Love, love, love the Camp Active summer camp at Alamo Gymnastics! This is probably the most…read moreorganized and informative camp I've ever enrolled my kids in. My 9yo daughter went for 2 full weeks (8:00-4:00) and my 5yo son did 2 of their half-days (8:30-1:30). Both kids had a blast this summer! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. My daughter takes gymnastics classes here, so this camp is just another great service that they offer. Rates are on par with other camps. Electronic devices are prohibited during this active camp, which I think is a great policy! Kids do not need to be plugged in everyday. I like how the kids are grouped by age and each week has a different theme (sports, space exploration, safari, etc.). They do a theme-related craft each day, which is cute. We get a kick out of them, even though some are geared toward a much younger age than my 9yo daughter - we just giggle at those and I tell her how cute she is. She rolls her eyes - it's a lot of fun. They get free play in the little gym from 8:00-8:45 before they break into their age groups. They take a couple of snack breaks (dry snacks provided) and a lunch (parent provides). They go back and forth between the big and little gyms throughout the day, and around pick-up time (4PM), they're usually watching a movie. Sign-in at drop-off and ID check and sign-out at pick-up. You can register week-by-week online. You can uncheck days during the week if you know you won't be sending them every day and only pay for the days they will attend. This worked great when we had a dental appointment scheduled during one of the days, so I only paid for 4 days that week. They have a flexible refund policy too. You can pay an extra $10/day if you need extended care from 4-6 PM. The coach will send you an email the week before camp to introduce themselves and provide camp-specific info. This is a great touch and really helpful for parents to stay informed of procedures and expectations. One tip for them: update your information form that parents fill out to remove the info about swimming, since it's no longer offered during the camp. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing!

We didn't want a league, but rather something where he could build confidence and skills with kids his age. We've done Shooting for Success before, but it was unorganized, communication was terrible, the camp coordinator never made an appearance, AC went out at the gym, and my son didn't seem to grow at all that week. While watching the 12 PM news, we saw the Antonio Daniels Basketball Camp with The Daniels Family Foundation. We immediately registered. This camp is 5 full-days and held at the Cornerstone Christian School's campus off of NW Military & 1604. Perfect for those living on the north side of town and exactly what we were looking for! Antonio Daniels dedicates himself to participating in the camp and connecting with the children THE ENTIRE TIME, which is mind-blowing!! This camp is on-point, y'all! Communication with parents and overall organization of the camp was phenomenal. Their website and Facebook page are current and packed with info. Expectations for parents, campers, and staff was clear from the point of registration and throughout the camp. Camp is M-F from 9AM - 3PM. Lunch is included in the camp's $185 fee, and it's decent food from area restaurant sponsors. Our son also got a camp t-shirt, brought his basketball in to be autographed, received a picture of Antonio to go along with it, and got a photo taken with Antonio too ($15 extra). Campers were grades 1-12, and broken into age/skill appropriate groups. The Cornerstone campus looks like a college campus, so there's plenty of parking and gyms to spread out in. We never saw kids sitting down and doing nothing or playing electronics, like what had happened a lot in another camp we attended (mentioned above). Concession was open for purchasing snacks & drinks during the camp, and was operated by AD's parents-in-law. Facilities are very nice. Antonio did a great job of giving the kids a "word of the day" and motivational message each day, as well as interacting with the kids. We loved watching the last day's All Star games too. AD has done a great job of surrounding himself with very supportive & competent staff members, as well as including his family in this endeavor. The coaching staff is wonderful and my son said he was going to miss Coach Sam most of all! Coach Sam is skilled in basketball, was great with the kids and a great communicator with the parents. The entire coaching staff is very skilled and great with the kids. Our son was sad for the camp to end, but we can't wait until next summer (19th year), when they'll hopefully offer several weeks of camp. Keep up the great work!

Do not recommend…read more The advertisement stated "Small Party Group - Up to 5 Hours," and I paid over $600 for this event. Unfortunately, the experience started going downhill before the party even began. A few days before my event, I called to ask about rescheduling due to weather because there was an 80% chance of rain. The owner, Courtney, told me that I could not reschedule because they make that decision on the day of the party. However, their forms state that parties may be rescheduled due to weather, so this was already confusing and inconsistent. The day of the party, it was pouring rain with flash flood warnings in effect. I called the center five times with no answer. On the sixth attempt, someone finally answered and told me they would not reschedule and that the party would continue regardless of the weather conditions. The tables were wet, the playground was wet, and the conditions were far from ideal. During the event, the kids repeatedly had to get out of the pools due to lifeguard breaks and pool cleaning, which already disrupted the experience. What completely broke me was when one of the staff members came to me while I was in the pool with my children and asked, "What time are you cutting the cake because your time is almost up?" My party started at 3:00 PM, and it was only around 5:30 PM. I explained that I booked a 5-hour party and should have until 8:00 PM. He told me that the owner said I had only booked a 3-hour party. I went to speak with the owner, Courtney, who would not even come out personally to speak with me. I was told that I had booked only 3 hours, and she pointed to a handwritten end time on the event sheet and claimed I had written it myself. I tried to work things out and even asked if I could pay for an additional two hours. I was told no because the lifeguard had only been paid until 6:00 PM. I asked again and offered to pay more, but I was told, "It doesn't work that way." I was standing there in tears, begging for us to stay the additional two hours I believed I had paid for. There was no compassion, no attempt to make things right, and no effort to resolve the situation. I had to walk back in tears and end my party early, then tell my guests they had to leave because of what appeared to be a serious miscommunication. I have rented many places for parties and events over the years, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. It was embarrassing for both me and my children. I will never return, and I hope others carefully consider their options before booking.
