My family and I took out food from here yesterday. The food was tasty, fresh and the best I've eaten in a long time. There was a line outside of folks waiting to enter to purchase Latino food. The line consisted of all races of people which was applauded. The fish, arroz con gandules and mixed steamed vegetables were so good.Food is fresh; prepared by 2 older women behind the counter. They also sell freshly made organic juices. My niece had a juice which she loved. The juices cost more than some of the food choices but that's ok.. The servings are plentiful and fresh. The seasoning is good and not a lot of salt. We tipped the cooks who were so busy multi-tasking. This spot is ok. Not horrible but not that good either. My boyfriend comes here all the time for lunch since it is close to his job and the prices are not too high. I have tried their lasagna which is not good, the pasta was very soft and the sauce wasn't good. Their rice and beans are pretty good. I really do like when they have the fried fish and chicharrón. Their sweet plantains are also tasty. The attitude of the ladies serving the food is pretty awful and they just want to rush you out. I feel like I don't even have time to decide what I want. I went on a weekday afternoon and the place easily felt packed with only 5 patrons inside. You go up to the buffet station and order and pay in the way out. We got their roast chicken (best thing we ordered), stewed chicken, fried fish (was a bit dry) and bacalao. Each of the protein came with rice (white, yellow, beans and rice) and we added on plantains, yucca and corn. If you go during lunch you get an option to add on drink or salad - they were completely out of salad when we went. The food was decent for the price, which ranges from $10-15. read more

8/17/24. Tiny hole in the wall take out place. Ordered a beef empanada and a relleno (meat stuffed mashed potato ball). Both could have used more meat. The meal of pernil and chicken stew came with rice, beans and sweet plantains (also included is a soda or tiny side salad). The meats were juicy, prices are fair and the entree is plentiful. Garlic sauce is tasty also. Now, to my delight, there was a super friendly young man who took my order. This is a HUGE contrast to my previous visits. Got sick when ordering take out from here. The beef stew (Res Guisada) gave both me and my spouse a stomach ache. There was not enough of the side portions and they gave us a missing side portion which we had paid for. Will not revisit this establishment again. Heard good reviews about this place so I joined the wagon. Please note that it is a take out place only. I came here today to buy their famous rice and beans, not the meal, simply rice as per request by my family. We are doing bbq today to enjoy the remaining nice day ( probably the last ) before it starts getting cold. I bought 4 containers to take out. That's how much I want it. Additionally I bought the rotisserie chicken and plantain as well. We were not disappointed with the rice. I find their chicken a bit dry but flavorful. The plantain was good. Didn't expect much but it seemed to have good reviews. The entire menu isn't available through Seamless but I wanted delivery so I used their services. Ordered their whole chicken twice so far and it's pretty good. Seasoned nicely, not ridiculously salty. Pernil is also not too salty, nor greasy. We ordered the steak sandwich expecting it to have plaintains instead of a roll so that was pretty disappointing. It was really plain, no sauce, just lettuce and tomatoes on a roll with a slice of American cheese... not what I expected since I saw a pic on Yelp with Patacones. We walked into this place on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. There was no one else in the restaurant and thought we would give it another shot having been there once before. We asked for a 4 top as the tables are small and the server said I can't, it is against the rules. We asked to speak to the manager and the server said he was not there. We said the restaurant was empty and one of us had a disability. The server said, sorry. We were quite polite and after he refused, we had to leave. If this is the way we were treated before sitting down, why bother? Their customer service deserves a -10 and the stupidity of the situation was beyond reason. read more

We end up ordering chuleta frita with pepper and onions, with yellow rice and plantains, pernil with yuca and rice, cause i need my double starch and stewed chicken with plantains and yellow rice. Went here on August 6,2020 to try their mofongo. Location: Right off Springfield Blvd. hard to find parking at times so keep that in mind. There is a bus stop right near to restaurant if you don't have a car. Interior: This place is tiny! You basically go inside (if you can safely fit due to covid rules) place your order and then wait outside. I'm not sure how it works in the winter or bad weather. Food: The mofongo is made to order so be smart and order ahead because it takes 20 minutes or stand outside and read like I did. It's been a while since I've had mofongo so I'm bot the mofongo expert. I would say this was a bit drier than I bargained for. The gravy provided helps immensely. The portion size was enough for me to eat in two meals. It should be noted that I don't eat starches that often so that could be why it was two meals for me. I would like to try this again in a place where I sit down and eat it so I can compare the quality. Service: There's a bit of a language barrier if you call on the phone and have out of the ordinary questions. In the restaurant the communication skills are barebones so it's best to know what you want and not have detailed questions. That being said, everyone was very nice. Overall: I will try them again. We got four take out dishes for lunch (as seen in the photo) and was astounded that all this food cost $36 and it included 4 sodas. Wow! The shop had a steady stream of customers while we were there. It's a small cafeteria style place- you walk in and can see all the different dishes laid out. There were 4 or 5 lovely ladies behind the glass, all donning masks and fulfilling your order. The empanada was ok. The plate was pretty flavorful. The issue was there were several tiny chicken bones. Had to be real careful when chewing... Could be pretty dangerous especially for kids. My family and I and a few friends went on separate occasions and all had the same experience and the same thought of this restaurant first The food is ok, I think it's expensive for the type of food they serve and I order a Morí soñando and they charged me $10.00 and if you don't like your food all mixed in together and want your beans separated from your food they also charge you extra. The restaurant is very crowded it's like everything inside is on top of you and it's does not look like a clean place you want to order any food from. Went there 4:30pm, oxtail all gone except scraps. Got pork ribs, roast chicken and pernil along with empanadas. Food meticulously prepared, carefully packed and generous servings too. Full of good flavor and meats were tender juicy and spicy expertly done. Three plates, four of us couldn't finish it all. All the dishes were just excellent. One thing that would help distinguish this place from other Hispanic restaurants would be the service. I don't know if it was a considerably busy Saturday or the employees were just having a bad day but after ordering online for pick up, my wife and I had to wait 10 minutes inside after already waiting 30 minutes for them to prepare the food. I told the host that we were picking up an online order and she just told us to wait at the front, which turned into watching 3 people order their food, be served, and leave. And 1 person pick up an online order that came in after us. Then I was asked what was the name on our order and they picked my bag off the counter that had been sitting there since we came in. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to discrimination but this isn't one of those times. From my estimation, they flat out served half the line of people waiting to make an order before even looking at us, all because we didn't speak their language or come from where they're from. If there's another reason, I'm not seeing it. On top of that, they didn't have one of the items we ordered and just substituted it without asking us if we wanted it.
