    Enchiladas verdes

This is a nice lunch spot on the beach. The food was nothing fancy but the location and views are great. It was nice having lunch with our toes in the sand overlooking the water. I really wanted a quesadilla and it wasn't on the menu but the server was nice enough to accommodate me and they made a meal for me. Enchiladas verdes, a quesadilla meal and a side of beans was 230 pesos. We didn't try any drinks. This is a very large restaurant and you can sit either inside or outside in the sand. Bathrooms were clean. Cons: a lot of people walking up trying to sell you souvenirs or sell you services like mariachi, spa services etc. A simple no gracias works but you'll have to say it at least 20 times.

It's really a question of whether you want to sit inside or outside. The place is hopping, with locals and tourists in equal measures. Outside is more beach vibe, tourist-focused, busy. But inside... muy bueno! This is the quintessential Mexican bar. It's exactly what I had in mind when I wanted to come here. I had a beer with lime, salt, and a lingering smile for only $3. It feels like the sort of place that has seen everything. Now I want it to see more of me.

This was the best food I had during my trip to Zihuatanejo! It is a wonderful gem right along La Playa Ropa with beautiful beach views. I had an octopus dish that was delicious and a strawberry margaritas that absolutely hit the spot.

Food and service is great today. First time here, everything has been awesome. Get the coconut shrimp and have a couple of cold beers.

We had our wedding at la Perla. Francisco is fantastic! The food was good, the location was RIGHT on the beach, everything could not have been more beautiful!

We are staying in Los Troncones but we wanted to explore the Zihuatanejo area. We were looking for a place near the beach plus we are vegetarians and Gluten Free. We walked along Playa de la Ropa and stumbled onto La Perla What a Jewel. We had the sopes, fajitas and enchiladas. The tortillas are hand made beans and rice are delicious. The best part is we met Don Francisco part of the family that owns the restaurant. He introduced us to some of his Artesenal Mescals. Try the Cupreata artesenal; it's like butta. Beside the beach front setting, it's a great atmosphere.

If you are on La Ropa, La Perla is an ok spot to stop and get some lunch. Came into La Perla and we took a table. Our server was by shortly with menus, and ask us about drinks. We ordered up a couple of cervezas. We decided to go with the fish tacos, fried tortilla shell with beans and chicken. Our food came out quite quickly. One of the fish tacos had fish that was a bit off. My wife had ordered the fried tortilla shell and all of hers were very good. I had also orders some rice, which was ok. Nothing overly fabulous. Once we were finished, We asked our server for our bill. He came past us several times to get the order from an adjacent table, deliver food, etc. No bill. We had to flag the guy again, and ask again. He apologized but still didn't bring the bill. We waited longer for our bill than what it took to order, get our food and eat. Overall, I don't think there are any restaurants on La Ropa that are going to be that great. They have a fairly captive audience. The food was average and the service was just slow. Considering the relatively few people in the restaurant. If all you care about is having a cerveza and looking at the ocean, then this is your place. Might want to do a pass on the food.

With plastic chairs they should put cushions on top to prevent sweating. (Our hotel has cushions on the outdoor dining areas because it's so hot here and sitting outside can be uncomfortable without a cushion). For our meal we ordered the specials. While beautifully plated somehow it lacked a little flavor on mine. My hubby had prawns with sailfish in garlic butter. Also we were given a fish amuse bouche which had 3 chili pepper condiments. They were all very very spicy. I barely had any, like a tiny taste and my husband as well, the result later being that my husband and and I were pretty sick all night and the next day. He actually had to go to the doctor 2 days later as he was still quite ill and in pain. While There was a significant burning in my stomach from the chili acid, he believes his situation was probably some bacteria in the food which is too bad because the restaurant is pretty upscale and clean so I doubt we got it from the ice. Anyways we can't go back. I also think the waiters could check on the diners to see how the food is after you start eating to make sure it's ok, like other waiters at these surrounding restaurants do. Somehow This never happened.

It was very hot while we dined and there was no breeze. A fan would have been wonderful! The bad: You choose 2 or 3 courses for $1300 or $1500MXN. At this price, you expect really exceptional food. This just wasn't the case for us. I ordered the steak, which came with a green sauce and potatoes. The potatoes were delicious. The filet was more like a sirloin but was more tough than a sirloin. It was very disappointing, but more than that, when the server asked how everything was, he seemed as if he already knew the steak was tough. I ended up getting the coconut shrimp (4) instead. They were served on a bed of cooked and spiced apples along with a salad rolled up in thinly sliced jicama similar to a sushi roll. The second course I ordered was dessert. The pictures don't do the presentation justice because it is so dark, but the food is beautiful. Paying this much for coconut shrimp and dessert (basically a molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream) really left me feeling very disappointed. Would not recommend nor return.

We had researched the area on our Mapquest and found El Galeon. We went to their website ( which brought us to YELP) where we found they were rated 4.7 out of 5 stars. (The lone "2/3" star came from someone who stated that she had lasagna which was cold but the service fixed the issue after what she felt was a long time) All the other ratings were 5/5 star with many mentions of Francisco who was their waiter.( more of Francisco later). The walk was a 6 min walk from our condo, so we decided we would make El Galeon our evening dining experience. We approached the entrance just off the Mariana where we were met by none other than Francisco himself. He greeted us with smiles and in a very polite and friendly voice he asked if we had made reservations ( we had not) he took us to a very nice table where my wife and I sat comfortably awaiting menus. I made mention to Francisco as to the reviews that brought us to El Galeon with many making mention specifically to him and his great service. He was surprised in hearing people had mentioned him directly and was appreciative.. he lived up to the reviews, the food was amazing (we had shrimp cocktail to start, margaritas and wine to quench our thirst and for the main entrees my wife had pomodoro and I had fettuccini Alfredo.) large portions served with garlic toast. DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!
