    Carne Asada Meal

The food was amazing, Very well seasoned! I enjoyed the ambiance of feeling like I was in a little city of Mexico enjoying my meals! I ordered the carne asada and a marinated pork taco and both were very flavorful and filling! The service was very quick, we waited no longer than 10 mins for our food and we also got to see the food be cooked! I like that it's also inside a Mercado so you can shop around while you wait!

Went back on our annual Michigan visit, ordered: Camarones a la Diabla Carne asada taco Fried fish taco Lengua tacos Tampiqueña Everything was FREAKING AWESOME. The depth of flavors in all the marinades and sauces is just outta this world. I love you, La Perla. Thank you for doing everything right. 5 stars all the way.

Since my husband and I started dating back in 2011 we've been frequenting La Perla and it is most definitely our go to spot for Mexican food. I had a dire need for tacos, so we decided to get some from here since we hadn't been since the beginning of the year. I asked for 3 beef tacos on a flour tortilla with cilantro, onion, sour cream and cheese. My husband also got tacos, but he didn't tell me what he put on them. While eating, my husband kept saying what a good idea getting tacos from here was and I couldn't agree more. We plan on coming more regularly again, as we used to come at least one every other week if not once a week. Everything about this place is just great. They have a grocery store and a restaurant, so you can get some premade tacos along with some things to make food at home. I do appreciate all the baked goods as well and often request we get a few items. I'm so glad I got hungry for tacos because it means we got to come back to one of my favorite places. Biggest downside is sometimes the lines get super long and thet often won't answer the phones if they get busy. If they don't answer the phone, either come in or try a little later. The only reason they won't answer thre phone is if they are closed or swamped with orders.

This is my favorite place to eat authentic Mexican food. It's in a market and I love the concept. Go try everything on the menu. The ambiance takes me back to my vacation memories in Mexico chilling on a resort eating amazing food minus the alcohol. The tres leches cake is delicious too!

OUTSTANDING Mexican grocery store and restaurant in Benton Harbor. My sister, brother-in-law, and his parents had came to La Perla once after finding it on Yelp. After their experience, they said it's a must-see whenever you're in the area and craving Mexican food. They were oh-so-right. There was plentiful parking. As we walk towards the entrance of the store, it was impossible to miss the signs written in Spanish advertising tours to cities in Mexico. Awesome. After passing through two automatic doors, you'll see a well organized and stocked grocery store with refrigerators full of any and every beverage you can imagine. Walk further straight and you'll likely see a line for the restaurant. That was the focus of this visit. The menu had variety but was focused. There's classic options that encompass tacos, quesadillas, scopes, tortas, and more. Long story short, everything was incredible. From the freshly prepared and supremely flavorful salsas through the piping hot tortillas and meat, it was a fantastic meal. The standout was Lengua/tongue. Ridiculously tender AND flavorful. Highly recommended. Pricing was reasonable too. Most items cost under $5/each so our meal for three people came out to just around $12/person including drink. Don't forget to grab an ice cold bottle of Jarritos or your drink of choice from the refrigerator. Enjoy!

These tacos are LEGIT! All this for $8!

These tacos are LEGIT! All this for $8! I work out of town often. When not in Chicago I realize how good we have it with all our wonderful Mexican restaurants. Well Perla's tacos can compete with any I've had in the Chicago area! Authentic, Mexican Carne Asada tacos and a topo Chico for lunch. It perfectly hits the spot it is incredibly reasonable price wise. This is my new go to for lunch when I work end Southwestern Michigan.

Seriously good Mexican food! And seriously great prices!! I love that it was a little market as well! We don't have anything like this where I live, and I thought it was just a really fun experience! The nachos were a huge portion, and the salsa as well...really authentic and delish.

This was a medium beef burrito with everything on it. Todd is his it was delivered.

Was told good Mexican cuisine. If you want authentic bad hospitality this is your place. I had to hunt down a server for a fork to eat how the food was presented. I would recommend another place if you want authentic.

It's a little sit down area of a Mexican grocery store. On the right when you walk into the store. We are not judgy if the food is good. Order at the counter. They will bring you chips and salsa if you are dining in and bring the food as it's done too. Ordered 4 regular corn Mexican tacos with chicken, one with avocado, half order or 3 chicken enchiladas, large guacamole and Jarritos mandarin. The salsa and guacamole are both mild, better with the green tomatillo sauce for urn guacamole and the red bottle salsa for the salsa bowl. The chips aren't fresh and must be from a bag. The chicken tacos weren't bad, as were the enchiladas. The chicken taco chicken was not grilled but marinated pieces of chicken. The meat in the chicken enchilada is a mix of dark and light meat. The refried beans have a deep flavor, maybe cooked with lard? The rice is bland and boring. The food overall wasn't too bad.

Hard to find better fast casual Mexican than the little taqueria tucked into the Mexican grocery store La Perla. Had both an el pastor and a carne Asada taco (Mexican style) and they were quite delicious... both hot and mild in house salsas were great too. However, the superstar is the Torta Especial... breaded steak, ham, cheese, beans, avocado, lettuce and tomato.. one of the best sandwiches in southwest Michigan (seriously).

Best value in town, the food is delicious and the prices aren't right, they could charge double and be a bargain. Just go.

I've driven by this store many times and FINALLY stopped in. What was I waiting for?!…read more THIS STORE IS AMAZING! First, and foremost, the staff was so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. I don't think I've had anyone help me in-store EVER as this lady did. She was a great problem-solver (I love dried mango flavor in things, but am a TOTAL zero flames so even if chili is the last ingredient, it's too spicy for me. OPE.). My curry-making problem is now solved. THANK YOU! Second, this small store is like a TARDIS or Mary Poppins' bag. Each aisle is packed to the brim with treasures. We were in somewhat of a hurry, but honestly I could spend quite a while there (and know that if I have questions, I will learn solutions). There is a LONG wall of freezer things that looked enticing - our daughter got a box of 22 (!!) frozen samosas, which she loves. There is fresh produce in back, more refrigerated things, shelves and shelves of deliciousness, and my very favorite, a WHOLE section of spices and spice mix. There were many things unfamiliar to me, which I can't wait to try. The beans and rice selection is quite thorough. The prices are excellent. HOW did I not go here before? Hope you enjoy it, too. You can find them on fb; there is no other website. APNA is housed in a large blue building, shared with another store. Note: The only way to turn in is from N Avenue. Ask me how I know. There is no entrance on 9th street!
