One of the best meals I have had during my stay along the Yucatan Peninsula. Located one block away from the lagoon and walking distance from the cute downtown area of Bacalar, the open air restaurant is tastefully decorated with lots of wood features. Serving Italian food, bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar came out first. The pizzas looked amazing but I opted for the local sea bass which came on top of a puree of cream of asparagus. The fresh fish was flaky and was topped with seasoned breadcrumbs, the asparagus puree was flavorful and a beautiful shade of green. I split a bottle of chilled Argentinean Malbec which was light like a pinot noir and surprisingly paired well with the sea bass. Our English speaking server was exceptional, attentive but not overly cloying. The entree with the bottle of wine and tip came to $67. Would totally return here! read more

This place is a pretty spot that's a block from the Lagoon. It's open air, as is most of the restaurants here, but it was a cool rainy day. We originally were just gonna stop in for a quick beer as they had a decent local craft beer selection; but we ordered a pizza as well. The beer was cold, the pizza was delicious but the service was lacking. The server was great at taking our order, a runner dropped it off and then we had no contact until an hour or so later. We were waiting to pay for at least twenty minutes, then finally flagged someone down. There is an automatic 15% service charge added to the bill, which I didn't think they deserved (nor was it advertised) but maybe that's why the service was lacking; because they know they're getting 15% anyway. read more

Food was exactly as reviewed, very good. We made reservation for 7:30 and they had our table ready. Very nice outdoor area overlooking the lagoon. Nice entrance way with an arch of lights. I ordered the lamb chops and wife ordered seafood pasta. Her dish had a lot of shrimp, mussels, squid, and fish. Nice light broth with her pasta. I enjoyed my lamb. It was more cooked than I like but had a nice grilled flavor. The grilled vegetables was a nice touch. The service was very good. Well worth a visit when visiting Bacalar. read more

This place is all around. I tried the shrimp pizza and black truffle risotto and they were amazing both had a unique flavor. 8 paired it with Cabernet Malbec which expanded the flavors of the food. My wife had a Jamaica mezcal drink prepared in our table and was total delight the mezcal they use is not very smokie so paired great with the Jamaica juice. The place itself was one of the bigger ones I've been to in Bacalar very very nice great for casual dining and also Romantic dinners. read more

Got the Caprese and some pizzas. Pizzas are actually very filling and huge. We couldn't finish two pizzas. I wish they did half and half cause we had a whole box of leftover. Pizza is really good for a small town like Bacalar. The vibe is bougie so wear something nicer and as an Italian restaurant, please behave :). We over ordered (per usual) got the spinach raviolli, tuna tar tar, the octopus, tomato & mozz salad. everything was good, had some table side pour vodka and soda for a drink. not too expensive. our server was so sweet! young local guy from the bacalar town. if you go at night, ask to sit up stairs by the ledge! so romantico! read more

We were a group of 4 ladies, we were staying nearby at the Hotel Aire Bacalar. This was easy walk less than a block away. All employees wear masks as well as clients until they sit down. They seat while keeping social distancing in mind. The service was excellent and the food & drinks were delicious. They make their own bread. The pizza sadly not pictured because we devoured it, was to die for. We went back for it another night. They were very attentive and the owner even gave us ice one night. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. Pizza was cooked perfectly for being wood fired. Only reason for not a giving 5 stars was our waiter, he was not very friendly, when I asked for the check it took 15-20 minutes for a different waiter to bring us the check and no it was not busy. We wanted to try a little of everything : finisterre pizza, 4 cheese pizza, mushroom pasta, pesto gnocchi, shrimp lemon pasta, pear/ walnut gorgonzola ravioli and the grilled octopus( which was my favorite) . The food here is incredible! We ordered Pulpo a la gallega as a starter and I can honestly say this was one of the best tasting octopus! The chef cooked it to perfection it melted in my mouth and was not overcooked at all. We ordered the 4 cheese pizza and the seafood pizza as well both were delicious! I don't know if they changed chefs I was expecting a great meal after reading the reviews. We had a bad start because the pizza oven was out of commission the day we went so I can't speak to the pizza . The service was good and the place is attractive. We started off with the Finisterre salad which was quite good with mango, candied pecans and goat cheese. Then we ordered pastas. I ordered the simplest pasta imaginable the fettuccine arrabiata . The pasta was a bit too Al dente to begin with, very chewy and sauce was completely flavorless and lackluster. It was spicy that was the only part I enjoyed but otherwise truly mediocre . My husband had the pasta with frutti di mare it was ok just ok not worth the amount we paid. I would like to say we're going to give it a second shot and try the pizza but there are far better options in Bacalar at better prices too. PS I asked for some Romano cheese to give my pasta some flavor but they didn't have anything but a flavorless Parmesan. We left regretting the sum we laid down for our meal. read more

This was a gem of a restaurant, overlooking Bacalar Lagoon with its 7 shades of blue. The pizza was delicious with a thin and lightly toasted crust, like back in Italy. Will have to come back and explore more. read more
