I love this place. The food is always spot on. And not to mention the pricing is very reasonable. The staff is always very friendly.

Well what a great surprise for lunch, we arrived right before the crowd and was treated to service with perfection. The tortilla chips were crisp, and the bean dip a new experience and flavor that was a hit, so not sleep on the salsa either, one of the better we've had. The tacos was great, crunchy, with lettuce and cheese, but the star was the enchiladas with the red sauce, wow what a deep delicious flavor, very tasty. Do also try the enchiladas with the cheese sauce with the beef on top, it goes very well with the lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream was spot on. Ask for onions and cilantro. CAme for a lunch date with my 3 year old daughter. Food was quick and super fresh! I had the fajita nachos that was cooked perfectly! Added some grilled jalapeños for added heat which is always good! My princess had a child's quesadilla with rice. It was a huge portion with plenty to bring home for dinner. Food and service was perfect! I remember this place being a bombass seafood restaurant growing up. 'Evangeline steakhouse and seafood' It still has the same chairs but the decor makes you feel like you are in a Mexican village. Starting out, I'd like to commend the very authentic decor and the staff for their friendliness. I'd also like to commend them on their salsa. It had a distinctive smokey flavor. Maybe they heated it on the grill? Anyway, from this point on, I have no more compliments. My 2-for-1 Happy Hour Margarita was just okay, so a second one for free didn't impress me. My husband's Top Shelf Margarita didn't taste good at all. The chips and bean dip were nothing special. Unfortunately, our entrees were much worse than nothing special. Nothing tasted fresh. I suspect that most of their food was previously frozen and some even pre-made and reheated with the restaurant's little additions. For example, my Camarones en Brocheta tasted like freezer burned processed breaded shrimp wrapped with bacon and then grilled. My California veggies tasted like frozen veggies from a bag heated on a grill with a little extra seasoning. My rice was dry and tasteless until I smothered it in their salsa. I couldn't bring myself to taste the guacamole because the color was too much like baby ... well, you know. The helpings were more than adequate but I ate only 2 of 6 shrimp because the taste was so bad. Sorry Cactus Grill, we won't be returning. read more

The first (and only) good Tex mex we have found in Lafayette! Coming from NC, I'm surprised how bad and overpriced the local tex mex is here, considering how close we are to Mexico. Cactus had good prices and really good food. We will be back! Skip Hacienda, El Paso, La Pagua, Pedro's, etc... they're all way overpriced and mediocre. Cactus for the win! read more

First off we were headed to another restaurant, saw this place on the side of the highway and said what the hell. To start off the service was fast, polite, and accurate. Margaritas hit the spot with 2 for 1 and made perfect. Granddaughter had the kids fajitas, and loved them, the crawfish enchiladas were good but not as good as our old place in Raceland, the chili replenished hit the spot and were great. Will definitely come back when in the area and feel like Mexican food Only gave 4 stars, because no one is perfect, lol read more

Eh, it wasn't good for us. Our waitress looked like she wanted to beat someone up with the scowl she was walking around with. Was hard to get anything from her and the food took a while to get to us. It might be better if I'd go with her not on shift, but the chicken nachos were just ok at best. Might try it again one day, but not gonna hold my breath. read more

Chips n salsa is more on the cheap side but it's grown on me actually, it taste good it's just sweet but it's a great place with real Mexican vibes and drinks. Oh my guacamole! This place was fantastic. Other than the very green exterior, it's not a showy place. This is very much a neighborhood restaurant. The food though was stellar. The prices were extremely fair. The wait staff was polite and attentive. I got a half order of the Cactus Nachos. This could have easily been 2 meals. From what I could tell and taste, it seems like everything is made on site. If you get the chance to go, take it. read more

My hubby & I decided to try this place because was a brand new place. We were craving tacos so that's what we looked for on the menu. They only had tacos on the A La Carte menu, hubby ordered 3 soft chicken tacos & beans & rice. He got 3 hard chicken tacos. Of course this was after our waiter took my order and proceeded to walk away without taking my hubbys order, we literally had to call him back to get his order... I ordered 3 hard tacos & a quesadilla with no guacamole. I got my tacos and there was guacamole on my quesadilla. The beans & rice was luke warm, the meat on both of our tacos was barely warm. The best thing we got was the quesadilla and it wasn't even cut... Then they brought us our check they didn't label all the charges on the hand written ticket & after he charged our card came back to explain that they charged us more because the waiter didn't put the cost my drink on the original check. read more
