at LM. I got there and it seemed like quite a few people were already out and about for 9am in the morning. (usually its not too packed there this early). I waited for a 2 man crew in front of me to throw and I threw after they finished hole one. There was 1 guy behind me and he waited for me, but on hole 2 he asked to pair up and man, what a benefit for me that was. This guys name was Curt (I believe), he seemed to know the locals and must play often. We hung together all the way through 14 holes until he stopped to chat with some of his buddies. He was giving me tips throghout all the holes and letting me experiement with different discs of his so I could find a better feel for a disc that's appropriate for my style of driving, mid range & putting. Very thankful for that and this is one of the benefits of such a nice course. People are willing to assist you, offer pointers and be patient with an idiot like myself. The course is mostly par 3 and has enough trees to make them a hazard at times yet plenty of open space to find the right drive and push it through the hazards. you can get a map in the pro shop (which has recently changed owners, a true bummer coz the last dude was so cool and friendly and just been there forever). Beware of the tree after the 5th - 6th hole as they are NOT forgiving on swallowing up your discs and refusing to spit them out, let alone allow you to find it in the tree....lol After you finish the first 18holes, if you slide around towards the north end of the park (north of the pro shop, follow the tennis courts west and then go north) you will find holes 19-27... on a weekend these can get slightly bothered by the visitors to the park, but that's part of the course, right? makes it more fun. All around this a huge course and gives you lots of opportunities to practice, perfect and ruin your shots. hahah If you live in SoCal and have never been here, you're missing out. Enjoy a day out in the sun with your wife/girlfriend, kids, friends, whatever and just throw some. read more

Update... - Some holes on both the front and back 18 have been either removed or altered. Hole 1 on the front 18 now has a legit tee pad in front of the tree just past the tennis courts...now making the hole pretty easy to birdie. Hole 18's basket has been moved maybe 80 feet forward. Hole 1 and 2 on the back 18 have been removed and holes 7 and 15 have been split into two to make up for 1 and 2 being taken out. I guess there were issues of people being hit by discs which lead to the alterations, yet holes 11 and 12 remain in play...even if hitting cars and possibly people is likely. My star reduction is due to hole 1 on the back being removed. One of the funnest holes to play on the back is gone...kind of sucks. read more

My limited experience tells me though that this particular course has some additional hazards... - Ducks cruising through the course - Lots of pedestrian traffic - The course is very close to residential roads Holes could be a little more clearly identified as well.... definitely not my favorite course to date. read more

This is my favorite course in SoCal for so many reasons. 36 holes - 2 courses split in half offering two different levels of play. The back 18 is more of a pro level with long distance pins, rolling grassy hills, big bushy seasoned pines with a par 4 or two and technical as well. The only down fall is it is a regional park so you may get people from time to time sitting in the way but that's about it. You can come play a quick 18 (which by its self is worth it. I would stand the first 18 holes at La Miranda against a lot of courses. Great layout. So come out and see for yourself b/c you're missing out. read more

I was expecting bigs things from this course - as a newcomer to the LA scene it was regarded as the best in the area. And while it may not be what many locals want to hear, it is. The course is well layed out with a nice variety of hyzers, anhyzers & rollers, but the course is altered to basically a whole new course for championship golf. So if you want to play the course the pros play on the tour, you've got to play around that time. The everyday course is nothing to sneeze at - nicely manecured course, technical shots, slight elevation change, benches & a great pro-shop to check out some vintage discs or buy new ones. Anther factor for the course is that it's played on a very busy public park, which causes delays and has you shooting at baskets with roads in the background. Better than Chavez ridge, Huntington & El Dorado, this course is worth playing if you're in LA read more

I went with the bf to play Disc Golf a couple weeks ago since I stumbled upon the sport during a company picnic a couple weeks ago. It looked like fun and I thought it would be great to walk around the park to enjoy the serene lake and environment at the same time. It is free to play but you have to rent frisbees or discs if you do not have your own (the rental store is located right behind the tennis courts in the tennis shop). The rentals are only $3 but they will make you pay for replacements if you lose them. I don't know if it was pure bad luck or what but we ended up losing two of these rental discs towards the third hole of our game. One was lost in the lake and the other fell into a gutter. The woman we rented the discs from was NOT happy. We eventually figured that we probably weren't meant to play the game and paid for the replacements and left. I will probably go back to play again but I'll def bring my own discs next time. read more

I'll bet this is a great course to play under the right conditions but today it too wet from overwatering. Virtually every tee box was a hazard and the mud on a number of fairways made footing a major issue. Somebody in the recreation department needs to pay better attention. I'll try the front course another time, probably in the afternoon. Hopefully this wasn't an everyday problem. read more

I used to love love LOVE this course until the park went to hell. The pro shop got taken over by tennis enthusiasts so they don't provide a map for the back 18. Hole 1 and several others are often obstructed by picnickers. They added a water-park in between the front and back courses which forced some minor changes to the original and pro circuit course designs. Parking isn't usually a problem unless the park is jam-packed like it was last week. However, I still like this course. It has a wide variety of challenging shots including a few holes that have a treacherous lake hazard. The back 18 used to be really good, but ever since the water park was added it just hasn't been the same. There are some really good up and down shots and at least one really tough mandy. Even if you have good stamina, a 36 hole course like this one will put you to the test. I don't go here weekly like I used to but I still go occasionally and I still recommend this course. To avoid the picnickers and the traffic, I recommend you don't go on a weekend. The world champion course design here is maybe the best I've ever seen played. If you like to bring brewskies or have a smoke when you visit the park, watch out for the mounted police who will promptly trot right up and write you a ticket (as they did to both Pedro and Dan in 2011, lol). If you're a gangster with a parole violation, the patty wagon will arrive out of nowhere and take you to jail (no joke, they're everywhere). This park is really good if you're bringing the whole family. They have great picnic areas, a decent water-park, accessible baseball diamonds, plenty of tennis courts, handball courts, a duck pond, and even a full regular golf course. They also have an indoor basketball / volleyball court and plenty of space for setting up your own badminton, volleyball, or soccer game. It's in a nice neighborhood too. read more

Great place for disk golf, shop is super helpful. Lake side of the course has a lot of people walking around the holes so that can get pretty annoying but the course on the other side is usually empty. I live down the street and have been missing out on this place for a long time. read more
