    Taco and quesadillas

This is the best restaurant we went to in Bacalar by far, with food that tastes amazing and is reasonably priced. Their menu is diverse and delicious! They also have super refreshing aguas naturales. We tried pretty much everything that we eat that's on the menu across 4 or 5 meals here, and it was all super tasty! Some stood out more than others to me. I loved the espinaca, mole poblano, and tinga de pollo. The espinaca was in a nice cream sauce and was super thick and rich, absolutely delicious in both quesadilla and taco form. As was the case with a lot of the menu, most was very flavorful and in my opinion was better in taco or quesadilla form. The burritos were delicious and grilled el dorado style just like my San Francisco, California favorite La Taqueria, but I found that the flavors of the many different options were typically more balanced and clear in either the tacos or quesadillas than the burritos. My personal favorite agua natural was the maracuya (passion fruit), it tasted like pure liquid maracuya and was sooo refreshingly cold in the sweltering heat! If you come to Bacalar, you have to eat here. Beware, cash only, so stop at an atm before making your way over!

Great food and prices. They take visa which is a plus. Open and airy. They have vegetarian options as well.

Top to bottom - chorizo y papas, chilemole pollo, pollo tinga. All came with rice for some reason. Chorizo and potato was the best.

Hit or miss. What they do well is actually very good, but it's hard to know what'll be good. The carne asada quesadilla was very good, although I think the bright green tortilla was made with food coloring... that part seemed unnecessary. The potato chorizo taco was also very good. Didn't love the chilemole or the rings tacos...

Lot of taco options! Conveniently located in town and the service was friendly. A ton of vegan options as well.

Best Tacos in Bacalar or even Mexico. From my 5 trips to Mexico, I still think about this place the most. The tacos are just so damn good. When I sat down, I was like I am only going to get 3 because I was going to the bar later and will be probably munching or something or getting full from consuming beer and liquor. However, I ended up getting like 8 or 9 tacos. The owner was surprised I ate so much and came by the table. I am not sure if I should be embarrassed or honored but I loved how friendly he was. Tacos are just amazing. I think I wasn't a big fan of the fried shrimp one but all the other tacos were great. Just order one each and use the hot sauces that are on the table. Imagine finding a piece or heaven then finding a restaurant that puts a little cherrie on top of it for you. Mr. Taco is literally a whole in the wall type taco join. Their fish and shrimp are fried in this delicious dough. Fresh conditions are brought to the table. Be ware!!! The green cause is super duper hot and I thought it was guacamole CASH ONLY! Ladies make sure you pick up cheap bracelet at the little shop next to the taco shop!!!

Delicious ingredients, big tacos, fun vibes, and friendly staff! If you're in the mood for tacos while in Bacalar, stop by Mr. Taco in the center of town. It's a small shop packed with employees, guests, menu signs, colorful decorations, tables that overflow into the sidewalk, and people that overflow into the street. Despite passing this place and its large crowd countless times, I brushed it off a "tourist trap" - someplace that's probably expensive, overcrowded, mediocre, and centrally located. The one part of my preconception that is true is the central location, which attracted my friend and I one evening as we hungrily placed a to-go order. My first reaction was surprise at two factors - the inclusion of beans/rice in the taco (which I had seldom experienced in Mexico) and the tastiness of the meal. Eager for more, my friend and I gathered a group and returned a few times for table service. I learned that the food/drink is actually delicious and caters to many palettes (meat eaters, seafood lovers, vegans/vegetarians like myself, and the gluten-free crowd). The bilingual staff are very friendly and ready to answer questions, offer recommendations, or make an accommodation. The owner often checks on guests to ensure quality and make a connection. Despite being a very busy place, the experience at Mr. Taco feels fun and relaxed - exactly how I'd want a beach-side taco shop dinner to feel.

One of the best burritos I've had. Mixed fish and shrimp. And eat it with the chile-chipotle-mayo sauce. So good!!!!
