Ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised! The food was really good (remember, I'm not a picky eater so if I ever say something is not good, RUN) and came out in a timely manner. We ordered the Cadillac margarita while waiting. THIS THING IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD AND VERY SCARY SMOOTH!! All in all we were satisfied and will be back. Our waitress was very knowledgable as well. The atmosphere is "ok" to be honest. This place is horrible. The service sucks and the food isn't worth getting aggravated over the horrible service. We had to ask 3 times for napkins and when we finally got them, they would only give us beverage napkins. I got the chimichanga, it was the same price as every other chimichanga I've ever had, except it was half the size of every other chimichanga I've ever had. They call the hot dogs in the charro beans "sausage", this place is a joke. We had to ask for silverware, when that should be the first thing on the table. My daughters quesadilla was only two pieces after the server completely forgot about it and didn't even bring it out with the rest of our food. Huge disappointment. I was hesitant at first, because I'd never been before, but I'm glad I decided to check them out. I think I just found my new favorite place for authentic Mexican food. I had the carnitas-they were great! Homemade flour tortillas, I ate till I couldn't eat anymore and still had a to go box full enough for a whole other meal. I have been here a few times and love the food, in the past had great wait staff and customer service, tonight I am just flabbergasted by how the Manager on duty chose to handle an issue with my order. I ordered a pork tamale for $2.75 and a few other things, when I went to eat it, it was freezing cold, so, continued to eat the rest of my meal, by the time our waitress came back to check on us, I was about done eating and just wanted the tamale taking off my order. This is when my evening turned from good to ridiculous over this minor issue; the Manager came over to inform me I should have told them sooner and they would have given me another one and that she can not and will not take the item off my ticket, even though it was obvious we were done eating. Instead of really doing something to take care of the customer, she wanted to argue her point and I felt was being really petty, inmature and rude in her manner, and she continued to tell me what I should have done again and really wanted to argue the point with me, when I didn't want another one at that time. I firmly explained to her I am the diner and will not argue this point with her and to tell the Owners this is a poor choice of policy in handling customer complaints of this nature. She could have offered us a rain check, a dessert or so many other options to have a customer leave happy and satisfied with their dining experience. Instead , I left pissed off, ruining my meal and attitude over this nonsense so with shame on you and just shaking my head in an oh wow! I Will Not Be Back and will be sure to Tell Everyone I know about this experience. I told you I didn't want to argue with you or be told that I should have asked the waitress sooner for the order to be corrected and ruin my dinner due to poor customer service, Poor form and judgement by this Manager. read more

We came in from Fort Polk to run some errands in town. This food was the closest to authentic that we would eat in El Paso that we've tried in LA. I had the enchiladas suizas and they were delicious as well as the rice and beans. My husband had the tacos and they were good too. We had some guacamole as an appetizer and it was good. I asked about 4 different shrimp entrees and not one of them came with basic Mexican toppings or condiments like Pico di gallo (which they charge an additional $2.45 for) or sour cream. My taco consisted of 4 grilled shrimp, a pinch of shredded lettuce and 5 little cubes of diced tomatoes with a teaspoon full of shredded cheese. NEVER AGAIN! The chips and salsa were good, queso was good. The entrees were not so great. I had a cheese enchilada and a chicken enchilada. The chicken in the enchilada was not seasoned at all and it tasted like reheated chicken. My niece had the chicken tacos and they had seasoning, but were just mediocre. My family went to celebrate our granddaughter graduation. When we b When we ordered it took too long to come. We had 10 people there and when I got my bill I noticed a gratuity on the bill. They said there was 10 people and they charge this to all bills. I and the rest of the party had out own bill. I had not seen a sign to reflect this gratuity anywhere in the restaurant and wasn't told about this. To me this stealing from the customer and when I ask to have it cut in half they refuses. I came here because the online menu said they had tostadas. They had no tostadas. Given that I'd driven some distance and had limited time, I ordered three steak tacos. A few minutes later I called the server over to confirm I would get get crispy tacos. Both were on the menu, but I hadn't specified which I wanted. The server said I could only get beef tacos crispy, not steak tacos. That was weird: If you can put beef in crispy shells, why not steak? But whatever. I asked to switch to beef tacos. The server said he'd check. He came back a few moments later and said no, because they already started making the tacos as soft tacos, and they would have to waste three tortillas to put the steak in different shells. THREE TORTILLAS? Seriously? Then the server suggested I do some sort of chef-ing of my own to make the tacos more palatable me. (Like only eat the insides? Pull some crispy shells out of my purse?) When I asked to speak to the manager, the server said it was the manager who refused the change to my order, plus he didn't speak English well. At that point I was over it, so I asked for the check and told them they could keep the tacos. After about an eternity, the waiter returned with my check, pleased that he was "only" charging me $2.45 for my Coke. Again, seriously? You couldn't just comp the Coke? The server did seem very apologetic, so no blame to him here. I went to Taco Bell instead, and got much better service, and crispy tacos. Loved the old place, getting to love the new place. Although most will probably simply call it a great little Mexican restaurant, it offers a variety of Central American cuisine, such as delicious Salvadoran pupusas. But however you label the food, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better/more authentic restaurant in Lafayette serving this type of food. Everything is very reasonably priced and you can order full entrees or go a la carte. The new location seems to be working out for them as the couple times I was there it was very crowded with a line starting to form outside, even during the week. Oh, and they are providing full-sized dinner napkins with the meal, so the guy complaining about the cocktail napkins can now relax and enjoy the meal. read more

Just moved here from Dallas (by way of San Antonio) & cajun food is great, but sometimes I really miss the amazing Mexican food from home. My husband and I found this place and we loved it! I can't say it's perfect, but it's the closest thing to home we've eaten so far. After talking with the friendly staff, we found out that it's hispanic owned (rare in Lafayette) and it shows in the dead-on (in our experience) flavors in some of the dishes. Cozy atmosphere and prices are great for what you get- another rare thing we've noticed this far. Story about this place: Years ago I lived right outside of LSU, and many of my neighbors were families from Latin America. As I was walking to and from my classes or work, these wonderful women would occasionally stop me and hold out styrofoam plates piled with food. I never turn down free food, so I would graciously accept the plate and thank these women however I could despite the language barrier. One day, there was an item on my plate that was shaped like a very thick pancake. It was served with red and green chile. When I bit into that thing, it was a meaty, cheesy surprise! I learned that I was eating a Salvadorian dish called pupusa which is a corn tortilla pancake filled with meat and cheese (there are many variations of this dish). For years I searched far and wide for pupusas with no success. When I moved to Lafayette, a craving hit me during class, so I googled pupusa in Lafayette, LA. Sure enough, my search led me to this restaurant. I dined in alone at the bar and told the bartender my story. He brought out three huge pupusas which were served with cabbage slaw and some sort of orange chile sauce. So glad I found this place. I think I'll go there right now! read more

We ate here tonight and I loved it! I had a ground beef crunchy taco and rice, my husband had the barbacoa and pastor tacos, and my three year old had the kids enchilada. So yummy! The service was EXCELLENT and she took care to think about our child more than we are used to.
