Every so often I like to take a break from the acrylic tips and get a manicure instead. I went to LA Nails and had such a great experience last year I decided to go back again. The mistake I made was not asking for Kay like I told you all to do in my previous review. This time around I had an older gentleman that was not focused on customer satisfaction. The pedicure was fine which is why I gave the two star rating but the manicure was horrible. He decided to pry the tips off as opposed to soaking them off. I didn't mind as one of my nails had split and I was afraid it would burn if soaking in acetone. The entire time he kept saying "too thick" in reference to the tips which was annoying me. Then when he was done with one hand brought over a bowl with hot water and told me to put my hand to soak in it. Then when he was done with the next hand proceeded to tell me to add that hand to the bowl. I had to request fresh hot water be placed in bowl before I would dip my hand. He was so rough he pricked my nail bed and I was bleeding. I said something and he just kept on working with no attempts to relieve the pain or clean up the blood. He barely tried to shape my nails and did a piss poor job painting my nails. When I said something he told me it was because my nails were weak. The strength of my nails has nothing to do with how you paint them. Some fingers he started right at the cuticle others he left a gap between the cuticle and where the polish starts and my nails were not shaped uniformly. I will never return but if you do don't get serviced unless you ask for Kay. Apparently she is the only one that knows what she's doing. read more

Despite the poor reviews, I still decided to go here, which was a bad decision. When I entered this establishment, a lady greeted me and asked me what I wanted. I told her a pedicure. She asked "what?"and I repeated a pedicure. I was immediately seen and asked to pick a color. While there were a lot of color options, they were still limited(there was a lot of colors they did not have, like peach). They also did not have OPI, which is a trusted nail color brand. When I sat in the chair, I asked for the spa pedicure but was willing to pay the price to have a glass of wine because my husband and son was waiting for me outside and I did not want to take too long while they waited. I opted for the spa pedicure which was $47+$12(for gel) but told the male servicing me I would pay the $63+$12(for gel) amount just to have a wine with my service. He then spoke his native language to another lady, assuming he did not understand me, and she stated I could not have wine unless I had the service although I was willing to pay the service price. After finding out I could not enjoy the luxury of enjoying my pedicure with a glass of wine, I downgraded to the basic pedicure with gel polish, which was $35+$12. When the male started the service, I had a little gel polish left on my big toes. His technique for getting the polish off was drilling it off, although it's incorrect. The proper way includes slightly sanding the gel to remove the oil & shine then applying acetone with cotton and letting it sit. He then proceed to saw at my big toe nail as he filed. Before I came, I already cut and shaped my nail and let him know. While filing, I told him that was unnecessary and since he made it uneven, I asked him to file it myself. As I filed my toe myself, I showed him the proper technique that is safer for the nail bed and does not hurt. We then moved on to the other foot, where he tried to again drill off my polish. I went ahead and asked for the nail file again, he gave it to me and I sanded the polish a little and asked for acetone. He poured acetone on my bare toe nail with no cotton so I instructed him to grab the cotton. He then asked me "do u know how to do nails?" I answered "yes". He said "why don't you do your own nails?" I said "you want me to do my own nails?" He said "yes" then I said ok and he proceeded to pull up the chair arm, I wiped my own feet with his towel, that was extremely wet for me to have not used it by the way, and left the establishment. I'm glad I didn't allow him to butcher me because I could see that's where this was going. read more

I have been a long standing customer following a nail tech from a previous location. I called on April 4th for an April 25th appointment for 2 pedicures, 2 eyebrow waxing, 1 full set and 1 gel manicure. When I got there the owner acted dumbfounded (like I didn't make an appointment and received a reminder) as to what services I was receiving. My daughter got in the chair with a male nail tech who decided to give her a design that she didn't ask for. I got my pedicure, manicure and eyebrows done and my daughter was still getting her nails done. Once finished (I voiced my concern about the unwanted design) she got her eyebrows done and then they forgot she was getting her feet done. They proceeded to sit her in a chair for 20 minutes to let her feet soak u til someone became available. After 20 minutes I got my daughter together and got rung up. My total was $177. I noticed when I got home that they charged me $191. I called and voiced my concerns with them and told them I will never be back! Well...I was hoping for great relaxing time, i waited 1.5 hour for this service. I am not sure how she finished the entire service in 15 minutes. I am not sure how you can get callaus removal treatment with pedicure and be done with polish in 15 minutes. She did poor job cleaning and messaging foot to the point I asked her are you done? She didn't let the hot towel cool down. She just wiped and was done with it. Brought only one towel for two feet. It was poor . I could have done this home. I didn't need this. Giving 2 stars for convenience and appearance of the shop. That's the good. The bad -- I went for a pedicure and left with a bleeding toe because of damage that was done to my cuticle. The nail tech didn't even apologize for injuring me or do anything to stop the bleeding! Maybe he's new at this. I can't comment on the skills of the other nail techs as I've never been there before. I was a first-time customer. Gel pedicure was done very well. I think it was Lisa who went the extra mile to do a very nice pedicure and great massage. Great price. The salon is clean. There were a couple young girls in the salon and they did not do my pedicure. However, one of the young ladies did my gel fill. I wanted them thin and they are not. It's been one week and they're already chipping. I don't know if it's cheap polish, cheap product but they're not lasting. My nails are growing out and the thickness looks worse. Worst Pedicure Ever!! I made an appointment for my friend and I at 2:30pm. Both our pedicures were done by 2:45pm. My friends looked horrible. If I could give a zero I would! The WORST manicure I've EVER had in my life!!! This was a plain manicure for $16. She didn't ask what shape I wanted, and started to make them pointy. She cut me, I was bleeding, with cuticle sisccors. NO cuticle oil used or hand lotion!!! Didnt even push cuticles back on right hand, or an alcohol pad to clean...only the left hand had that treatment. My nails were filed uneven, SLANTY, and sooo raggity. I have been here three times now and I have been pleasantly surprised each time. I get the shellac (gel) manicure and they do a great job not only in the polish but they safely remove my previous polish in a way that doesn't damage my nail or skin. Most places I have been to usually file it off or soak my whole hand in acetone which makes my nails weak and break later on but they listen and actually gave me tips and advise on how to keep my nails healthy! The polish they use is top quality it doesn't chip or break days later like so many others do. I have been getting gel polish for years now never have I gone past 3 weeks without breaking a nail or have chunks of my polish missing. Underarm Waxing Gone Terribly Wrong. I went to the location on Linglestown Road in Blue Mountain Shopping Center. The shop manager and a technician she was training; started to perform waxing under my right underarm. I felt the manager putting on alot of wax. She ripped the waxing strip off and I felt bleeding. Lots of bleeding. She obviously had wax on skin that had no hair so it ripped the skin off. It was so bad they had to treat it to stop it from bleeding. I've been getting my underarms waxed for years. I had my underarm waxed a month ago by Lisa at this location with no problem. This time it was a nightmare. I will never ever have any services done here. I was badly injured. I took pics of the technicians and my cut underarm. I texted the pics to the owner. She did nothing. Yesterday I had my 2nd visit to LA Nails, next to the Giant on Linglestown Road. I was pleased with my first visit on Christmas Eve. I had a woman do my manicure. Yesterday, 'Andy' did my manicure and it is awful. There is polish all over my skin, he didn't completely cover the nail with the 2nd coat so there are lines on my nails where the 2 layers meet, and the polish is already chipping. I am debating as to whether or not I should go back and have my nails redone. Their policy is no refunds, but they will redo the service within 3 days. I hope I kept my receipt. read more

My husband and I just walked into LANails and had the best pedicure we ever had in Harrisburg. It took her 55 minutes and we will definitely return. A pleasurable experience.
