Rio Hondo is a solid choice golf course. Green conditions are pretty nice. I visited on a Tuesday right after a tournament, there were carts everywhere in the entrance but I suppose to be expected. The greens are honestly the highlight here because they are pretty nice and well maintained. While some recent reviews warned about a glacial pace of play, things moved along at a decent clip during my round. You do have to be careful with the layout since some fairways cross back toward each other quite closely. My golf cart actually took a direct hit from a stray ball, so please remember to yell fore if there's even a slightest chance if its going to come near others. The staff is generally friendly and the facilities feel clean. Even though the rates are a bit higher than other courses around the overall quality makes it a fair value for the experience.

We golfed on a Tuesday. The day before they had a tournament and had yet to clean up the trash.

This is a great course for the price they charge, which is a rarity these days, but there are a couple huge negatives that are really holding it back from being one of the top public courses in Los Angeles County. The most egregious is pace of play. It's inexcusable that a Thursday morning round should go over five hours, without a marshall in sight. And I know there was a marshall, because I saw him driving around the clubhouse when I arrived. The tee boxes were also a disaster. Dead and patchy grass, dirt, and uneven ground on pretty much every hole from the blue tees. I don't need perfection, but you should do better than that.

#7 Par 3 water hole

Sorry, but its mediocre week after MDW. I played this course in Downey w/ a couple of business associates. The price is reasonable, and the holes are challenging. However, there are several reasons why I can't give more than 3 Stars. First of all, the first two holes are basically the same hole. In addition, on the first nine holes you have back to back par 5's and par 3's. Most course designers space the variety of holes out so you hit different clubs on each hole: That is what makes the course interesting. Secondarily, the fairways have lousy grass. You are not rewarded for hitting your tee shot straight. Lastly, the pace of play is slow. They did not pair two twosomes ahead of us. It made more sense to pair them so we were not waiting on every hole. Don't get me wrong: This course is much better vs Montebello. Nonetheless, there are some nuances that were not to my liking.

What an enjoyable golf course. Narrow, challenging fairways lead to great greens. The traps are meticulously maintained and are wonderful to hit out of. Kudos to the course maintenance crew for keeping this gem of a course in top shape.. played 18 holes in 4.5 hours, fantastic

Tee time was at 1:30, teed off at 2. Didn't finish the front 9 until 5. Not including the 5 man made lakes on most of the fairways.

Course is beautiful and challenging for it's price. Pace of play is always an issue. Expect 5 hours. Would give 4.5 if I could.

The place has been around quite some time and kids do tend to make a mess, but they keep up after it. Parking is for a fee, but sometimes you get a game card that comes with the parking. It can get crowded in the summer and on weekends. We go on week days and have been several times. Now, the prices in here add up fast so be mindful of that, but it is the same as other similar places. Miniature golf is about 16$, a go kart is about 12$, the arcade can really add up so get a card that you can use for the wide variety of games they have. The bumper boats and Disk Thrill Ride are about 12$ per person. We love their little train and that is about 5$. You can get a two hour wrist band and we do that and save a lot that way. All in all the prices are fair. The service there is nice and the place has a lot to offer, you don't have to do it all. There is a lot to do. They also have Birthday Parties there and that is great. It is super fun.

Overall not consistent. The food we shared was quite good. Fries were crispy , wings are good, nachos are good. I enjoyed the sliders as well. There wasn't really any explanation of the different game modes, pretty much had to have one of my coworkers that went before explain, as well as how to stand and swing. Another thing was that we were not able to add more time (others were going to occupy the space?) I don't know how I feel about that. There are over 3 levels of bays. Anyways besides a few things I did have a good time, and would recommend to try it if you haven't. Until next time

I was excited to try my new golf clubs that I recently received as a gift. I was taught by the people I came with. Provisions to basic fundamentals about etiquette when playing at a golf course. I felt comfortable because there was not alot of people that were hitting golf balls at the range at this particular location This place is affordable and has plenty of slots to practice your golf swing. Clean and secluded. Definitely coming back to practice. Bring your own beverages at this location, you will need it, this sport is exhausting lol. Nice ambiance and chill down here. The only thing I did not like is when the PA speaker told some kids to hurry up. I am learning, but I am pretty sure this was normal business. Hurry up and hit. Received 4 buckets in total

Our friend broke a club here and the policy at the time was that the rentee had to pay for the price of a brand new club even though they were renting a used club. after voicing my opinion, they decided to change the policy and agreed that people who break a rental club should just pay for the value of a used golf club.
