This place was recommended to us by a local guide. Lovely set up mostly as a garden. Amazing variety of juices and fruit plates. We arrived on a late Saturday morning so I was pleased to see a good selection of breakfast and lunch entrees. I opted for the chilaquiles with rajas, and my wife decided to go for a Huarache (thick tortilla) with mushrooms. Both dishes were decent in size. My chilaquiles were spicy but not to the point where I couldn't finish them. We ordered the Costa juice (pineapple, grapefruit, ginger and orange) The dinner menu looks very inviting too Bathrooms could use a little do over. I would definitely recommend this place.

We all really loved our food! (We had the huarache, empeñadas, and tacos!) The drinks were good, too! The garden setting was jungly, and very pretty, though no water view. We had a very nice waiter, too, and the food came quickly even though it was all made to order and very fresh. (The seating was more interesting than it was comfortable, and the restroom was tiny and hard to use, but the food was so yummy our group all said 5 stars!)

Grilled shrimp tacos. Special order. Not exactly what was offered on the menu.

I would say La Piña is an affordable eatery for folks who are not vegan with wheat and soy allergies, but Alejandro our waiter and the cooks, Hidalia and Sofi, went out of their way to accommodate during our breakfast visit. The Selva smoothie and the Pirate were fresh and delicious. They hand-make their own corn tortillas, pitas, and pizzas. I would cheat on wheat to try their pitas, but their tortillas are so good, I am happy eating those. Most smoothies, sauces and salsas are vegan. Their pineapple habanero salsa is delish and I would say their signature accompaniment!! One thing to note is Vegan is doable here, but the non-soy vegan protein is lacking, so come prepared to ask for beans on the side, and it could be a miniscule portion of 3 tablespoons of refried beans. Breakfast service was better than the lunch service. And, their location has a jungle setting, which is fun, but no breeze and tons of mosquitoes. I couldn't find anything on their lunch menu that was vegan + non-soy + GF, and they forgot to bring us their beverage menu, which in actuality, is quite extensive and specialized. Also, my mushroom tacos were made with canned mushrooms. Hence, the 3 stars vs. 4 or 5. Mark had the grilled shrimp tacos. His tacos looked very fresh, and their Hibiscus water was made in-house, not from concentrate. He said the tacos were very good and worth the stop. He also enjoyed the huevos Bacalarenos for breakfast the next day.

Great service. Delicious and well presented food. Affordable prices. It's also very pretty. Inside a tropical style garden.

It also contained almonds, pecans and pepitas. So amazing! Yum!! The bf had some incredible looking huevos rancheros. He made them disappear quickly. For dinner, I ordered el caldo Tlalpeño. Too much cheese for my liking, but with fabulous flavor. My other half ordered a squid platter that he enjoyed. Tonight, I only ordered guacamole with tortilla chips. Simple, yet satisfying. I didn't have much of an appetite. My bf ordered a tuna platter in a red sauce with capers and black olives. The place was packed tonight and the a/c was off, making things quite miserable and sweaty. The service was adequate, not anything to jump up and down for or anything to complain about. I was not thrilled to hear that the owner was Italian and had an Italian chef. It'd be nice to see local ownership and assistance, rather than foreigners.
