I feel in love with this place! The food, the staff, all of it... AMAZING. I had two pupusa's and a tamale, the flavor was just perfect. Everyone there was in a good mood, laughing , it was a warm feeling being there. I have nothing to say more than this is a must try! Parking can be tricky!

Yelpers got this one right! Was looking for pupusas, and found this place on Yelp. Finally, good Pupusas instead of the crapppy ones that I've tried via food trucks, Mission side streets, or that one in Pacifica. Absolutely fresh outside seared perfectly with great flavored pork and cheese. Bought 4 of them! The sour vegetables and sauce were awesome, and the Horchata wasn't too sweet and had a good balance of rice milk and cinnamon. They cook them near the front! Would definitely come here again and buy more Pupusas in a variety of other flavors.

A staple place to come grab pupusas! I make my way over the from East Bay to come whenever I get cravings. A small place that was introduced to me by some friends and I have kept coming back ever since! It was confusing the first time I stopped by because I showed up and it said this was La Pinata - and I was getting it confused with the Hayward and Alameda locations. But this is a completely separate entity. There is usually plenty of street parking and you can smell it when you're outside on the street. They have remodeled recently, so it looks a lot cleaner on the inside. As you walk in, you head straight to the cashier to order before sitting down with a number or waiting on your to go order. You pass the ladies making your food to order. Know a little bit of basic Spanish before heading in since the menu is majority in Spanish. My go to pupusas are the pork and cheese and the chicken and cheese. They are massive, always pipping hot, and the crispest of bottoms. They also come now with a (downsized portion) of curtido, which used to come in massive jars that are free and you could help yourself. I've ventured out once and ordered the camarones al mojo de ajo - it was alright, too spicy for my liking and not with the white cream sauce but a tomato based version. Otherwise, if you come here specifically for their pupusas, you can't go wrong! Great for a snack or a meal. There are tables inside so you can eat it fresh. They take card and cash!

This place seemed like a little hole in the wall restaurant but it was packed on a Tuesday night, so I had high hopes. They were not disappointed! Food was quite cheap (at least in relation to the rest of downtown San Mateo) and quite tasty. The pupusas in particular were decadent, cheesy, and delicious, and I'll be coming back to try more of their tacos and burritos as well. Food took an extremely long time to get after ordering, but honestly, worth it for the quality.

The guy who took my order was super sweet and patient! I went with 2 chicken asada and 2 carnitas. Chicken asada was easily my favorite. You see the workers chopping and cooking the food right in front of you. Carnitas were a little on the dry side, but I still enjoyed them. The volcano salsa is an absolute MUST when you come here. Nice kick and really elevated the tacos overall. They also give you a complimentary plate of chips, but I am not sure if they're unlimited or one plate per order. I'm shocked at the number of bad reviews because my experience was the complete opposite. Will definitely be coming back!

Everything was extremely salty the meat, the sauces, literally everything. It was hard to enjoy the food because the saltiness was overwhelming. The service was even more disappointing. I waited almost 40 minutes just to order three tacos. It also seemed like they were skipping numbers and serving people they knew first, which felt very unfair and unprofessional. I used to enjoy coming here, but after this experience, I'm very disappointed. Good food means nothing if the service is this frustrating, and the food definitely needs better seasoning not just more salt.

Walked up around 6pm on a Friday and couldn't have planned our timing better. This place filled up within a half hour! We were able to sit outdoors with our dog and enjoy a warm, albeit windy San Mateo evening. The service here is great! Everyone was really friendly/patient/helpful and seemed to genuinely help one another out sharing the work of service/cleaning. The staff was attentive and thoughtful and checked up on us several times. The chips/salsa at Sinaloense are dangerous. Chips are sturdy and fresh without being too thick or oily. A perfect salsa delivery vehicle. The salsa had a great subtle smokiness (I thought) that was addictive. So much so that we fell into the typical trap of filling up on chips/salsa before the main event. No regrets. We ordered the fajita quesadilla and the chipotle shrimp plate. I really appreciate how generous their steak portions are and how perfectly the steak was grilled: thick, tender (cut against the grain), nicely charred, with great flavor. As for the shrimp, the chipotle sauce was delicious and creamy. Hard to explain but almost a cross between an Alfredo, chipotle and curry that we couldn't get enough of. Wiped the plate clean! We don't normally order dessert at restaurants but we gave into temptation and made an exception for churros. Great idea. Possibly one of the best churros I've had in the area. They pair the generous churro serving with ice cream and chocolate sauce that complements the fresh fried sweet dough perfectly. Don't sleep on this place!

When you walk in, you place your order directly with the cashier. If dining in, they will provide you with a basket of chips and you choose from an open table. The booths are a bit cramped with no space at all between yourself and the table but comfortable enough otherwise. There is a self service salsa bar in the corner - we really liked the creamy green salsa. Had just a slight kick but my 3 and 5 year old both loved it. I got a taco salad which is served in a taco bowl with all the ingredients of a super burrito, minus rice and cheese. It was very good, but the bottom of the shell gets really soggy so you can really just eat the top of the shell where it's still crispy. The rest of the family got super burritos and were very happy - the meat was crispy in some parts and moist/soft in other parts and the ratio of the other ingredients were perfect to complement the protein. Everyone left full and happy. Don't forget to get a sweet, cool, refreshing horchata drink to help wash down your meal!
