    Mini bandeja
    Shashi R.

Good place for Colombian food. Their chorizo is excellent. Mini bandeja gives you everything on a platter and it also comes with beans. The rice absorbs all the flavor making it awesome. I ordered for pickup and it was ready on time when I got there.

When you think Colombian food in New York your first thought is often Jackson Heights or Corona, Queens. But I'm lucky enough to have a great local Colombian eatery a few blocks away from my house in Flushing, Queens. La Nueva Amistad is a local mom and pop restaurant that's serving up some of the most authentic Colombian dishes at unbeatable prices. Pictured is their "Mini" Bandeja Paisa - Rice, Beans, Plantain, Avocado, Steak, Chicharron and Chorizo - all for only $13. Amazing food at insanely low prices, what more could you want? Don't forget to wash it all down with a Postobon.

Different listed prices on dine-in menu, online, and what you are actually charged. But the food is good.

Review from a Hispanic person who grew up in Jackson Heights (little Colombia): Food: 4/5 Customer Service: 5/5 (dine-in) Pricing information: 1/5 The food and customer service here is great. Very respectful and accommodating. What I have a problem with is their pricing model - prices are different on every single menu and if you dine-in you will be in for a surprise because menu items suddenly change prices from what is listed on the physical menu. These prices are also different from what is listed online. I understand that inflation and supply chain issues have led to many businesses increasing their prices but legally you have to sell for the listed price. This was not the case for my visit and I was only informed of their price change after the bill came, their response: "we had to raise the prices of everything one dollar but we have so many menus we didn't want to throw them out." Fair enough, but this makes the customer feel lied to and more importantly, it is illegal. I really, truly wanted to give this local spot a good review because the food is delicious but the pricing issue left a bad taste in my mouth.

When I first moved to Flushing from Woodhaven, I was concerned that I wouldn't have local access to delicious Colombian food anymore. I was proven wrong by La Nueva Amistad, located less than 5 minutes from home on a strip of mostly Asian restaurants and cafes. Their food is excellent and the service is great - I am a huge fan of their bandejas, fruit shakes, and anything that comes with their champinones sauce! They're surprisingly open on most holidays, and for the best experience I recommend dining in rather than ordering delivery.

    55. Empanadas

I ordered a few days ago from here for take out, I was super excited to try them out. There isn't many other Colombian places around ... I ordered 3 empanadas and Chichaarrón as well as two bottled drinks that came out to a total of 18. To me it was definitely a bit pricey but I don't mind paying whatever the price is as long as I like what I get. Let me tell you I hate to do this, but I wouldn't want someone going out of their way to get food here and be disappointed. The empanadas literally were all dough and potatoes maybe one or two chunks of beef. The chicken empanadas same as well all potatoes. If you're going to be charging what your charging at least put more than one or two pieces of the meat filling it's supposed to be, or call it a potato empanada. The only reason I give two stars is because the guy at the counter was super nice and the chicharron.

It's my birthday tomorrow so my coworker wanted to buy me some lunch. He suggested Colombian and I was like, why not!! I got the calentado con carne, huevos, y chorizo (mixed rice and beans, steak, eggs, and sausage)-- and it was AMAZING!!! The mixed rice and beans was nice and hot and flavorful, topped with veggie scrambled eggs, with a nice, fat chunk of sausage on the side, and little pieces of steak (which was okay). I loved the sweet touch of a plaintain in the bowl as well. Honestly, it was sooooo worth it for the lunch special of only $12! I would definitely recommend rationing the meal; however, the portion is hugeee and I had the biggest food coma ever.... The only reason why I took off one star was because I felt like they only put a few pieces of steak and wayyy too much rice hahaha. But, hey overall this is a nice and affordable spot to go when you're craving Colombian food!

Steak, Potato salad, Chicken soup - lunch special.

I came here for the lunch special. I believe it was $7 for steak or chicken leg with potato salad, salad, and soup. The chicken soup was decent, nothing rememberable though. The steak I ordered was thin and lifeless; in fact I could barely choke it down. Potato salad had odd chunks of hot dogs in there. And the salad, well I barely remember it. It seems to be the only Spanish place in the area, so I guess they win some points here. I really was hoping for the food to be good.... too bad

Bandeja Montañera - a thin grilled steak, chicarrones or fried pork skin, chorizo, rice, beans, fried egg, an arequipa, avocado.

This place appears as a bakery, foremost, but it also features full Colombian continental fare - roast chickens on turnstiles behind the counter for one, which itself has a glass display case full of cookies and pastries and other Colombian food items. Feeling quite hungry, I wanted a comprehensive platter - and ordered the Bandeja Montañera (Mountaineer's) for $13 over the Bandeja Tipica (Typical, $11). Both items on the menu listed similar items - a grilled top round steak I believe, chicarrones or fried pork skin, chorizo sausage, rice, beans, a fried egg, an arequipa corn cake and a sliced avocado. I asked the server what the difference was, and she said that it was simply the quantity. For $2 more I figured I'd get a better value. I had Colombian food before and this was nothing to complain about at all. The steak is a thin and slightly tough cut, but that's to be expected in a Colombian Bandeja Tipica, and was still flavorful. The rice and beans were savory, and the chicharron, if one can pardon the sinfulness of deep-fried crispy pork skin with the fat on, was to die for. It was crunchy, crispy, and very satisfying. The chorizo was just spicy enough - not overwhelmingly spicy like other Italian or Spanish sausages are - it was soft and one could tell the complete chunks of meat in there. The arepa was a bit tough and dry, but again, that's what I expected in a bandeja tipica. The avocado was just like a fresh decent avocado should be. I could not finish this dish and took nearly half of it home for my dinner. Service was friendly. The place is small, modest and clean, it feels like a little family bakery with a few tables.

Eh. They scam you with the amount of rice they serve. You're basically paying for rice only.
