Lots & lots of improvements at Pico Rivera Golf club. Range looks awesome with all shaded mats, solid putting green, as well as re-done pro shop & Bar area. Course is very green with new mats and better maintenance crew cutting the grass. Pico also is affiliated with SCGA Jr Golf so they have great programs in place for kids, as well as, (YOC) SCGA discounts for Jr Golf members.

Last second twilight golf is always a chill time with friends. Got a bar feel at the club house with cornhole and music blasting. Not the usual, but seemed chill, good vibes started off strong but ended quick after the first hole. First hole was promising, but onward....it seemed to be the only maintained hole? Greens were unplayable. Fairways were full of divots and gopher holes. You could easily sprain your ankle if you're not careful. I wouldn't bring a beginner here, you may think a new beginner could still have fun here and practice before attempting a big course but this would probably discourage them from ever playing golf again. The moment the ball lands, it's not rolling... it will sit in a hole/divot. Used light up LED balls, bc didn't want to lose a ball. The course lighting was good enough...but still lost the LIGHT UP LED ball into a deep gopher hole. Nice wild life here, frogs and ducks in the water features and pack of coyotes howling in the not so far distance...after your tee off. The other golfers I did interact with weren't exactly friendly...Maybe not their fault?.. maybe they were as disappointed as I was. Anyways, this is the first blacklisted course collectively agreed amongst my friends.

The ONLY good hole (they most likely keep It up because it's the only one you can see when you walk in)

Greens Destroyed, Uncut fairways, old barely useable range mats as tee boxes, by far the worst course I've played. This course used to be good and kept up and can easily be worth 5 stars but they let it go to waste.

Can't beat this spot for awesome bacon burgers, fries and a cold drink after a quick round. Casual and laid back.

You can't beat the bacon burgers here at the Pico Rivera golf course. It's a casual local spot for a quick round of 9 holes and delicious burger with a drink, friendly generous bartender and cook are the best!

Hole 2. Horrible!!!! I have never seen this. Disgusting.

Very Disappointed. Not Sure how management is maintaining the grounds, but something really needs to be done. The greens have never, ever been this bad. Makes me not want to come back or recommend it to anyone one of my friends. I was also not happy to hear that Drew was no longer employed. I learned to play and love the game because of him. Not only was he my instructor but we became very good friends. New Management has not made any improvements nor have they done anything to make it intriguing to captivate attraction.

He took the time to walk me through the fundamentals step by step, and what really stood out to me was how he explained not just the how, but the why behind each movement. His ability to break down the physics of the swing in a clear, easy-to-understand way made a huge difference in how quickly I was able to grasp the basics. Beyond that, he's consistently positive and encouraging--especially when I get frustrated. He's quick to remind me to have fun and enjoy the process, which has helped me stay motivated. Every session is well-structured, and he always follows up with drills and a practice plan so I know exactly what to work on between lessons. Even outside of our sessions, he's responsive and generous with his time. I've texted him questions I forgot to ask during our lessons, and he always replies with helpful advice. If you're looking for an instructor who's not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in your progress, I can't recommend Nowndale enough.

I love the fact that the lessons are indoor and has cameras so that he can show me and I can see what I need to change and work on. AND there's free parking !! Something I was worried about with getting lessons was not getting my money's worth. Sometimes instructors can be very chatty and I don't feel like I'm getting an actual full hour's worth of a lesson. If that is something you're concerned about, please consider Nowndale! Every time I come in for a lesson, it is jam packed with information and practice time. He really focuses on the lesson and your improvement. I feel very comfortable asking him questions (even if they feel silly) and he'll kindly answer and help me understand. I really have nothing negative to say. I have had 5 lessons and each one has been a very positive experience. I still have a lot to learn, but I can definitely say I have improved a lot since starting lessons.

He is very detailed about understanding the basic and theories of swing so my swing can be repeatable. It is like breaking down the "physics" of golf by bits and having you to understand why each bit is important for a good swing. A little note form my lesson today: Gear 1: body Gear 2: arms Gear 3: hand and clubs - They should be lock, unlock, lock OR unlock, lock, unlock. NO 2 connecting locks or unlocks. Stage 1: gear 2 movement, gear 1 and 3 lock. Make sure the swing up is above the plane (or above "water level") then swing down plane. Armpit is connected to the body and not loose, loose of arm and body will cause gear to loosen up. Stage 2: arm swing with hip movement finish; or 3 quarter swing. Starts with stage 1, finish with hip rotation forward, left hip on top of ankle (weight forward). And slight head tilt.

As I continued with him, each lesson got more layered and confusing. I felt I was learning a tour level swing and it shouldn't be this complicated. At the end of the lessons, there was never any game plan. Just a "keep working on it", which didn't feel sincere, and he moved onto the next student. All the teachers there are in the $120-$150 range so it's not cheap. Spend your money wisely, and don't go for lessons every week. It also takes time and reps to get what you learned. I feel that was part of the problem, and was not stopped.
