If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Short version: DO NOT GO HERE. Long version: I saw this ad on Groupon with Vadim Safyan for a haircut, deep condition treatment, and blow-out style. I called him to make an appointment and he told me not to purchase the Groupon but to pay him in cash. I said fine, and agreed to meet with him. He booked my appointment at the same time as my cousin actually, so when I came in on time for my 2pm appointment, no one greeted me, and I had to go up to him to tell him who I was. He argued for about 10 minutes over my cousin's hair and refused to color it. Instead he told her he would do highlights. That should have been a red-flag right there but we still gave him a chance. She showed him a picture of what she wanted, accenting the gold tones on her nice brunette hair. She explained how it should blend and flow naturally into her hair, and not be a streaky, yellow look. He argued some more until he began working on it. He made her fold and hold the foil, and when she commented that no hair stylist has ever made her do that, he just said Americans are lazy and yelled at her to just do it. My cousin's initial lustrous hair turned out to be yellow and streaky when he washed out the product, and it looked like a bumble bee. It was horrific to see her hair turn out exactly how she told him she did NOT want it to look. He went over to another person in the salon and asked her for her opinion on which color he should use for her toner. He then used that toner on her, washed and blow dried.....to the same yellow, streaky look. When it came to my turn, I came in asking for a simple 1/2 inch trim where we keep the length and layers, but cut off a little bit of the dead-ends. I asked him for a simple straight line in the back with a touch up on my even layers, and told him I don't like the v-shape. He argued about this but finally agreed to start my hair. He washed my hair with burning hot water and coughed all over my face during the process-- I wish I was making this up-- and then began to towel dry my hair. I asked him if he was going to deep condition it and he said he didn't understand why everyone wanted a deep conditioning treatment....I said it was in his ad, and he said fine, and put regular conditioner in my hair. He walked away for a minute (I watched my clock) and came back to wash it out. This is NOT how long deep conditioner is supposed to be in your hair for. When it finally came to cutting my hair, he boasted about his methods compared to other hair stylists and then blow dried it on the highest heat setting with the blow drier literally on my scalp and hair with steam flowing out. My hair came out completely uneven and had several inches taken off. The left side was significantly shorter than the right side, and even had random pieces that were still the old length. I told him nicely not to touch my hair anymore, and went to look at my hair in another mirror. He followed me with his scissors and tried to cut more pieces, but I firmly told him not to, and he eventually left me alone and went back to continue work on my cousin. Three and a half hours later...Nightmare experience. Save yourself the trouble and don't go here. read more

This salon is clean, cozy, with good music and nice atmosphere. There is talented and creative people working there. It's very easy to schedule appointments and I had no problem with quick responds to my messages. I love working with Mariya, she is very friendly with professional attitude, new trendy ideas and suggestions. I unfortunately had the same problems as others... I bought the Groupon for Vadim for highlights, deep condition & cut. I got a nice color, but no deep condition. The WORST was I asked for a trim and add some shaping & layers. Specifically told him 1" and showed him the length on my hair. I told him i don't mind coming back in a few weeks to trim more, but didn't want a lot trimmed at once. Well my 1" long hair was cut about 4-5" and is now shoulder length. The layers are one shorter area of hair cut to my cheek. He does not listen to what the customer asks for. read more

This review is for Ellen for a highlight and haircut-a very negative experience. I walked in and she immediately started mixing color without asking me what I wanted. "You want to go as blonde as possible, right?" Well I didn't, but didn't feel I had a choice. Her highlight is streaky and far from the root, even though I specified as close as possible. For my haircut all I wanted was a little trim and asked to keep my hair as long as possible. Instead of listening to "only a tiny bit of layers" she decided to do what she wanted and hacked about 6 inches off for the shortest layer. So much for long hair. :( she was also not friendly and criticized my hair throughout the process. Ps. I should mention I bought a groupon for this experience. Lesson learned! I received a text message from the salon (which they added below, I did not notice until now). In response to the salon, I told them: I have never written a review for a hair stylist. I do not know where you are being misinformed, but i have never written a review for hair, let alone a bad one. Second of all, I left a big tip because that's what you should do for a groupon and I wanted to get the hell out of there. I thought I was clear that I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible and didn't want much layers at all. I said that at least 2 or 3 times. If you had looked at my face at all when you were hacking 6 inches off for the layers, you would have seen I was not happy or calm about it. It will take me a full year to grow it back out when all I wanted was a trim. Also, I can send you a picture of my hair afterward. I would not call half an inch of roots and a color I don't want "beautiful hair." Also, I was not 30 minutes late, I was 15 minutes late, and had called the salon and your cell to inform you. I am sorry I was late, but I tried to get there as quickly as possible. More importantly, you had told me when we made the appointment that it would take at least 2 and a half hours, yet you scheduled someone else 2 hours after mine. read more

I love this adorable salon. The decor is very chic and the women that work here are inviting. It's a hidden gem in Walnut Creek. I have had my hair colored, highlighted and cut here. I have dark brown hair that I am in the process of lightening. That's no easy task and Mariya has been wonderful at creating the perfect sun-kissed look! Honesty Hurts....If there were Zero stars to give I would. This review is only for Vadim Safyan who has a chair at Le Perle (in SF) . So lets begin my experience: When I first sat in the chair Vadim smelled of cigarettes. Before he began I wanted to let him know that I found a deal on Groupon and wanted to use that after I had booked the appointment, his attitude quickly changed to pleasant to annoyed and irritated. He flat out said, " I asked if you had a groupon or deal over the phone, because if you had I wouldn't have scheduled an appointment with you - I would have told you that you had to wait a month". I had mentioned that I was going to look around for a deal. So, with awkward start I felt very uncomfortable. As for the service my partial highlights come out ok- more chunkier then I wanted leaving my hair look not as natural as previous but it was OK. Then he pulled out the scissors ( please note I have thin and short hair to start) I told him I only wanted a trim because I am trying to grow my hair out he cut 2 inches. Then comes the worst part he takes out --THINNING scissors - making my hair look awful! My ends now look ragged and sparsely where the crown of my head is fuller making it look like I have a helmet haircut. I am super upset and look and feel horrible. I now need to put my hair in a lower ponytail until it hopefully grows back. I would not recommend him to anyone. Go at your own risk. read more

This review is for the lashes. Thankfully Groupon refunded me I was VERY unhappy. She didn't start my lashes until 35min AFTER my scheduled appointment ( yes she was late ) which is an inconvenience seeing that I was on a bit of a time frame because of my newborn. We finally started and she was done in about an hour. I've received eyelash extensions before so I know a fresh set takes about 90-120 min. She then told me that they looked beautiful and when I come for a fill she would really give me the volume I'm suppose to have because she didn't know how many lashes I really had and she has another client .......excuse me?! I'm sorry but I was under the impression you were going to give me the wow factor and give me the volume the FIRST time on a full set. When I looked in the mirror I looked the same as I had when I walked in. It looked as if I NEVER received any extensions and no one noticed. I was VERY disappointed that I would get the short end of the stick because YOU were late and you had another client. That was neither my problem or fault. Needless to say I walked feeling very cheated and upset that I had wasted my time and money on this joke. ANNNNNNND they started to fall out within two days. I immediately called my regular eyelash lady in south San Francisco who's REALLY hard to book with because she's so popular and awesome and she gave me what I was expecting and looking for. Absolutely horrible customer service, I had an appointment with Kim she has cancelled and even no showed to the appointments I set up with her. I even tried to confirm because the last time I went there all the way from Antioch in the middle of traffic she didn't even bother to notify me that she wasn't even coming. I reschedule and she cancelled on my again. Why would a salon hire someone that can't even be held accountable or doesn't want to help her clients. She is the only stylist who has ever been able to make my hair look healthy, give it depth (through color & highlights) as well as be able to work with my natural hair's finicky character to make it behave. I haven't had highlights in some time as I've had some bad experiences in the past... But she was careful to keep them natural and soft as I had asked for. My hair was cut much shorter than I wanted. I was very clear how much I wanted taken off, showing Vadim where on my shoulders I wanted the length, and also the amount to cut with my fingers. I wanted an inch to an inch and a half, and he cut at least 3 inches- up to my ears! Way way too short. I will never return. read more

Natasha is incredibly gifted. She has been cutting my hair for years, and I've followed her around since I first met her at Changes in WC. Natasha is very skilled and is a wonderful person. I trust her completely. My hair is baby fine, thin and wavy. There is only so much one can do with it, but Natasha always makes me look like a million bucks. I am so confused...what are these other people complaining about Ellen for?? I came in today for a cut and highlights, and it was my first time to this salon and first time meeting Ellen. I explained what I wanted (A-line bob with "light" highlights), and she nailed it. I'm always nervous getting my hair cut (especially this time, since I was donating my hair again and it was going to be a big change), but I could immediately tell she knew what she was doing. I am a control freak, I know it, so it's hard for me to sit still and let someone else be in charge of something. Ellen explained what she was doing on each step and told me repeatedly that if it didn't look like what I wanted, she would re-do it (which, of course she didn't need to do). The salon is so cute and clean, and all the staff there were very welcoming and friendly. Everyone has commented on my hair and I LOVE it! All I have to say is, thank God I didn't read these Yelps before coming in, or I would have missed out on her.
